Business Owner

Dr. Maginnis is a native of Charleston, SC. He received his BA degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. After graduation he continued his schooling and earned his DMD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He also completed his Orthodontic Residency (MSortho) at Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education. He has been practicing in the Hilton Head and Bluffton area since 2001. When Dr. Maginnis isn’t working, you’ll find him spending time with his family Mary, Vivienne, and Chessie-​their Boykin Spaniel.

In regards to his practice philosophy, Dr. Maginnis says, «Our mission is to deliver the highest quality orthodontic treatment with a personal touch. We apply the golden rule each day with our patients and our lives.»

Just finished my 15 months of having braces. As a 50 year old, I was a bit apprehesive to have it all over again (did it when I was a teenager in Va.). However, I can honestly say this was an incredible experience. I will actually miss not going to the Maginnis office anymore (how weird is that). Dr. Maginnis and his staff are absolutely the most friendly, happy, and professional Doctors office of any type I have ever been to. Everone from the receptionist to the technicians were wonderful. From a technical standpoint, the care was outstanding. Plus, when you have an appointment, you have an appointment. I don’t ever remember waiting in the reception area. From a personal standpoint, they made the whole experience delightful.
My teeth look perfect and I am now thrilled that I decided to do it… My college Son is now in braces. Even though he attends in Charleston (2 hours away), Dr. Maginnis is doing his braces as well and he drives back for his appointments. Why wouldn’t he just go to someone in Charleston? Easy…, because this practice is «that good…»

We were on vacation in Hilton Head when my daughter’s bite plate began giving her problems. Although the office was busy, they were able to see us the morning we called. The staff was extremely friendly, as was Dr. Maginnis. He removed the broken bite plate and called our home ortho to give them the update, all for no charge!
