I came here once. That will be the only time I ever go here. It was a fairly bad experience. Let me start off with the positives. This place has a very nice and friendly staff. Also, the price is only $ 10.00. So, even if your experience is below average, you won’t feel like you got ripped off. The main reason the experience was poor was for the simple fact the food was not fresh. The chicken dishes I had were cold and the rice hard. Rice is not supposed to be hard to chew. There’s was. I had some soup and that was on the cold side too. What’s the point of coming here. I have to have decent rice with my Chinese dishes. This was a completely failed visit to a restaurant. I did not order to go. Maybe they cook that fresh and it might be better. Who knows? I won’t, because I will never go back.

2.5 stars for Jade Garden sounds about right. This is your run-of-the-mill Chinese buffet so come with tempered expectations. It’s only $ 10 for all-you-can-eat, so the value is there and it’s the main reason why I’m bumping this place up to 3 stars. Surprisingly, there is a lot of variety for just 10 bucks, but you also get what you pay for. It shows in the food’s poor to mediocre quality. Jade Garden is located near the Tanger Outlets on 278(Fording Island Road). It’s tucked away in a strip mall and hard to see from the road. Look for Saigon Café, another restaurant in the same shopping center, which is easier to find. The restaurants are on the same side of the road as the outlet malls. Our family has been coming here on and off for years. The inside is a little bit nicer than one would expect. Unlike typical Chinese«super» buffets, Jade Garden is more quiet. There are a few different dining rooms. The main dining room has privacy walls set up between sections, which is nice. The décor, floor to ceiling, isn’t too shabby for a cheap Chinese buffet. Here’s a list of items you might find on the buffet. Note it’s not 100% complete, but close. Dim sum items: Shrimp, pork, and chicken dumplings Gyoza/potstickers Chive cake and chive dumplings Sticky rice in lotus leaf Egg tarts Seafood: Salt and pepper fried calamari Cheese mussels Steamed little clams Crawfish Cooked shrimp Steamed salmon «Cheese» crab meat Stuffed shrimp Fried flounder(bone-in) Sushi: Assorted rolls with seaweed, tuna, tofu skin, vegetables, and tobiko Mongolian stir-fry bar(plates cooked to order): Steak, chicken, pork Noodles Assorted veggies — onions, broccoli, baby corn, bean sprouts, carrots, mushrooms, etc. Salad/cold bar: Shrimp cocktail Salad Broccoli salad Deviled eggs Meats, entrees, and sides/appetizers: Egg rolls Chicken wings Chicken nuggets Crab rangoon Mac and cheese Pizza(yes, pizza) Wonton soup Mixed vegetables(broccoli, carrots, baby corn, water chesnuts) Pepper steak General Tso’s chicken Chicken with broccoli String beans Honey chicken «Crispy» chicken Sauteed mushrooms «New York steak» Vegetable lo mein Vegetable fried rice BBQ pork ribs Dessert: Sugared doughnut balls Apple pie Sprinkle-covered brownies Coconut puffs Cream-filled pastries Jello Pudding Peaches Oranges Mandarin oranges Cantaloupe Assorted cookies Single-serve ice cream cups(vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) I’ve tried most of the food here and it’s hit or miss. Some of the foods are fresher than others and your experience will vary each visit. If you see them bring out a fresh batch of something from the kitchen, go grab it. Some items look(and taste) like they’ve been sitting out all day, if not longer. Some of the decent foods include the chive dumplings, sticky rice in lotus leaf, steamed clams, fried flounder, chicken wings, mixed vegetables, string beans, and the Americanized chinese food(e.g. General Tso’s chicken, chicken with broccoli, pepper steak, honey chicken, etc.). I like the steamed clams. They’re just so tiny. However, for the price, I’m not complaining. The fried flounder, when fresh, may be their best item. Quite crispy and delicious actually. Disappointments include the egg tarts(blech), the salt and pepper calimari(way too soggy and oily), cheese mussels(it could do without the heavy cheese), pork ribs(too fatty, excessively thick sauce), and several of the desserts. I’m sure many of the foods are prepackaged. For example, the peaches, Mandarin oranges, cookies, etc. could easily have come from a can or box. For low-end buffet sushi, the sushi rolls are not terrible. I like that they actually use tobiko(green and orange colored), real fish, and don’t overload the rolls with too much rice which is typical of economic Asian/sushi buffets. One of the most memorable things about this restaurant for me has been the ice cream. There’s a freezer in a back corner of the restaurant, near the other desserts, that contains boxes of «Wholesome Farms» single-cup ice cream. Many customers walk past the non-descript freezer and don’t realize there’s ice cream to be had in there. The ice cream cups remind me of the ones served at elementary schools. In fact, it may be the same because Wholesome Farms is a Sysco product. Service is fine. In addition to the buffet, you can call in orders for take-out. There is no delivery service.

We came here on a Friday night for dinner. Buffet was alright. Majority of the selection looked like it’s been out for a while. Dim sum especially the sticky rice, some sushi rolls, egg tarts, green beans, and mixed vegetables were okay. This was probably the best tasting options here. Cookies were hard and stale. Other selections more greasy and salty than others. Staff was attentive and made sure our plates were cleared out and water refilled. For about $ 10 all you can eat, it was decent. Would I come back here? Probably not.

Dangerous experience tonight. My family and local living in-laws made another trip here. This time we asked for chocolate milk for our 2 and 5 year old boys. My 2 year old took a mouthful of boiling hot water and was burned. He screamed with pain as we comforted and aided him. The staff did it respond in any way and was unsupportive until we urged to see management. The very inexperienced and young manager and staff attempted to make amends after we explained what happened. We strongly suggest caution when visiting if you make the choice. The food was substandard for flavor and preparation for Chinese buffet.

A «below average» to «average» Chinese buffet with hibachi grill. On a Friday night at 8:00 you would have thought there would be fresh options in every pan, but some of the selections had obviously been setting there for at least a couple hours. I just don’t think this area has the volume of customers to support a Chinese buffet. Chinese food is best eaten when fresh out the wok, but if they put it on the buffet and there aren’t enough customers to finish off the dish it just sits and sits and sits. I kept my eye on the buffet and they did bring out a few hot things from the kitchen so I tried to stick to just those dishes and they were«ok» but nothing to write home about. They did have something they called«New York steak» with was grilled and sliced on the bias and had a sauce in a bowl to the side to put on it which was surprisingly VERY tender and flavorful, but it’s not worth going back just for that. If you want something«Asian», try the Vietnamese place in the same shopping plaza, I tried it the next day after eating here and it was phenomenol. 100 times better than this place.

Can’t believe these reviews. The place is actually pretty good and there is no shortage of food and it’s an amazing value. True they have some odd selections, but that’s part of the fun. Their grill to order counter is a nice idea. I have never had a bad meal there and have eaten there 25 or more times. Human trafficking? Give me a break.

For the fried Jalapeño Calamari alone! But the Mongolian BBQ and some of the sushi and rolls. I give them 4Stars

The food at this establishment is – and there’s really no other way to describe it – horrible. I’m assuming it’s because there really isn’t any other Chinese buffets to compete with, except one in Beauford, SC, but it might as well be the same owners as it is under the same name. There aren’t that many varieties of dishes to choose from. The one thing I liked from this place was the ice cream being packaged in little individual cups.

Very large buffet with odd selections ranging from sushi, fried rice, and peel and eat shrimp to pizza, cake and jello. Nothing of any quality here. Slop food under heat lamps in a giant room. If you happen to require your food to be fresh and tasty, then this is not the establishment for you.

Washy L. Was not being racist in his review at all. It’s a very well known fact that most of Bluffton’s Asian buffets are involved in human trafficking. I don’t understand how someone can enjoy a place like this with that being so apparent. BUT, I will rate this place based upon the food they serve and it is gross. Mystery meat sitting under heat lamps is a minefield of bacteria that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

I’m going to try and ignore the extremely racist review below and carry on with my post… OK this place isn’t good but the service was really friendly– despite it being a buffet and them not really needing to be present at all. Some things were just weird. I found myself eating two of the cheesy creamy scallops. I don’t know if I’m a glutton for punishment or if I really liked them… the oysters were not edible. A lot of other things just not super. The green beans were nice. I don’t know what to think. My Pop-pop loves it and this was a backup restaurant because Bluffton is a dead city at night but I just left kind of confused and less hungry.
