I walk in for my first time and was so delighted by the attentive service: so personal, gracious and encouraging. I wasn’t yet decided so I glanced over the locally-inspired, inventive menu. But when I saw bone broth, I about teared up. The chicken broth was utterly delicious. Perhaps a little better than mine, by a tad. :) The coffee was fantastic and my the salads so fresh and nourishing. Highly recommended!

First the good — the space is adorable, food is beautifully composed and presented and the ingredients are SUPER fresh. Unfortunately nothing I had today was that tasty. Ordered the tuna nicoise wrap with their side salad and a bowl of their bone broth, chicken. Everything tasted ok, but for the price I want better than okay. And the tuna was a little on the fishy side. I guess when you consider how fresh their ingredients are I don’t feel that ripped off, but I still want more than«eh, it was alright». The bone broth just tasted like the organic chicken stock we have in our pantry, noticeably under seasoned. I get that a $ 3 price point is pretty low but it’s like, why would I want to have plain chicken stock with an enormous fat cap? They said they have bread they sell with the soups but why not just charge another dollar and offer it with your soup? Or at least offer a tiny sliver so you’re not just like, drinking chicken stock? I spent $ 15 on lunch and tasted nothing but a whole lot of pretension, honestly. All these restaurants popping up in Boise offering nice atmosphere and mediocre food is getting annoying.

Came here after the Saturday Market, and for brunch. I got the Eggs and potatoes with Bacon, and it was fantastic. A lot of other restaurants would be very flat and bland, but this had a lot of complex and dynamic flavor to it. Very well done. Staff was very friendly and food was served in about 15 minutes.

Extremely fresh and unique recipes. I had the prosciutto salad with peaches and it was literally the best salad I have ever eaten. Fast service but with gourmet presentation. Everything I have had there is fresh, natural, healthy, and delicious. Great staff and service. Must go for lunch!

Wild Root has championed avocado toast and offers a delightful breakfast experience here in Boise. I applaud its clear priority to mindfully source ingredients, which in turn directly supports the health and satisfaction of its customers. The team’s effort, knowledge and creativity does not go unnoticed. Excellent way to start the day.

This is a follow-up to my previous review. I met some friends for lunch at Wild Root this week and I had their special, a niçoise wrap and a side of their composed salad. The wrap was very large(I took half it home for dinner) and was filled with fresh green beans, greens, ahi tuna slices and other vegetables. My friend ordered the special as a salad and it was a beautiful presentation. The composed salad was a little heavy on the dressing for my taste, but the fresh, crunchy broccoli was still delicious. The special wrap and side salad was $ 11. We got there early, at 11:45, since it has limited seating. The café was busy all through the lunch hour with people eating at the café and picking up orders to go.

I have attended Wild Root Café & Market on several occasions. This time I thought I would give it a review. The Food: Where do I begin? Owners Chef Michael Trebbi and Ann-Marie Trebbi have built their menu around vegetables and herbs that are in season as well as meats that are locally sourced and humanely treated. This gives you a good feeling as you are perusing the menu. My two companions could not decide what to eat since everything looked good so they chose to share two options. I on the other hand knew exactly what to order when eyeballing the«specials» board. I chose the Salmon Toast. This beauty arrived on a rectangular white plate starting with a very long piece of bread that had been toasted. The next layer on the toast was bitter dandelion greens — perfectly wilted and seasoned bringing out that earthy, bitter flavor. Then a layer of asparagus followed by a hefty piece of salmon. The salmon was not fishy tasting which means it was very fresh. Then on top of the salmon was a perfectly cooked egg. Topped with some sort of lemon aioli, the combination of flavors were divine! If I could eat this every day… then all would be right in the world. The Ambiance: Wild Root is smack dab in the middle of the 8th street hub in downtown Boise. This small space invites you in with bright green chairs, wooden tables and white paper lanterns hanging overhead. The system is to stand in line, order and pay, find a table and wait until your name is called. I have never been to Wild Root when it was not packed with people ordering lunch. On this occasion, my companions and myself knew several people in the restaurant and enjoyed talking with them and conversing briefly. The bright light shown in from the windows, the crowd was lively and I felt like I could start a drum circle or a yoga-lunch-sit-in and everyone would just hold hands and connect. That’s how good the vibe is here! Service: Ann-Marie with her bright red hair, funky glasses and a smile that would melt anyones heart is very inviting when she takes your order. When she speaks, she has the mid-west/Chicago accent that just screams friendly. What a delight! The meals are constructed speedy-fast in an open kitchen and the staff of cooks are professional and amazing to watch as they beautifully prepare excellent food. Price: Very reasonable for locally sourced food. $ 6-$ 15 for an entrée. This is not a chain. Michael and Ann Marie are small business owners with grand ideas about food. They provide a much needed niche here in the treasure valley. Locally sourced meats and vegetables and a passion for food and community puts this restaurant as my top go-to’s for breakfast or lunch.

Very cute place. The owners were very cordial. Brunch menu had some very nice choices. Had the wild platter with sweet potato hash and eild mushrooms topped with sunny side eggs. It was very flavorful! Got a taste of carrot cake which was yummy. Will be back to try other things. Keep up the great tastes!

I must be a nerd because I couldn’t wait to get on my computer to rate Wild Root Café after just eating there for the first time approximately 20 minutes ago. Wild Root Café is a local breakfast and lunch café that incorporates organic, local, and sustainable ingredients. The type of business I love to support. Their menu options are creative, fresh, and delicious. There’s something for everyone here — a grilled PB&J, meat sandwiches, vegetarian sandwiches, and a variety of salads. I ate the Market Melt sandwich, which features brie, apple butter, and greens on sourdough. YUM. The side salad was colorful and dressed lightly in a delicious vinaigrette. My mom loved her salad — an interesting take on bruschetta. We split the matcha brownie, which was divine. I really like the atmosphere as well. It’s bright and welcoming. They have quite a bit of seating, but it was packed full when I arrived. I’ll definitely be coming back here often. If you like Bleubird and A’tavola, you’ll love Wild Root!

The BEST Beet Salad I’ve ever savored! Spring mix and micro greens are balanced with slices of fresh oranges, golden and red beets, toasted pumpkin seeds seasoned with cinnamon/spice, finished with a lovely light balsamic dressing. I highly recommend adding Tempeh for added protein and texture.

I can’t wait to try this place out again, I had a great first experience! It was a cheerful spot, and I’m planning on adding it to our regular breakfast haunts! Highs: –The Food: the breakfast options were big enough to share, but not so large that you would feel bad eating the whole thing. I ordered off the a la cart menu, and my mother-in-law had an entrée. Everything was so yummy, and I could tell the food was prepared with care and attention to detail. Order the bruleed grapefruit, it’s perfect! –The price was great! Even if it is tempting to go overboard on all of their delicious options. — I was so excited to see they offered Intellegensia coffee. Lows: –The Service: I got the feeling we were expected to order as soon as we made it to the register and felt a tad rushed. We were taking our time with the menu, but there were no customers behind us and I hadn’t seen a breakfast menu with so many great options in a while! Overall, the service was still friendly.

I have been here countless times and love sitting along the front window. Always fresh food and they have terrific specials that are unique and certainly delicious! Once you order and pay, you will be called to pick up your order. No traditional table service here. The coffee is Intelligentsia Coffee from Chicago which is unique to Boise I believe(very good). Great vibe and free wi-fi. Check it out!

Had lunch here today and I highly recommend folks giving this place a shot! They use local ingredients and are reasonably priced for the quality you get. There is a good variety on the menu as well. We ordered the Belly Up LT which is made with pork belly and another sandwich with shredded beef. Both were very good. The pork belly sandwich didn’t need the extra mayonnaise or cheese that came on it as the avacado smear was plenty but overall a good MESSY sandwich. The market side that came with it I could have eaten as a meal by itself. So good! It was a couscous salad with a vinaigrette with roasted sweet potatoes and kale and onions. Very tasty and the right amount of everything. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. The place reminded me a lot like Bleubird down the street actually. Great ingredients with good people making fantastic food.

Went in for lunch with my good buddy to try something new this freezing late December day! He called it a total«scene» place… Nailed it. You get a cool-ish, hipster-ish, swank-ish, modern-ish, modified lunch line type environment(like an Portlandized version of Bleu Bird Café). Freezing air dusts your behind each time the door opens as you wait in line to order your pop-art-newified-version-of-a-classic sandwich, served on a swanky 18-inch rectangular plate… which sometimes is SPECTACULAR… and that’s what I was hoping for! I love Greek flavors so I went for the Greek flatbread sandwich, er burrito? whatever, it’s cool, I’m down. Can’t miss with kalamata olives, cucumber yogurt sauce, grilled chicken, sprouts, greens, tomatoes, cucumbers… nice I’m in! Well you can miss with super dry, cold chicken breast in «choke on me» big chunks even Cholula couldn’t save. It’s hard to keep pre-prepared chicken moist though, I get it. All the flavors were there though and could have been really good. My buddy had the pork belly sandwich that smelled amazing and looked awesome. He asked for flatbread to avoid some carbs and get what he likes and WASDENIED. What? You can’t get what you want? I’ve had like oh 100,000 sandwiches or so and I’m pretty sure I know what I want by now… wait…no I don’t, what was I thinking??? They know what I like better than I do! Duh, of course, silly me. Anyway, he said the flavor was great, but of course had to peel off the bread after a while. Oh, so close… yet so far. If you like cool, unique, nice people type of scene, where you’ll probably see friends, have food their way and bus and clean your own dishes then you’ll love this place. I wanna go back and try the roast beef sammy, looks good! OH yeah, the napkins are by the order pick up area, not by the utensils, sauces and water, etc. hope that saves you a trip!

Checked out Wild Root yesterday for a late lunch. I very much liked it. Had the BLT which featured pork belly instead of the standard bacon. I love me some bacon but the change to pork belly was very good. I had already had more than my daily allotment of coffee for the day(unfortunately), but I did note they use Intellingentsia coffee which in my experience is an excellent roaster. Happy this café opened up. Just the sort of things I hope continue to come to Boise.

The newest addition to the 8th street marketplace, Wild Root, is a bright and lively breakfast, lunch and coffee shop that is totally a hit. The owner, with her bright red hair, fun glasses and daily rotating apron, greets you right as you enter and will explain anything on the menu. I am so impressed with this new shop! Food: With a full breakfast and lunch menu as well as a deli case of to-go items, they cover so many bases. The breakfast muffins(we had the banana, walnut & streusel muffin) are delicious. We also tried a vegan black bean brownie which was thick, rich and so delectable. It looks like a little black cake and is so amazing – and for only $ 2! The sandwich and salad portions are all really big, with the beet salad looking very impressive. Drinks: Espresso & coffee as well as a cooler offering teas, coconut waters and locally made kombucha. Drip coffee is self-serve, which is nice! Atmosphere: It’s so bright and cheery, with lime green walls, moss and wood table décor, and white lanterns hanging from the ceiling. They’ve really made it feel modern and bright in there. I think it would be a great place to pull up a chair and get some work done. Service: Incredible! The owner, staff and bakers are all very friendly. Happy Hour Offerings: n/a — only open until 3pm Healthy Hack: Pretty much anything on the menu can be customized. It’s a healthy menu to begin with! Try the beet salad or daily rotating soups. Tips: Get the vegan black bean brownie! Wow – it may be small but it’s rich and so delectable.

Don’t know if I’ve been this excited about a restaurant/café opening! The location is perfect. I live a few floors above it! Just so happens that their food is also incredible! I’ve been here twice in 2 days and know I’ll be a regular. Friendly folks, fresh food, awesome location with a great view of 8th street!

Wild Root Café is a brand new restaurant downtown that is located where the old Yokozuna was. The interior is bright, wide-open(You can see the kitchen area), clean, and feels welcoming. I ordered the Belly Up LT and fruit salad. The sandwich was a good size and the salad was an appropriate size for a side. All of the ingredients seemed fresh and the crisp pork belly was warm. I appreciated that they used a midsize skewer to keep the sandwich together rather than a small toothpick. I’ll probably go back a little later today and try a dessert. :)
