Ordered takeout and waited 90 minutes and when I called, they didn’t apologize or anything and said the food would be at my house soon.

I’ve had both sushi and typical Chinese food from here, and I’d recommend their Chinese food with no hesitation. Their sushi is mediocre at best and brings this review down to three stars. Prices are average, but not worth spending on the sushi.

Came here on a whim and I’m so glad I did … The food was fabulous! We ordered the frank roll, shrimp roll, shrimp dumplings, shrimp fried rice, and General Tso chicken. I was in heaven. The next bite was better than the last. The General Tso was made with all white meat which I preferred. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Can’t wait to come again.

I love the food here, they have hiked their prices several times in the past year or two. Something that used to cost $ 8.75 is now $ 11.25. A 30% hike!?! I got upset when it seemed like every time I went in the price of my usual meal increased. Last time I checked, the inflation rate wasn’t 30%!

Went back to have lunch recently. Food was really good. The people that work there have horrible manners and are not customer service oriented. After giving them another chance, they still managed to raise my blood pressure. Not worth the aggravation.

Nothing special about the atmosphere… looks like a run of the mill outdated Chinese restaurant. The General Tso’s chicken is always delicious. It is only white meat chicken breast coated in the sticky sugary, orangy, soy sauce and no yucky filler. Fans of General Tso’s will love it. The sushi is decent for an area which certainly lacks good quality sushi. The sushi deluxe is fair and the triple spicy roll dinner is good but way too much spicy mayo gooped all over the top. The soups are all standard Chinese fare.

It’s good freaking Chinese food ! There are two well known spots in Bordentown. However, Jade Island takes the cake. I love their general chicken, it’s just !!! Oh and not to mention, they have sushi that is also pretty good. Yes, Chinese food and sushi delivery is always a good combo. Check check check it out :)

I have ordered since owners took over more than a decade ago and it has always been good. I will never order again after my last experience. I order hot and sour wonton soup mixed with my meal everytime I order. Well tonight they said we don’t do that and never have and very rude about it. I pay 5 dollars extra for it so it’s not like I’m asking for free food. The woman was arguing repeatly with me about it so I cancelled my order. They just lost a loyal customer of 10 plus years over poor customer service.

I have heard good things about this place for many years. But I live much closer to other very good places, so I just continued to frequent them when the craving took hold. An appointment in the vicinity today had me looking at this restaurant on Unilocal for more info. Lo and behold I see that 2 friends(Gerald and Jennifer) had very positive things to say about it. Good enough for me! But I will say that I took a conservative approach and ordered the one item they both raved about, the crispy orange beef. I’m so happy I did too, it was great. The beef was tender, slightly crispy and contained red and green peppers, pineapple, broccoli and some dried orange rind. It came with a very good example of pork fried rice too. It is listed as spicy but is not overly so, I added pepper oil to it. When I try a new Chinese place I like to sample staples, so I also ordered fried dumplings and hot and sour soup. The dumplings are very very good, thin dough and the pork filling was flavorful and not too firm. The soup was ok, nothing wrong with it really, but not my favorite version of this savory liquid. The interior is a little dated, as I said it has been here for years, but evocative of old school shops. It also features a bar, which is a bit unique for this area, and a sushi bar that seemed an afterthought. The blackboard special listed rack of lamb for like $ 22, but said an additional and equal serving would be half price, wow. I need to come here more, I can’t imagine that they only have 1 great menu item. But that beef… anyway…4.25 Pu Pu platter(yeah, they have them) Unilocal

Overall i’d give this place a 4 if rated against other Chinese places outside Bordentown. But within Bordentown, this place is a 5! The other 2 places in town are dismal compared to Jade Island. I also think it’s really cool that they serve alcohol when dining in. How many Chinese places do that?

Their General Tso’s sauce has become more watery and doesn’t stick to the chicken. It wasn’t like that couple years ago but now it is. I hope they fix that.

Food was awesome here. We enjoyed the pupu platter, mango chicken and the mixed vegetables. All were delightful!

I love this place, the food is so great and I don’t question what i’m eating. Everything is better quality so while its priced a little higher it’s way worth it, the only complaint I have is the delivery is always so long(which they tell you like 45 minutes heads up) but the food is always hot so it’s not a problem really if you don’t order when you’re starving

Small group met here today for an early Christmas lunch — we ordered: Salmon Roll Chicken Tempura Roll House Fried Rice Mongolian Beef Four Seasons The food here is super tasty and not as greasy as some places. Very tender, seasoned well. Portions are okay for the price, little on the expensive side but they are generous with the amount of meat in the dishes. The Mongolian beef(with scallions and onion) was by far the best. The beef was melt in your mouth tender, not too fatty, and had great flavor. Service was good, atmosphere laid back. The sliced pineapple at the end was a nice touch. Would definitely go back next time I pass through Bordentown.

I am from Chicago and we claim to have the best Chinese food BUT this place… hands down delicious, both the sushi and the Chinese food. My boyfriend and I are in this area once a month and you can bet we’ll be back here for the deliciousness called food. The décor and service were good as well.

It took a while for me to find this place; sitting between Routes 206 and 130, and on a dead end(seemingly the wrong way) street, but I am glad I did. While Jade Island uses it location in its name(although, «Jade Island Dead End Chinese Restaurant,» might be more apt), the space is attractive and fairly large with table clothes and heavy flatware gracing each. The menu looks like most of the other Sino/American hybrid joints around, with one important distinction — This place delivers on quality dishes. I went with Spicy Orange Beef Lunch Special, which came with the usual suspect sides of Wonton Soup and Pork Fried Rice. The soup was just okay, but the Chicken was fresher than most and did not suffer from freezer burn. The Orange Sauce was thick without being gloopy, and carried the heat to the tongue very well. The Fried Rice was very chunky with pork, peas, carrots and egg, and had a taste that suggested it had not been made the day before. Everything was good. As I continue to search my new environs for the best(for me only) Chinese and other ethnic and stylistic varieties of grub, my list continue to add to the top while dropping the lesser entries off the bottom. When it comes the Chinese/American shops in the Hamilton/Trenton/Bordentown vicinity, Jade Island is currently at the head of the class.

Having moved to the area not too long ago, and trying 3 other chinese food places and not being too satisfied — my boyfriend and I ended up here. What delicious chinese food! So happy to finally find a place that will become out go to place, for take out and sit down. My boyfriend and I have been back 3 times now and each time has been consistent. My boyfriend enjoyed their sushi and said the tuna tasted just fine. Admittedly I am a little afraid to try the sushi here, I’m a bit picky about where I eat sushi — but going by the other Unilocal reviews it seems the sushi is A-Okay so maybe next time. Anyway, the sit down area is nice, comfortable, and if you dine in you get complimentary fried noodles with duck sauce and hot mustard — love that hot mustard! Hot and sour soup, wonton, egg drop — all delicious and pipping hot! Pan fried pork dumplings, juicy, and thin delicate skins — not that doughy thick mess you get from typical take outs. My fav. dish so far has been the crispy orange beef. To die for! So deliciously crispy with the aroma of orange and hint of spice — terrific combo and I found it hard to order anything else. I highly recommend this place — seems to be super popular for take out as there is a revolving door of pick up orders. Service is okay — efficient — and the ladies behind the cashier are so friendly. I can’t wait to go back!
