Great Harvest Bread Co.

Came here for a few loaves of bread – one to add to a gift basket I was putting together for a friend and a couple of others for home.
I love Great Harvest Bread. We settled on their honey whole-​wheat for the gift basket, which is a bread I’m quite familiar with and is always a good choice. For home, we got the asiago sourdough which I love. It’s not a San Francisco quality sourdough, but given that’s sort of contingent on salt air, which, Boise doesn’t have – it’s an awesome dense white bread with a great asiago flavor (the smell of that bread toasting! Omg! Amazing!!). We also got a loaf of their cinnamon burst bread, which my kiddo quite enjoys but I find just ok. Given a choice of their sweet bread offerings – I’d go for cranberry orange (they have it on Wednesdays).
A few random notes:
+They do get busy and sell out of some of their breads quickly. When I went in, I was hoping for a loaf of their Challah – but was told they were out and wouldn’t have any more for a couple hours (bummer).
+They have a bread rack which faces the entry – most of the breads are baked that day, but the breads on the very bottom two shelves are yesterdays baked goods and can be purchased at a discount.
+ They have a punch card – buy 10 loaves, get one free.
+ They always offer a sample slice to every customer – it’s always fresh baked and amazing. Seriously, go for it!

This place was a very nice surprise on the west side of town! My husband and I just finished spending moola at Bed Bath and Beyond down the street and was hankering for a sandy. Unilocal suggested we try Great Harvest Bread Co.
Upon walking in, the associated offered us a couple free samples of their break. Free samples are a slice a bread each! Every bread was tasty and scrumptious! I cant remember which sandwich we got, but it also was amazing! Don’t forget to Unilocal chick-​in to the place, because they will give you a free cookie!
I can’t wait to return. I am coming to buy loaves of bread next time!

The food here is delicious. I like watching them make it in front of me. I like their many varieties of bread to choose from. And their cookies are fantastic. They are a little spendy for the amount of food you get.

I cannot believe the previous review I read about the rueben sandwich. I just ate the damn thing and couldn’t be more disappointed. There was literally ONE SLICE of pastrami. ONE EFFIN SLICE. Anyone who has ever eaten a rueben knows quite a bit better than this. I can’t describe the anger over spending seven fifty on a «rye» bread sandwich comprised of onion and sauer kraut. While we’re at it, I could use more sauer kraut, BUT ONLY IF THERE’S SOME PASTRAMI ON THERE.
This experience flat out sucked. I am angry or hangry and I’m going to have a beer now. My wife really enjoys their hummus veggie, oddly enough, without the hummus. She can give them five stars when she gets a Unilocal account. For now, I’ll never eat here again. I mean, what’s the point of a sandwich like the one I described…
I should add that my wife’s cheaper veggie sandwich was almost twice the size of my more expensive rueben. That was a pisser.

Excellent home made goodness! Everything is fresh and delicious, made from all natural ingredients. We visit often and it never disappoints.

The pastrami sandwich is an art that seems so simple, yet perfection is so difficult to attain. Great Harvest Bread Co. does it on the spot. I have been in Idaho for 7 years now, almost 8, and this place served me the best pastrami sandwich I have ever enjoyed in Idaho. Possibly my whole life. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who likes to enjoy a great sandwich. They are a bakery so their bread is phenomenal. All in all, this place is the greatest! I am definitely coming back for my next sandwich.

A great place to go if all you want is a sample of bread and to buy either a cookie or a loaf of bread.
As far as the sandwiches go, there are much better options. All the cheese is processed cheese (I asked, they said it wasn’t, I got sick 20 minutes later because it was). And their sandwiches are uninventive and quite boring.
On the other hand, getting a huge slice of bread to slather butter on is yummy!

Took my mom for lunch here today. It was the first time eating there for both of us and it was a terrific experience! We were greeted by the owner Will who took the time to explain about their different breads and sandwiches. He offered us a complimentary slice of hot fresh bread while we waited for our sandwiches to be made. We ordered turkey avocado sandwich combos that came with a full sandwich, chips a drink and a HUGE cinnamon roll. Everything tasted amazing! We used groupons we had purchased so it made it ridiculously affordable. The dining room was bright and spacious and smelled like hot fresh bread. I was impressed with everything– food, service, prices and atmosphere! Defiantly going back soon!

Love Great Harvest! We love their sandwiches, the bread and all the yummy goodies you can get there. The brownies are amazing, the scones are to die for. The best thing about this GH though is the customer service. You get a free slice of fresh bread when you come in. The staff are so friendly and helpful to each person in line and definitely go above and beyond. Can’t say enough good things about Great Harvest!

Great Harvest is amazing. Talk about incredible bread, food, and customer service. Everytime you walk in you are always offered a slice of bread with complimentary butter and honey. They make fresh loaves daily and rotate through various delicious flavors. Check out the 50% off shelf-​great deals there. One time they just gave us a loaf of bread and some broken cookies for free… Yum! Their sandwiches and baked goods are also fantastic. Also have a variety of peanut butters, honeys, and jams for sale. This bakery supports local businesses.

I don’t care if this a chain… I LOVE IT! They give huge samples of their bread and ALL of them are delicious. I mean, literally everything I’ve tried has made me want to learn how to bake fresh bread at home… or at least kidnap their baker for my carbolicious pleasure!
The one thing I actually CRAVE all year (because they only make it around the holidays) is the PUMPKIN ROLL. I don’t care that I have to travel to the middle of nowhere, as long as I can have some pumpkin roll!
