Established in 1993.

Started in 1993… now a 17 year straight winner of AAA’s Four Diamond Award. Oldest home in Boone North Carolina dating to 1875. Also, where Appalachian State University was founded in 1903. Lovingly restored and updated with today’s modern amenities and conveniences. Close to downtown Boone and Appalachian State University, yet located in a rural setting on 11 wooded acres secluded from the hustle and bustle of Old Town Boone.

My wife and I stayed at the Lovill House from 3÷15÷13−3÷17÷13 and it was awesome! We celebrated my wife’s birthday and enjoyed the company of some other great guests. The breakfasts were great and the Linville room was perfect. Also, make sure to take the time to meet Heidi the dog… she is something special!

Wonderful little place! The owners were great, and they made us such tasty breakfasts, and helped us plan an amazing day trip picnic to Grandfather Mountain. We stayed in the Spring House in the back and got the Romantic Getaway package: one of my favorite stays on our honeymoon!

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend. This was our second visit, coming back for a 10-​year anniversary. We stayed in the Spring House, back behind the main house, and enjoyed the privacy. The grounds around the buildings are amazingly beautiful. The inn keepers were attentive, kind, and a delight. They listened to our special requests, and made sure that we were well taken care of. Every breakfast was lovingly prepared and presented. Our main complaint is that they do not have air conditioning, but fans in the windows, relying on the mountain air for the air conditioning. We’ve become very accustomed to getting away from the pollens and allergens at night, with real air conditioning.

We stayed at Lovill House over the 4th of July in 2006 for three nights. Our room, the Hickory Room was huge. With a big sitting area, fireplace, big big bathroom etc. The grounds are lovely, and the woman (part of the husband wife team owners), Anne works very hard in garden, and her efforts are very obvious. The flower beds, and lawn etc. are just beautiful. The price includes a breakfast, as usual in BandBs, and it’s good also. It’s a little expensive, but it’s worth it if you’re the type of traveller, as am I, who doesn’t subscribe to the «I’m hardly ever in the room» philosophy. The two of them are also very helpful in terms of where to go and what to see, and invite you to put your own things in the refrigerator for late night snacks, etc. All in all, it’s a good place to stay, in particular if you want to stay more than one night and need room to be comfortable. I do wish the television had been bigger. That’s about the only qualifier I would have
