Stokes Brown Toyota of Hilton Head

Almost a year ago my wife had a bad experience with this dealership and now I had a bad experience too. After two hours of haggling, the manager Joe (same guy my wife dealt with) asked if I would agree to an «out the door» price which I accepted and signed. He disappeared and came back 15 minutes later and said no it will cost me $ 2,000 more to make it happened. BS move on his part. I then called up Chatham Toyota in Savanah and got a better truck for the OTD price I asked for. I may have my car serviced somewhere else even though I live in Bluffton and they are the closest.
I will not give this dealership a third try. Just drive to Chatham Toyota!

Leased my Camry from Stokes. Good experience with a friendly and helpful staff. My salesman told me he was confident he could provide me with alternatives that would make my monthly investments both agreeable and affordable. I now have a very low payment on a great car!

My experience has been a positive one because I worked with an amazing salesman who was up front and straight just the way I like it! He was honest, hard working, and even after I drove off the lot, has been there to assist me. Ask for Thomas Burley when you go in as he is a fabulous salesman who is patient and very knowledgeable about what he’s selling! It was Thomas Burley who made our buying experience a pleasant one!

Classic bait and switch
I called stokes brown Toyota to ask about the promotion they are running on the radio where they will buy your car for 125% of its fair market blue book value, I live about an hour from this dealership so I wanted to clarify if there are any catches before I made the drive. Two representatives from SB told me this was the real deal no catch and that they were in need of trades.
I got there and spoke to the manager I was referred to on the phone he told me immediately that the 125% of KBB trade in value was only if you were buying a car from them, I figured it was too good to be true, but he assured me that they would make a fair offer maybe more. Ok
When the associate who was handling my car came to spoke to me after they inspected it he had a sheet of paper with a photocopy of a check on it for much less than I expected given that I knew what the KBB value was. I asked if that was the best they could do, he gave a few predictable excuses and left to go talk to someone who made these decisions, he came back after a little too long with an offer of an additional $ 200 dollars not great given that it was still about $ 2k under KBB value, at this point I thanked the salesman and asked for my key, he was obviously frustrated
Just a little background so you don’t think I’m some jerk trying to sell a piece of junk and am upset they wouldn’t over pay for it. My vehicle is in excellent condition inside, outside, and mechanically. Only 3 years old and still has the manufacturers warrantee. I brought it in clean with a fresh oil change and a full tank of gas
Let me give you some advice if I may, only go to dealerships to buy a brand new car, and if your going to finance work through your bank or even better a credit union the interest rate will be better and you won’t be pressured into things you don’t want to do or don’t need

I will NEVER do business with stokes Toyota. The main reason is because of the «manager» Wayne Connover.
First let me say that I walked into the dealership with my husband to purchase a Tacoma. We came prepared and informed. We even brought out the true car and explained what we wanted. Our sales rep, Brian, was very friendly and did want to work with us. We have excellent credit, a down payment and we were ready to purchase, I just wasn’t going to get swindled. Anyhow, after showing us other cars and trying to pull out vehicles we didn’t want. I was told we could never get the model we were looking for with the features we wanted. I can understand if you don’t have it at this location, but I’m certain it’s not impossible. Anyhow, that rubbed me the wrong way, but obviously it was a sales tactic so I just let it go and remained set on what we wanted. I even asked about leases with options to buy, I was considering that. I showed them the true car and they tried to justify to me that a difference of 6 thousand dollars is because «true car doesn’t include in tax tags and fees.» Except… That «fee» is only 637. Anyhow, when Brian finally brought over Wayne, the manager who «can make things happens.» He already came by trying to be relatable to us and be our friend, which is fine except after the hundredth time of trying to relate. I also felt it was a way to pressure the sale on us.
After the 10^th time of Wayne trying to relate to us about where were from and finding an in, rather than discussing business he got frustrated. We discussed true car, I showed him the price given the location and he tried to claim they were going based off of true car but weren’t! I kept explaining that and he kept saying true car didn’t have all the add ons. I asked him for the break down of all of the charges and they said they didn’t have it.
Finally he was clearly angry and frustrated, he snapped at me and aggressively told me he wouldn’t get it to anywhere near true car and we wouldn’t be doing business and walked off! I was in complete Awe!
There are many ways to do business and to overcome objections. I am also by no means claiming to be the easiest sale in the world. However, that was completely unprofessional and out of line. As a result I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH ANY STOKES DEALER!!! Clearly this is acceptable, as I’m sure I’m not the only to have this experience with Wayne. This place just lets you know that it’s high pressure sales and aggressive behavior when THEY don’t get their way. I will gladly drive wherever I have to, to never EVER do business at a stokes dealership. I know that one sale may not mean much to these money hungry salesmen but I certainly hope I can have an impact on anyone else purchasing a vehicle. Go to ANY OTHER TOYOTA DEALER!!!
They want you to pay top dollar and get aggressive and frustrated with you when you won’t, or are informed and educated.
If you’re ready to get ripped off, go to these scam artists!

Overall I would rate my car buying experience as OK. My sales guy, Jaime, did a great job of showcasing the vehicle and listening to my concerns and helping me get the best deal possible on my new car. I would caution anyone who goes to this dealership in the future as the experience I had with their finance department was horrible. I understand that it’s their job to try and get people to sign up for the additional warranties however I do think Glenn in finance needs a little refresher on customer service. After presenting me all the option, i politely declined any further add ons and he would not take no for an answer. After every document signed he kept asking, ‘have you changed your mind you?” He even went as far to say, «well you’re stupid for not buying this.» I work in sales as well and have never heard of someone calling their customer stupid. It was one of the most uncomfortable situations I have ever been a part of and had I not already signed documents before meeting with Glenn I would have gotten up and left right then and there. He definitely left a bad taste in my mouth about this dealership and I will not buy a vehicle from them again. I have never had someone belittle me and speak in such a condescending manner. I have written Toyota directly and hope the appropriate actions will be taken.

DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM HERE. THEY ARE LEMONS. I bought a used car here two weeks ago and in the time I’ve owned it I’ve had to take it to their service center three times to get parts replaced such as the catalytic converter, the O2 sensor, the fuel pump, brake pads, brake rotors, some exhaust pipes, etc (most of which are parts that they advertise as «certified fully functional» to you when you purchase your car) and today the check engine light came on AGAIN. Pretty sure the transmission is also bad. clearly their service department is also incompetent, seeing as they’ve repeatedly told me «we’ve fixed everything» only to have something else go bad THAT SAME DAY. Not to mention I’ve had to go in like three times to resign loan information because they kept screwing things up in finance. Plus, their one manager rob is one of the most condescending and aggressive men I’ve ever met. The only positive thing I can say is that they’ve said I can return the car. Too bad that would mean I would no longer have a car.

We purchased a 2015 Tundra from here. Everyone is very courteous and extremely helpful. The dealership has a game system to help occupy the kids and tv’s. The buying experience can be a long process but the folks at Stokes Brown made it a very good experience.

I have now been living in the Hilton Head/​Bluffton area for 22 days after living in NYC/​New York State area for 55 years. I have been very happy with the service and honest feedback which I have received while working with Marvin, (Service Assoicate), and because of him Stokes Brown has made a new customer. I was dreading going into a dealership to purchase a new car. BUT Stokes Brown Toyota made it a great experience! Brette took great care of me and James was a wonderful finance «guy» to work with. I received lots of friendly smiles from everyone there and felt appreciated too!

In Hilton Head vacationing, lacking something to do while hubby golfed. He suggested I go to see a Prius, out of curiosity.(We live in the mountains of PA and own 2 Subarus), Dave Wilder showed me the brand new model Prius V. I fell in love. I took hubby back there next day… and we have this beauty in our hotel parking lot as I type. Dave and the others at Stokes made this an incredibly easy, smooth, even pleasant (a word seldom heard in car buying) experience. They are driving our car back to PA, picking up our other car in trade. Could not have been a better experience.
