Best experience ever :-) and my teenager has gorgeous teeth now! Thank you Kawa orthodontics! We will see you again when the little brother is in need for his braces…

I took my daughter to Dr Kawa when she was young because when her permanent teeth starting came in I knew she would need braces so I wanted a professional opinion to know what to expect for the upcoming future. They did x-​rays and told me she needed braces right away because her jaw did not align properly. She still had baby teeth so I told them I would prefer to wait until all her permanent teeth come in to proceed. They basically made me feel like a terrible Mother for trying to wait and informed me I was making a huge mistake of which will cause her great pain in her future. Here we are in the future; my daughter is 22 now and she has had 2 sets of braces which have caused her to have 2 root canals (prepping for the 3^rd this week) 8 total cavities, very thin porous stained teeth. Every dentist she has been to says the braces ruined her teeth because the first set was left on too long and the molar brackets were used for both sets of braces and they should have been removed after the first set. Needless to say other than the $ 8k plus I paid Dr Kawa, I have paid over $ 5k for additional work on her teeth. She should have a beautiful smile yet her teeth are already shifting because they are too weak to use a retainer and the stains look horrible. When they first took the second set of braces off I inquired about the stains and was told they would wear off, that was 6 years ago. When she had to have the first 2 root canals when she was 17 years old I wrote him a letter and asked him to cover the cost my insurance didn’t pay because the dentist said it was his responsibility. He of course refused and said he had nothing to do with the maintenance of her teeth. He claims to give back to the community but in my opinion he takes and takes and takes some more. He refuses to acknowledge that he has made any mistakes of which I would like to see him penalized not only for my daughters terrible smile but for others he has wronged.

I know this place looks nice so you ASSUME it is successful, PLEASE do not use them! My daughter needed a tiny bit of work — align her midlines and move her bite over ever so slightly to the left of which they told me would take 9 months. At the first visit they slapped the braces on and said see you in 2 months. My son and I had braces elsewhere and our appointments were always 1 month, but ok. 2 months later we returned and told the ortho that my daughter felt no movement and no pain at all, with my sons and mine… we felt it big time. They told me ‘they do not shock the teeth into movement’ but that they did it slowly. I told the office manager that we want to be seen every month as 2+ months in between when you are working on only 9-​months it would make sense. They scoffed and told me they cannot rush it, but at this rate nothing was changing. Every appointment they looked at her teeth and suggested rubber band moves. Long story short — 16 months later my daughter went in and they thought they looked good so took off her braces. They put on her permanent retainers. I happened to walk over to see what her new smile looked like… it was EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHEN SHE CAME IN. just with more gaps in between her teeth now. They were going to let us go with no changes at all for $ 3200! I assume the gaps were from my daughter having her wisdom teeth out a few months ago with braces on They were going to let us go, after paying 3200.00, with NO results. The same teeth we walked in with, and worse with gaps. They were non-​apologetic, the one ortho was always rude when we questioned ANYTHING. After about an hour the 2 orthos sat down and talked about my daughters case together, along with the clinical manager, and the orthos admitted they did not have a plan for her. That from this moment forward they will have the patients picture pop up and the reason they are working on it. It seems they were just doing a general alignment of the teeth and not addressing the midline or bite at all. 16 months my daughter wore metal brackets, tearing up the inside of her mouth, food getting stuck, not smiling in pics or attending certain functions… for NOTHING. 4 days later they finally chose to reimburse us for services not delivered. DO NOT GO HERE. They should have had plans. They treat the patient numbly, without talking, explanations, etc. NOT A GOOD PLACE. By the way, Dr. Kawa told my husband on the phone (only time we talked in 16 months) and he said they did move her teeth and that he would be willing to show me on the records, DR KAWA — you were not involved and if you were MAYBE her teeth would have been CORRECTED LIKE YOU PROMISED THE FIRST TIME. You can try to blame my daughter for Rubber bands, which is not the case and I am being HONEST, it was your companies fault for not paying attention and ensuring success for my daughter who wore metal brackets on her teeth for nearly 2 years FOR NOTHING. Can you even BEGIN to understand how heartbreaking and disappointing this was?

I was a patient of Kawa Orthodontics in 2013. The office was beyond amazing, the staff and doctors were professional and friendly. My friends and neighbors were right, terrific experience and I would recommend them to a friend. World class operation!

It’s been almost two years since I got my braces and today they came off, which is why I’m finally writing this review. I know some people feel like this place is a factory, but I had a really good experience here. It’s pretty efficient, and the doctors really seem to know their stuff. But most importantly, my teeth look awesome! I had adult orthodontia, and the majority of patients are kids and teens, but I never felt uncomfortable going here and I don’t regret it one bit! Back one last time for my retainers in a couple of days!

My experience here was both good and bad — bad outweighing the good. One word to describe this place– a factory. Dr. Kawa’s a pretty smart businessman, but if only he’d concentrate on quality rather than quantity.
The positive? I came here for braces, initially, and was talked into getting Invisalign. They sold me on the fact that if at any point I was unhappy with my Invisalign treatment, they’d put regular braces on me. Appx 3+ years later, I was still doing Invisalign & in order to continue, I’d be charged $ 250, so I took them up on their offer and got regular braces.
Their saltwater fishtanks are pretty neat. They help ease the pain of sometimes having to wait 15 – 30 minutes past your appointment time.
The negative? There’s a huge communication gap between the receptionists, the techs, and the doctors. It’s impossible to get in touch with your doc. I had an «emergency» with my invisalign, but the receptionist said the next open appointment available for my «type» of service was about a week from when I called, so I took it (not knowing any better). By the time my appointment came, my teeth had shifted and I needed a refinement done for which they said I «may need» to pay $ 250. Had the receptionist took the time to consult with my doctor, they would’ve squeezed me in to take care of the issue prior to my teeth shifting. I expressed my aggrevation to a co-​worker who took her son here by my recommendation, and she mentioned it while discussing her displeasure with the practice to Dr. Kawa– I received a phone call from him concerning my displeasure which was nice, but it was a situation that could’ve been easily avoided.
At my latest follow-​up, the doctor (not my usual doc) barely checked my teeth/​retainers which was the purpose of the visit. I asked if my retainers could be switched to a different kind because of comfort issues, and she said I’d have to wait for my regular ortho to return. The tech ASSURED me I’d receive a phone call upon his return (I even watched her write down my name/​number on a piece of paper) but it’s been at least a month and– SURPRISE– no phone call.
I could call the office and try getting in touch with him but I’d rather save myself the stress of a) trying to get in touch with him and b) having to go back there.
You’ll rarely get in at your actual appointment time. They have so many patients stuffed into their schedule that you’ll almost always have to wait– often times longer than it takes for them to do whatever it is they need to do with you.
Upon checking out, if you have to schedule a future appointment, you’ll stand in front of the receptionist station awkwardly waiting for one of them to look up and recognize that you’re there.
I can think of one receptioniste who is nice both in person and on the phone, but I’ve encountered others –on the phone– who need a bit of an attitude adjustment.
Seems like this place has a high turnover for orthodontists. I originally came here for a particular doctor, but she left the practice not long after, and I can only imagine why.
All in all, the numerous televisions, video games, fish tanks etc. are quite fancy and quite impressive, but not to an adult who knows what’s really important when going to an orthodontist (or any place for that matter) — consistently, good service.
This place was recommended to me by a close friend and I’d curse her everytime I had an issue with them. Before the drama, I sent a coworker here– but our word of mouth recommendations have ended not only after my experience as a whole, but hers as well.

If you’ve seen Shrek 2 you’ll know what I’m talking about. This place reminds me of fairy godmother’s potion factory except its a braces factory where they pump out braces after braces. I was looking into getting braces for my son since he has replaced most of his baby teeth.
The facility is really nice with lots of fish tanks with really interesting fishes and corals. You’re systematically moved from one place to another getting x-​rayed, examined and quoted by a sales person. I felt like I was at a used car dealership with a pushy sales rep really trying to sell me the braces. It really made me feel like she was working for commission and she was disappointed/​annoyed that I didn’t make an appointment right then and there. Really trying to sell me til the end making it seem like I was refusing treatment for a kid with a serious medical condition. They’re just braces and people wear them at any age.
The doctor came in for 5 minutes and he was really nice though. The quote she gave me didn’t even matter because the letter I received a few days later was talking about a whole different type of treatment than what she quoted me so I never found out which treatment plan was actually needed or how much it was going to cost. Oh well…

Although I did not get any work done from Kawa Orthodontics, but my consultation for my seven year old son was not a comforting experience. I must admit that the office is very beautiful, with aquariums all throughout the office, but it feels JUST like a factory. They seemed like swindlers and tried to convince me that my son needed major work done and braces quick! At one point they even took my son away for X-​rays and tried to have me stay behind while they whisked him away, which I did not allow… where my son goes. I GO! They double talked a lot and at the end made me feel like I was purchasing a new car. Always go with your first instinct. I will get a second opinion and highly doubt they will go near my son’s teeth. They also tried to convince me to start a payment plan for over a period of 18 months with a hefty deposit. His adult teeth aren’t even fully in yet… Be very cautious when you visit them… they sell a good package, but something about this practice screams rip-​off
