So now that the golf course is closed/not in use a lot of people use it as a park. There are some great areas to run or just play fetch with your dog. You’ll see families enjoying the new park but for how long I don’t know. Seeing how there’s no maintenance you’ll see a lot of dead grass, down branches and broken tees. I never realized how big this course is and how nice it would be to keep it as a park. Be careful of the wildlife and the bridges as the bridges can be a little shaky.

Play golf here with the guys almost every weekend. That sport is so hard! But we have a blast doin it and gettin hammered in the process. Hit a golf ball at someone’s house today on accident, luckily no one was home

The course was in really bad shape and is way too crowded. The course didn’t have much grass at all. A lot of dead bermuda grass, dirt, and sand. Really sad to see how terrible of a condition the course has fallen into. I know it’s winter and the grass isn’t the greenest this time of year, but that doesn’t explain all the dirt. The area between holes(i.e. the rough) was just dirt and leaves. There is no fairway… just grass that extends a bit beyond the tree line and then there is just dirt. I saw one guy mowing a green while we where playing and the lawn mower was just turning up dirt. No point in having someone mow it when the grass is dead and it’s just dirt that’s left. For those who said it wasn’t crowded. it is. For us it was overbooked. Totally on top of one another. At one point on the 8th hole there was 4 groups waiting to tee up. Those who gave it higher stars like it for one reason: it’s super cheap. Around this area unfortunately that’s what wins customers; but even for the $ 17 we payed it still was a really bad value at that. The course isn’t just icky now, it’s going downhill. Every year it’s worse and worse. The place needs a capital infusion, but I don’t see that happening so it will probably just be dirt in 2 – 3 years.

Golf and pro shop review only. I have had no experience with the tennis resort portion of SLRD. That being said I believe if your looking for an inexpensive course that isnt too crowded, but that also has some challenging holes, this is the course for you! If your looking for a course to show off California’s amazing green grass and lush perfectly manicured greens, Look elseware. Ive been playing this course for a few years now and have heard from some members that«back in the day» this course was one of the best around. Not so much anymore. The course has been around forever and does have some challenging holes but also shows its age. I do enjoy playing this course because overall its 7out of 10. The fee is cheap 47 $ for Sunday tee time. Bring drinks and food because the cart lady rarely comes around.(at least not in the morning– We tee off around 7:15am) No issues with the carts although they do not provide GPS on the course. The last pair of palm trees on the fairways indicate the 150 yard makers. All in all Im a fan of SLRD!

Love this place to grab lunch or dinner. Prices are very reasonable, staff is friendly, they have a variety of menu items to please anyone(salads, sandwiches, everything is yummy) and most importantly, they have the Sunday ticket with a lot of TVs around to watch football. Thumbs up!

Can’t beat $ 24 for a round of golf… However, it’s out in Bonsall which is 10 miles north, and 5 miles east of North Escondido(hence the –1 star). Greens and fairway are highly maintained for the price you pay. Lots of sand traps, trees and water to make the your round much more harder. Also, I believe you can have your wedding here.

OK so this place is OUTTHERE! I mean OUTTHERE! Where the heck is Bonsall, CA? Well, it’s right THERE! I went there for a 3 day golf school, and it was a kick. The rooms are, well, not fancy. The course is, well, not fancy. The golf school was GREAT. Ok, so why the 4 stars here? I’ll tell ya. They have karaōke, and country singing karaōke to boot! Ye ha!
