Have enjoyed everything that we’ve tried. Clear that they are interested in putting out quality food. The Duck Noodle Soup is delicious. Reminds me of the richness and depth of flavor you would get with a Phở, but with Thai spices.

A Thai place that also offers sushi. I got some to see how awful it was. It was, frankly, disgusting. Do not repeat that experiment of mine. I took one for the team so you don’t have to, but if you follow me off the cliff, you have no one to blame but yourself in the short time before you hit. Fair warning. The Chicken Satay was ghastly. Apparently appetizers are not really their thing. Entrée’s were better. The Pad Prik Khing, which I’ve apparently settled into as my Thai litmus test rather than the ubiquitous Pad Thai that we all know and are bored by or the Drunken Noodles I kinda sorta expected it to be or the Pad See Ew, which had a good run for a minute and was showing signs of being«the one»…where was I going with this… right, the PPK was pretty good here. Not great and not up to Taste Of Thai, in terms of taste, anywhere and not at all in league of the places in Salt Lake, but pretty solid and more or less in the upper echelon. Green tea needed work and the service was what I like to think of as quintessential Asian, which is to say, ambivalent. My actual Chinese and Vietnamese friends call this«poker-faced», when describing that kind of service, which implies a strictness that wasn’t pleasant here, but same idea. This is a tiny place and the mix seemed to be oddly misplaced white people and Thai people. Curious. If you go, you may wind up waiting a bit. I would consider this again, but while I’m still sort of in a canvassing phase, it probably won’t be for a while and only if I couldn’t get into somewhere better, such as Taste Of Thai… unless I didn’t have the patience for that place… always a very real possibility.

Our fiend, Golf is the(new?) owner here. Amazing. The white rice is top notch, the Tom Kha perfect, and hold onto your hat if you like peanut dishes– the«Swimming» dish is unbelievable. Chef sent us a special smoky sushi plate. Don’t know what it is, but it was wonderful. The service was 100% spot on. You need to put this on your Thai/sushi list.

I don’t ever leave reviews, but this place deserves to be known! I’ve been in the restaurant industry for about 25 years. I don’t cook, I eat out almost everyday. I love food. Sushi and Thai are some of my favorites. Siam Orchid has some of the freshest sushi, especially for being inland, and there Thai cuisine so far is remarkable! Not only that, the customer service was spectacular. It’s a family owned restaurant that makes you feel like your part of the family from the moment you walk in to the time you leave. Oh, and the prices are amazing! Go check it out, I promise you won’t regret it!!!

I am sold on the quality of the food and presentation. I have had the traditional Pad Thai, Rainbow Roll, Basil Beef, Pad Woosen and Chai Gio were amazing. I have yet to try my other favorites. Their portions are generous and service is quick and accurate. I highly recommend them to anyone. Plus Sunday is half price drinks for ladies.

This place is run by a Thai family, so we ordered Thai food — not sushi. Will have to try it sometime to see what the mixed reviews are all about. So the folks working here are very friendly and my Thai iced tea was yummy, and my wife’s curry had a great consistency and good balance of flavor. I ordered the pad thai without bean sprouts as I never got on board with the texture. Perhaps it was when I was forced to grow them for a class assignment and they looked weird to me — not sure. Anyway, I don’t like bean sprouts, and asked for them to not be in my pad thai. When our dishes arrived, there was a generous portion of bean sprouts on my plate, almost mocking me. I started picking them off when our server came over«oh! I’m so sorry — you asked for no bean sprouts!» And I said«nah it’s ok — don’t worry about it» and a few minutes of picking bean sprouts out of my dish, a new dish was brought over without bean sprouts. «We’re really sorry — please enjoy.» Wow. I wasn’t expecting that! I was very thankful and appreciated the gesture. I’m a huge fan of northern Thai dishes, specifically khao soi — which isn’t on the menu anymore but if you call ahead, they’ll make it for you. If you’re not familiar with this dish — it’s a curry egg noodle soup with chicken and crispy noodles. It’s incredible — order it!

This place definitely isn’t a 5 star spot. The sushi chef didn’t know what underbelly was. The hamachi was incredibly fishy, avocado spring rolls had no flavor even with the peanut sauce, Tom yum soup was sub-par at it’s best. Not a place I would come to for a mix of thai and sushi.

First time coming here and I got my food before my friend got her rolls we had to wait a while for her to get her food but after she did look really good and tasted pretty good. My chicken wasn’t cooked all the way and my server all she had to say was«Oh I’m sorry» The service could be a bit better. Services needs work. Really they need to get a handbook in customer services. I don’t think that I’ll come back. Good luck and hope you all get a better experience then I did for my first time here it wasn’t too good. It’s a small building but really cute.

We were so excited to try the new Thai place in town. My husband loves his Thai food spicy! After arriving, we were promptly seated and left to peruse the menu. My husband always orders the green curry, as a baseline to rate the Thai restaurants we try. Neither I, nor him were asked for a spiciness level, which we found odd. I would have liked to be asked, as I am a «low spicy» kind of person. We received our dishes fast! But to our disappointment, there was absolutely no spice in either of our dished and the flavor just wasn’t there. My husband was quick to ask for some chili paste, but the server must have forgot because we did not receive any chili paste. Side note: we did order a couple Spicy Tuna hand Rolls. Fish was fresh! I usually would give my 3 start restaurants another benefit of the doubt try, but unfortunately for the prices you pay, I think I’ll stick with our regular awesome Thai restaurant.

We’ve been looking for a good Thai restaurant in Boise and so far this is the best. I had the Pad Thai and my wife had the Emperor’s Cashew and both were exceptional. The dish comes with salad and both the peanut and ginger dressings were excellent. The restaurant was a little hard to find but it shouldn’t be as it faces Fairview between Milwaukee and Maple Grove on the north. I hope this place is around a long time as I want to try many more dishes.

Had to try the new place in town that is getting good reviews! The restaurant was quiet for a Saturday evening but it was Halloween night so I’m sure just folks were too busy trick-or-treating. We ordered a variety of things off the menu including a spicy tuna roll, green curry chicken, chicken pad Thai, and a couple other dishes I cannot pronounce(or even spell for that matter) but one of the dishes had soft shell crab and the other was a seafood dish. We were a little surprised the waitress did not ask us how spicy we wanted any of the dishes as we are used to that at some other Thai restaurants. We all would have preferred a little more kick to each of the dishes but the overall flavor of each dish was great. The green curry was thicker than most I have ordered and the color of it was more florescent green than what I am accustomed to but it still tasted good. The atmosphere was relaxing however the music they were playing in the background was a little odd for this establishment and was on a very short loop so the three or four songs kept playing. We had a good chuckle about that. Service was outstanding, everyone was friendly and helpful. The sushi chef even brought out a complimentary dish towards the end of our meal for us to try which consisted of a spicy tuna mixture on top of fried wonton skins.
Prices seemed reasonable and portion sizes were big. Give the new local shop a try! They have a big menu and there seems to be something for everyone!

A friend and I dined recently at this restaurant; primarily because of the glowing review in the newspaper. When we arrived it seemed in an unlikely location. However, upon entering you’re greeted warmly by the staff and the positive energy from the room makes you feel welcome. The restaurant is spotless. The soft music and the water fountain provide just the right amount of background sound. On to the food… Amazing is an understatement and doesn’t do justice to this gem of a restaurant. I’m not a food snob but having lived in several large Pacific Northwest cities, I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy Thai food prepared by what I consider to be experts. That said, I feel qualified to say that the food here is some of the best I’ve had. The presentation was beautiful. The ingredients were fresh and the meal perfectly seasoned. The menu is full of interesting dishes with something for everyone. We began with a spicy tuna roll from the sushi menu. Perfectly prepared and fresh! One entrée was a noodle dish with freshly cooked tender chicken and crisp vegetables. The other was green curry with noodles; velvety smooth, spicy but not overpowering. We both agreed they were delicious! The homemade coconut ice cream topped off a perfect meal. I plan to return again and often. You definitely should give this restaurant a try.

Best Thai food in Boise hands down! This is what Thai food is supposed to taste like. I have made 15 trips to Thailand since 2005 and spent over a year in total exploring various regions of the country with a focus on eating everything in sight. The dishes at Siam Orchid are some of the best I’ve had, even compared to Thailand. I highly recommend the pad krapow(fried basil) and khao man gai(Hainanese chicken). You have to call ahead for khao man gai, but it is heavenly. If you like beef, definitely try the Crying Tiger, perfect for you paleo eaters and damn tasty! I’ve also been impressed with the appetizers from the sushi bar. If you are a vegetarian, ask Chef Eddie to make you something special. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Finally, the staff here is incredible. Everyone is extremely sweet and thoughtful and this makes the whole experience at Siam Orchid a real pleasure. I wish them great success and hope that they’ll stick around Boise for a long time!

I hate to write a knee jerk reaction type review, but here goes. Total time in spent in the building was right around ten minutes. I entered a nicely decorated, totally empty little Thai restaurant with a sushi bar facing me from the back of the space. I turn right, to the greeter’s podium, and grab myself a menu. The sign said I should wait to he seated. After a minute or two of standing there, no other soul in sight, I approach the sushi bar and begin to call out. No one responds. My hallos turn into pleas for assistance. Help, I need an adult. I finally poke my head between the beer cooler and the left end of the sushi bar, where I can hear faint voices speaking in some unfamiliar dialect, punctuated by the sound of forks clinking and scraping on plates somewhere beyond the kitchen. It was happy hour somewhere, but not in my heart or this deserted place. At this point, I am literally shouting, «I want food, I have money, please, anybody, take my money!» Nothing. After, I believe, ten minutes passed, I walked back to my car, no food to bring back for my family. I don’t know what to say. Update: a fellow Unilocaler informed me that they are closed from 3 – 5 p.m. during weekdays. This is a crack-up, because I called them the night before to ask when Happy Hour is and they told me between 3 and 5 p.m. I think there is a clear and dangerous language barrier going on here.

Worst Thai ever. I eat very spicy food daily, my order was so spicy my East Indian husband couldn’t eat it! The appetizer took 45 minutes to come out and was supposed to be vegetable tempura, it was vegetables, and about 10x too much weird oily American breading. It was awful! We didn’t eat more than 10% Between the two of us, and it was $ 40. The server didn’t speak enough English to serve by a long long long shot. There were at least 4 people working but it seems like they were only there to translate for the one server. We both felt sick after eating too!

Amazing! This was my first time eating at Siam Orchid and I am hooked! It’s very cozy, clean, and everyone is extremely friendly. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, Spicy Thai Basil w/Beef(4 stars on the heat), and a Sapporo. The sushi was fresh, the Spicy Thai Basil w/Beef was the best I’ve had, and the beer was ice cold. Thank you for the great meal and friendly service, I will be back soon. :-)

Super friendly staff, fast service, great food! We were slightly put off by the fact that there were no cars in the parking lot but once we entered the establishment our worries were put to rest! The atmosphere is relaxed, the space is clean and well decorated. The food comes tastefully garnished and looks amazing. Fresh veggies graced my pad sew ew and tasted amazing for it! Do yourself a favor and drop in for a taste!!!

Ok, I love Thai food, maybe because I’ve live in Thailand our that my wife is from Thailand and cooks Thai food. What ever the case, I love Siam Orchid Restaurant. New Thai restaurant on fairview near maplegrove, the Décor and the friendly staff are great but the food is sooo good. Try the beef salad and the noodle soups, don’t forget it’s a sushi bar too. I like most of the Thai restaurants in the valley but I will have to put Siam orchid as one of the top Thai restaurants. I have been to it’s sister store in Pendleton OR and the quality and attention to detail are duplicated in Boise.

Welcoming, serene, sparkling space artfully cobbled from a beat up strip mall location formerly home to Boise’s only(now defunct) Filipino restaurant as well as a natural foods café. We have been in twice to sample lunch and dinner and we look forward to eating our way through the menu! By far the best SE Asian food we’ve had in Boise and as good as some of the best we’d had elsewhere. SERVICE The food can be slow to come out of the kitchen even when there are few diners. Servers are super friendly but there sometime seems a tag team approach borne not of plan but in the way of some are not sure of what the others have just done or what is on the menu. That said, this is a new place and these delightful folks will smooth processes out as they go. The food is the thing here. Go with patience in mind and your taste buds will thank you. A FAMILYAFFAIR I’m normally not a fan of restaurants that mix Asian foods, like Sushi and Thai. One Asian cuisine, with all the nuances and technique, is hard enough to get right. But our delightful server told us this came to be because her dad is the sushi chef and her uncle the Thai food chef. We didn’t try sushi but from the steady stream of men that came to sit on the handful of high stools at the sushi counter it seemed several were already regulars. The sushi we saw being walked by our table while as we savored a terrific Thai meal looked beautiful if that is any measure. MENUS Weekdays there is a lunch specials menu served until 3p. About a dozen options, each only $ 8 and the service includes soup or salad, spring roll, rice(except with noodle dishes) and entrée. They have recently decreased the number of offerings on the dinner menu based on diner feedback there were too many options. From my view, there are never too many options on a Thai menu. But it will be interesting to see how this evolves for what stays. You can order from the dinner menu at lunch if you ask for it. FOOD Dinner menu prices run from $ 12 to $ 15 for main dish items, as I recall, so this is in the moderate price range. Not having acquired the skill to order Thai dishes in the ‘sum rap’ pitch perfect combinations that folks who grew up eating at a Thai family table would know to do, we ordered Thai dumplings, Khao Soi and a spicy duck and noodle soup that included a perfect few crispy baby kale leaves. All were excellent flavors. They make wonderful Khao Soi($ 12). Yahoo! This mostly Burmese origin dish is not on the menu but the owner posted a photo on Unilocal and if you know to ask for it because you saw the photo, they will make it. Do yourself a favor and ask. Siam Orchid’s Khao Soi is unique from all others we’ve tried in that it includes one perfectly hard boiled egg, cut in half, and a big dice of raw red onion sprinkled across the top, neither of which we’ve ever had elsewhere. Of the three we wouldn’t order the duck soup again only because the once crispy skin on the sliced duck gets soft as it steeps in the splendid spicy broth. Noting they have crispy duck on the menu that will be a choice for another time. HEAT Heat levels run from 1 to 5. Each Thai kitchen interprets differently and here we find 2 is just right for me, normally a 3 kinda girl, and satisfies even for my spice-heat lovin’ hubby who would ask for 4 in most places. Plan accordingly. LIBATIONS Limited list of beverages. No hot SE Asian coffee, like a Vietnamese coffee, although iced Thai coffee and tea were both on menu. Our happy surprise was a split of Italian sparkling wine, Il’ Ugo which was infused with elderflower for just a bit of sweetness. The low alcohol(8%) and a nice acid balance was just right with our Thai dishes. That said, I’d deny I had this wine were I in serious wine company. ;-) THIS N THAT: 1) Parking: The strip mall where this is located has a big parking lot, decrepit but big. 2) Accessibility: One spot of parking marked wheelchair accessible but it lacks a striped access aisle for wheelchair van users. It fails Federal and state codes. Curb cut. Level in the door. Standard height tables. Accessible Loo but tight squeeze to get to it. 3) Diners: On a Saturday visit about half the diners were speaking Asian languages with each other and the staff. That suggested authenticity to me. 4) Hours: Closed 3 — 5 on weekdays. Open straight through on weekends.

Just happened to notice this please a few days ago, Thai and sushi in the same place. Take my money! Golf and Eddie are awesome. Making sure you like your food and are happy with it. They gave us s few things to try, and didn’t charge us for it. Good hand rolls, nori was nice and crisp. Nigiri was great. Rolls were decent, but I usually don’t like them anyway. Thai chicken dish was awesome. Love the cucumber salad. Prices are the lowest in the valley, and the food is close to on par with Kyoto and Fujiyama. I’m planning on what to get on my next visit.
