I saw Dr. Lacayo last summer in order to get help balancing my hormones and hopefully become healthier and lose a little weight in the process. The first thing she did was put me on a 7-​day detox including morning shakes, a nutrition plan and a homeopathic liver cleanse. She is also the first doctor to told me to go off gluten 100% without compromise. I had been avoiding it most of the time but not completely.
I do feel more energized and lost about 7 lbs. Going off wheat has made a huge difference in my GI tract and the way my skin looks. I used to think the whole gluten-​free thing was a fad. Now I realize I’ve been sensitive to wheat my entire life. I’ve tested negative for Celiac numerous times!
As much as a few simple changes and prescriptions have made a difference in my well being, I can’t fully recommend them for the following reasons:
— Dr. Lacayo is no longer there. The doctor who filled in couldn’t have cared less. He didn’t go over my lab results at all but tried selling me on growth hormones. I understand he is no longer there either.
— You can’t ever get anyone on the phone to help with prescriptions or billing questions. You always get the answering service, and often it takes multiple calls and emails to get a return call. They need to greatly improve their service issues and people skills. The two staff members I’ve found helpful and who cared are Sarah and Stephanie.
— They sell you on very expensive supplements that must be purchased through them and are not available elsewhere. I’ve walked out with bills between $ 200 and $ 800 each visit. That’s just prescriptions and supplements.
— The compounding pharmacy they use is more expensive than others and doesn’t take insurance.
— I received multiple erroneous invoices for visits my insurance had already reimbursed them for. It took a lot of effort, emails, faxes and phone calls over several months to get it resolved.
I do believe you can find help here you won’t get at a conventional doctor’s office, as they take a more functional approach. No shrugging it off to «getting older». You do get more personal attention and counseling, instead of the usual 10 minute visit.
That said, I did get the feeling that their approach wasn’t necessarily customized to me, but rather they use a standard battery of expensive supplements for everyone.

This is a great clinic with a team of professional staff. I was recommended to this place by a family friend. Before, I came here I was experiencing some health issues which were hormone related… feeling sluggish, lack of focus and generally fatigued. Three weeks in and I am experiencing a total turnaround… my energy has increased, I am thinking clearer and my hair and skin look much more fresher. Dr. Thomas is very friendly and easy to talk to, the clinic is beautiful, and the whole experience has been a positive one. I would definitely recommend!!!

The personnel were prompt and courteous. They were helpful and explained everything I needed to know. The procedure I had (PRP) on my knee went very well and within a week I had much less pain than before the procedure. I would recommend this center to anyone who has arthritic or any other kind of pain.

Very unorganized staff. No one takes responsibility. As a new patient I wasn’t even spoke to for the 1^st ½ hour that I was there. With more staff than patients they were still overwhelmed. No one in charge, I was there for 2 hours and still had to walk out. The doctor just works there she has no say in the staff, which is a shame as she is highly recommended. Two patients returned items asking for their money back. One patient said she had to aggresively complain her 1^st visit and told me you have to be very assertive with the staff as they are very inexperienced. In the 1^st ½ there they never looked at the sign in sheet. How hard is it to see 3 patients in your waiting room? Several other things wrong that add up to one big mess. Had a 3:30 appointment and at 5:30 they said they couldn’t do labs as they couldn’t find supplies.

Super friendly staff, very clean facility and quality products! Do not sacrifice price for quality this place is great and will work with you to try to accomplish your personal goals in anyway possible, contact them!

The staff and doctor are very friendly. The competency of the treatment, however, is questionable. I gained ten pounds over the three months of taking the hormones the doctor prescribed. I went to see another doctor who told me the hormones they had put me on would cause weight gain. As soon as I stopped taking the hormones my weight began dropping was back to normal within six weeks. The entire experience left me with the impression that the doctor is more concerned with getting people into her uniform treatment program than designing a program that meets each patient’s unique needs.

Before going to WHCA, it was all I could do to roll out of bed, go to work, and by the time I got home, I was exhausted! I didn’t have the energy to accomplish things I needed or wanted to get done. Cook dinner, play with my children, go to the gym, have a date night with my husband… forget about it! Now, I have so much energy, I feel like I’m 25 again! Not only do I have positive changes in my appearance and the way I feel, I can see how happy it makes my family that I am able to be so happy and energized!

I was referred to Wellness and hormone Centers of America by a friend of mine at the gym. The facility was beautiful, the people were friendly, and the doctor was great.
She spent all the time I needed to address the cause of the two problems that were bothering me.
Two and one half months later, I am still on the hormone and nutraceutical program that doctor gave me.
I feel as good as I’ve ever felt before.
I have referred several of my friends to the center and they seem to be very pleased.

Dr Lacayo has been helping me with a long term health concern of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. Her thorough approach has helped me to reduce my symptoms and she has got me feeling better than I have in years. If you are looking for a Dr who spends time to uncover your health history and delve deeper to get to the root of your issues, then I would highly recommend this place.
