Diekmann’s Bay Store

Not really that great, pretty basic and junk food. Small section of groceries. Your better off going to pelican plaza grocery first then checking here for things you couldn’t find. Better off buying honestly before you head into bodega because there isn’t many options.

We stop by here yearly to fill up on necessities during our Bodega Bay vacation.
Has everything you need, but won’t destroy the bank.

Mostly all junk food… lower quality than 7 – 11! Nothing healthy to buy as a local general store and service was non existent when we entered.

Good little store for basic needs and, like many others have written, they have a little bit of everything. VERY expensive so if you can shop in advance, I’d say do it. We did and were very happy about that. Parking was easy during the week. I imagine it being more difficult at the weekend.

The store is more like a convenience store, with the small generalized selection and slightly higher prices, than a grocery store. However, it’s one of a very few options in Bodega Bay.
We bought some basics — eggs, bread, and chips — and skipped the prepared foods and pizza which looked like it had been sitting out a little while.
If you’re in the area and need some staples, it’s fine. If you have time or are picky, you’re probably better off visiting a larger store somewhere else.

We went here because we needed matches and they do have some of everything so it’s a good place to know if you’re in the area. Parking is very good too. Only three stars because they seriously need a mop and some soap in this joint… wow. I’m surprise folks actually eat here.

Great place to get all your needs.
A little pricey if you needs meds like tylenol but that should be expected given the location.
The pizza we orderd was a supreme style and it was actually pretty dam good, tasted very fresh and this was 30 min from closing time.
They have a mass variety of all kinds of things.
Also the parking lot is kool if you just want to relax a bit and enjoy the view.

This lil place is great! The young man that helped me at the register a few weekends ago was so nice and helpfull. They have taffey here too! After the other stores close, they seem to close early on sundays, this place is open and has them in little bags :) this store is a great stop while out enjoying the ocean.

Okay, so aside from the assortment of items being sold such as miscellaneous camping supplies, fishing paraphernalia, beer, ice cream, and sweatshirts, Diekmann’s ALSO has a deli where they sell this scrumptious crab roll.
When I asked the cashier about the crab roll, her eyes widened with awe and assured me it was delicious.
And she was right. She was so, so, so, so very right.
I am salivating just writing about it. The crab roll is pure perfection. It’s this generous portion of astoundingly fresh crab meat on a magnificently fresh, fluffy sesame seed bun that has been lightly toasted, buttered, aaaaand smeared with a thin layer of roasted garlic.
It’s…it’s just so breathtakingly simple and so perfect. Taking a bite is just bliss. You get a mouthful of fresh picked crab meat, the crunch of the lightly toasted bun that has soaked up the butter, and a hint of roasted garlic.
Just, unnnnffffffff, so good.
I also really appreciate that Diekmann’s doesn’t gouge campers and tourists unlike other stores in the area. The service is really friendly and helpful!

We stopped in more than a few times here not only to grab groceries but to grab simple things that we may have forgotten (and it’s funny how much you can forget when doing some light travel). Great shop with lots of different things to offer along with a deli.

This store has saved my life on not one but two occassions. The first time was back in April after a full day in Guerneville, Armstrong State Redwoods and the Sonoma Coast. We were heading back south on Highway 1 and it was getting later in the day.
Not knowing Bodega Bay and what lay ahead, this place was like a beacon of joy for drinks and snacks! Easy parking, lots of variety for road trip snacks and even a number of sundries for those folks that may be camping nearby. They do take credit cards, but I believe there is a $ 5 minimum. There is also a deli and pizza available.
Right next store is a separate gift shop with some Bodega Bay souvenirs-​they may close earlier than the convenience store since I don’t remember it being open later in the day this past April. However, this past Saturday that section was wide open and lots of folks were stopping in. Saturday after several adventures along the coast we needed sustenance for the long ride home and Diekmann’s once again saved the day!

Convenience store/​market/​hot food.
We went for beer and wine. The place was busy and I was amused by all the people there ordering their pizza. It didn’t look that great but it was hot cakes there. It seemed like everyone was grabbing a slice.
It was great coming across a convenience store. We were in and out, easy. Least favorite thing about it: Panhandlers outside the store.

Eh… The place is a bit grungy inside. Definitely catering to maybe some of the locals that live behind the area in the trailer park. The food is not that appealing, I would pass it up and go somewhere else.

Yes, this is a general store packed full of stuff you may need. And, yes, if the kids are clamoring for beach food, you will find pizza and burgers and fries and all of that stuff. But, the reason I always check in at Diekmann’s when I’m driving through Bodega Bay is because they will occasionally offer some incredible Indian food. Yes, you read that right! My favorite is their lamb curry. If they’re serving up Eastern treats, they will announce that fact on their chalkboard sign in the parking lot, so, if you’re driving through, keep your eyes open for it.

While driving along the coast I found myself in need of some water to whet my whistle. Hey, looking at the ocean can make a girl thirsty! So after taking some amazing photos and playing in the sand a bit, my friend Mindy and I hit the road for Napa. But not without stopping into Diekmann’s first. Here you’ll find the usual suspects… Gatorade, all varieties of soda, bottled water, Corn Nuts, Hostess Products (though maybe not for long!) and more. Like any other convenience store around the US or even the world, this is a great spot to grab some snacks for the road.

My boyfriend remembers getting pizza from here when he would come to Bodega Bay with his family growing up. So we had to check it out!
We called ahead for pizzas and it was ready when they said it would be. The pizzas tasted great, would definitely come here again.
Also, they have a variety of foods and things you might need if you run out or forgot to pack.

I make trips to and vacation at Bodega quite frequently. There is always something I forget, and this place always has it. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. Seriously. Everything from cigarettes to underwear, to dive boots in like every size. Fresh breads and a huge amount of grocery items. The staff is friendly and the owner is great. Delicious pizzas and potato wedges. Try their hot coffees & cocoa too!

We stopped here for an inexpensive lunch. There was mainly sandwiches and pizza. We all had sandwiches and they were very good. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only downfall was that there was no tables to eat at. It would be great if they could put a picnic bench outside. We suggest you pickup lunch first then go to one of the beaches or parks to eat. Great place for an inexpensive lunch.

For sandwiches, I would say go across the street to the Pelican grocery. However, the people are very friendly and the prices aren’t too shocking. They have a good selection for such a small store and there is plenty of parking.
A nice convenient little spot to get you on your way.

For a tiny store they have some pretty specific shit. I got a tiny bulb for a dive light, watch batteries, spray paint. Good in a cinch!
That being said: I wouldn’t eat here or anywhere else in town, unless your tastebuds are dead and you have money falling out of your ass.
