History

Established in 1975.

The first Melting Pot opened in April of 1975 in Maitland, Fla. — just outside of Orlando. It was a cozy, quaint location and its first menu consisted of just three items: Swiss cheese fondue, beef fondue and a chocolate fondue dessert. However, as the restaurant’s popularity expanded, so did its menu and ambiance.

Today, with more than 142 locations across 36 states, The District of Columbia, Canada and Mexico and with more than 19 locations under development, The Melting Pot Restaurants Inc., is North America’s première fondue restaurant franchise. The Melting Pot opened its first international location in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in the spring of 2010. The company opened its second international location in Mexico City, Mexico, in December 2010. Six locations are currently in development in three provinces of Canada as well as six more units in development in Mexico.

The Melting Pot of Boise has been open since 2005 and has recently changed ownership in September of 2010.
