Powerhouse Event Center

This is the worst place. My daughter worked here for a few venues in January. She was not paid until March and that was after many calls! They mailed a check and she deposited it. Today I found out the check was returned for insufficient funds. She contacted Jeff Jerome and was told he was going to pay her cash and the fees she incurred. Currently $ 28. She went to pick this up and took people with her. They went to the front and no answer. After several minutes they went to the back just as Jeff was trying to hurry and leave out the back door. His excuse was well there was a death in the family. Uh that excuses your insufficient funds check? He told her he was not paying cash and she could come Tuesday for a check. Laughable. As for the fees he laughed in her face. He said he is not paying because that’s her personal problem. It’s her personal problem for your insufficient check for her wages?
As they walked to the car the other person in the car said as soon as they went to the back Jenifer Yager hurried out the front door to her car. I will not allow her to «wait» for another insufficient check. She will go file a claim with wage and hour with the department of labor and I will be forced to come a small claims lawsuit for the fees incurred because of them.
What a piss poor way of running a business.

If I could give them a –10, I would. This is such a terribly ran company it’s not even funny. We placed a deposit for a film festival over the phone, and they never provided us with a contract. After deciding to change dates and move to another location, I gave them written notice two months in advance and was promised by Jenifer to have a refund issued from the «accounting» department. This was in April of 2015. That refund never came. After time passed, Jeff stated their «legal» department had to review our request first. Then they told me I couldn’t receive the refund, but my former biz partner had to on his card. He was fine and helping with this also. That refund never came. Many months of back and forth correspondence and running in circles with «legal» proved that Jeff is the one controlling «legal» and «accounting» emails. We finally lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, to which Powerhouse never replied. After that, Jeff contacted me and stated he was issuing the refund and told BBB this as well. That refund was to come to the original card of payment by Nov 5. It did not. He told us that the «card numbers didn’t match», but at that point I had lodged a complaint with the attorney general’s office after seeing they have over 32 LLC filings in Idaho AND have been sued around 50 times. (all public record) Jeff mailed a check to my former biz partner and when he went to Chase bank to cash it was told by the teller that it was written on a closed account. We called Boise Police Department and reported that. That same day, Jeff showed up at my home when I was away and told my teenage son that he worked with me and was dropping off my paycheck. He gave my son a cashiers check and had him sign his phone to acknowledge it. Jeff told me in a message that «Action Couriers» has my signature as receiving it. I showed my son Jeff’s picture and he said that was him. I encourage people to do their own due diligence and investigate this management company thoroughly before giving them any money.

My husband and I held our wedding at this event center. We fell in love with the building and our wedding day turned out to be an absolutely beautiful event. The staff was accommodating and spent lots of time communicating with me in terms of decorating, coordinating deliveries, and the overall order of the wedding day. The manager was there on the day of our wedding which helped in delegating staff responsibilities. The day of went mostly pretty smooth, however, I did hear from my wedding decorator, parents, and others, that some of the set up staff was either not present or didn’t perform quality work as they were expected. That gave my family extra work to help make the reception area look better. This included little details mostly, but beauty is truly in the details. Other than that, the caterer provided quality food and service. We got to use real plates and silverware in the package we had with the caterer. The building was extremely easy to decorate; it really dressed itself considering the beautiful brick and high walls. We didn’t pay for the bar for that day due to budget reasons so that made the drinks self serve. I do wish that it was more affordable so that it would have made it easier for the guest not to have to worry about manning the bar or pouring it for themselves. I did lose two large tablecloths and the staff couldn’t find them after the clean up so that would have been bad situation when returning if I rented them; luckily I bought them on discount. The hardest part was the transition because we did our ceremony downstairs as well as our reception. It wasn’t very convenient because we needed lots of extra help but after the set up was over, it ended up flowing very nicely. The overall cost of the event center was more affordable on a Sunday and the manager honored a winter discount for us even though we got married in March since we paid for the event center during the winter. I also got to use a room upstairs as my bridal prep room, no extra charge, which was very convenient since we did my hair and make up there for our pre-​wedding pictures. The pictures ended up being absolutely beautiful against the unique building and I am so very happy with them. Luckily, it was a sunny day and the light came in through the windows which made the photography inside just as beautiful. Considering the number of people we had attend, it was a little crowded. I wish they had more of one type of table because we had to use long rectangular tables, rounds, and square tables. The variety was nice but really inconvenient in buying linens. I would have loved to have just longs or rounds. However, I am grateful that they even had tables for us to use. It cut out a huge expense in renting tables and chairs. I really liked working with the manager in prepping for the event but there were times it was difficult to get ahold of her when I had important questions. Overall, my wedding day was super exhausting and I could not have done it without the help of the staff and family that were there. As I look back at my pictures, I can’t help but feel so very happy with our decision. The building complimented our 1920’s mobster/​classy theme. I can’t say enough how much I LOVED this building! It has so much character and has a very easy atmosphere. I would recommend the building for a small ceremony (upstairs) and reception (downstairs) if you also want a bar and dance floor. Skipping the transition will make things much easier. Our guest size was borderline between comfortable and crowded but it still worked. There are many other options as well but I find that may be more convenient for everyone. I highly recommend this beautiful event center for a wedding! It made our day special and unforgettable.

I have been to the powerhouse in the past and it is a unique building to Idaho. You don’t find such history and modern urban style combined in many buildings in this area. The food was pretty good and the venue was excellent. Since the new owners took over, I have noticed that it is a lot cleaner. There are still a wide variety of events here where you can have martial arts, zumba and poker night, concerts, art shows, and fashion shows. I think it looks amazing for weddings, as well. When the tables are all set up, it looks amazing and it is large enough for a nice wedding and has a unique combination of elegance, character, modernism, that really makes it stand out. It is a memorable location.
The place is just the right size for a rock concert in my opinion. It isn’t too big so you feel like you are part of it and can see the faces of the performers. It is nice to be close to the band and seeing them from above is pretty cool, too. For a mid size event it is exceptional. The building has such a style to it that it adapts to any event and adds a coolness you just can’t fake. 100+ year old brick just looks fantastic. There just aren’t that many interesting buildings in town that can match the character and charm of this two story interior, and the mezzanine view. My son went to the prom here and loved it!
The new caterers are better and that’s saying something because Kanak attack is pretty good.
I love the historical nature of the old brick, the big, open floor plan and the industrial staircase. The mezzanine is nice since you can see what’s going on below and if it is a bit crowded and hot, the mezzanine is more comfortable.
For an event center, I think this is my favorite in the city. I am continually amazed at the wide variety of events I get invited to at this place! There are other places in town, but the architecture, history and style of this place are fabulous and I would choose it first for any event.

I have attended and been apart of several events here. The venue itself has a very cool industrial feel to it. Has two bars, one up and one downstairs. The kitchen is very small and no real space to serve food. It does have a stage and house sound system. The place is a little dirty. There was a lot of drama with new ownership, and a lot of people got burned in the process. I hope the new owners can change the place and clean it up a bit.
