Borrego Springs Resort & Spa

For the limited options available, Borrego Springs Resort is okay. The rooms are pretty dated, but the bed felt clean and was super comfy. They also take pets which is nice if you’re traveling with yours. The onsite restaurant is just okay. Overall, it seems a little pricey for what it is.

Nothing special. Not horrible, not memorable. I was concerned about the lack of security doors. Anyone can drive onto the property and be standing outside your door at 3am. A lady, I’m assuming an owner, lingered around my car making sure I was leaving in the morning. Maybe it was the beard and Motörhead t-​shirt, but kiss my ass lady, my car costs more than yours.

We stayed at Borrego Springs during the Christmas Holidays and I must say we were disappointed.
Our room did have a view of the mountains if you looked over the houses.
We went out on Saturday to see the bronze sculptures and hike to Canyon Palm we were gone from 8am until after 5pm when we returned our room had not been cleaned – the bed not even made up.
I called the front desk and was told the cleaning staff had gone home but they would bring me clean towels if I need them.
We also made reservations to eat at The Arches Christmas night, we checked our reservations upon arrival and was told they had none for us, they were able to make a reservation at that time. My husband wanted the Prime Rib which was one of the offered meals for the night only to be told they were out, they were also out of the desert.
The onsite fitness room equipment was worn and in poor shape. Weather permitting… walk the golf course.
This was definitely a disappointment for us.

I have to be honest I didn’t like this place. My room had a bit of a thick musty smell (not unbearable but noticeable) and I found it odd the front pillow on my bed was ripped; it was exposing the pillow where the layers of tears were. It looked like a mountain lion swatted it.
The sheets did look clean though and I appreciated that, as well as a fridge in the room and nice sized balcony.
I paid close to $ 175 for this room and it was the first time in a while that I felt ripped off. I guess I’m not the type to enjoy a place like this — just way too much of a 1980s/​1990s budget motel feel to me. If that doesn’t bother you then you’ll be okay.

The facility is well maintained. The price was reasonable.
Stuffs are kind. Swimming pool was clean.
A roadrunner was roaming around the site.
It was perfect for the weekend to explore the desert and observe the lunar eclipse.
The restaurant closes at 8pm and doesn’t open on Monday, but it did not matter to me as I understand September is off-​season for this resort.

I have been coming to this resort for the last 4 years and have always enjoyed the quiet and solitude. I normally come and stay for two weeks at a time while working in the desert with the Canadian military. I needed to get away from home for a few days and forgot that it was a holiday weekend. No problem I just figured I’d get out here lay around and enjoy The pool area, crowds or not. Unfortunately that was not to be, there was a large group out for a holiday weekend with family and approximately 30 kids. This made it very noisy and uninhabitable for me. I have never seen so many kids at this resort. So I booked an extra day and at times I was the only one at the pool which was very nice since I despise crowds. The rooms are very nice and the only issue that I have is that there’s only one premium channel which is HBO on the television. You can pay for movies on demand but that’s not what I want to do when I’m on vacation. The grounds around the hotel are very well-​maintained and the staff is extremely helpful. I definitely recommend this resort but if you want quiet solitude come and stay during the week.

Last weekend, we went out in a group of three couples to take advantage of a $ 50 per person night stay including a round of golf. We had a fantastic time!
The rooms were clean and well-​appointed. No more to say there as we were here to golf.
The golf course is interesting. Being there in the heat of summer, over 100 degrees, it was of course quiet. In fact it was like we had our own golf course. There are a few driving challenges on the course, but it’s pretty easy. Ideal vacation golf. The greens were punched and sanded, so I can’t say much about them, though surprisingly we all scored well.
After golf, it was easy to relax by the pool with a cocktail. Then, to dinner in the clubhouse. We had two breakfasts and two dinners there and really enjoyed them. The staff were incredibly friendly. The locals got us involved with karaōke. I hate karaōke, but after a few drinks we were into it.

Very nice! I saw on the website that pets were allowed but wasn’t sure to what extent so I left my dog a home but sure enough when we got there dogs were just chilling on the balconies! Some residents even brought their own bbq’s and made their own burgers and hot dogs! Another thing that I was debating on was wether or not to bring bikes but this place would be perfect for them! The lot is pretty big and although there aren’t any designated paths, quiet roads and most restaurants are within biking distance. Since it was memorial day weekend, the weather was super nice and perfect for the pool! Borrego Springs Resort is great for families too!

The room was great, very clean. We had dinner at the Arches and it was fabulous. Francisco was incredibly attentive and a hard worker. However, for breakfast the Hostess walked up and started to greet us, but she got a cell phone call and turned and walked off. Our server came and seated us. We ordered and it was taking forever. She stopped by and said the cook had to take care of room service before us, so we continued to wait 35 minutes to get our order. The food was good, but the kitchen was extremely slow. On check out, they tried to charge me a higher rate than when I checked in. I called her attention to it and she did correct it but never said she was sorry or whatever. I really liked the place, but service needs to improve.

I called to inquire about doing something special for some family members that are staying at the resort. Raelynn was AMAZING and set up something wonderful within my budget. Besides organizing everything, her personality was absolutely wonderful. I love speaking with helpful and cheerful individuals. Thank you!!!

Spacious suite. Swimming pool. Gym. Tennis courts. Tasty breakfast burritos and sandwiches at the snack shop if you don’t want to sit down for breakfast.

Rooms were clean, quiet, and equipped with a small fridge & microwave. Price was excellent for level of resort. Enjoyed a morning at their on-​site spa, services were all good with friendly staff. It was a great spot for getting out of town for a relaxing weekend. Only dings were weak wifi signal, and soft unsupportive beds.
Oh yeah, the mr. said the driving range was very nice as well.

Really nice getaway location for stay and play, off roading, hiking, biking etc. The hotel was clean, our room had a little funky smell, but was a great size and comfortable. I can see how some would complain that it is outdated, but what’s the big deal? We had a fridge, microwave, wet bar sink, huge bathroom, pull out bed and king bed, not to mention the large balcony. I did sit out there, not realizing the chairs were filthy; at least I was wearing the robe they provide you! Would be nice if the maids wiped those down if the room is expecting guests.
Warm, large pool, but we were expecting the one on the website. Don’t be fooled! The fancier resort pool is part of the spa. Haha Bring a cooler of beer or your own mixed drinks, no pool bar.
The restaurant was a little disappointing. They claim to be upscale dinning, but don’t be afraid to wear jeans and a t shirt! The room is totally out if the 70s but still cute. Has a wonderful view of the golf course if you happen to be there during daylight. Our waitress was possibly new? After she took our order we heard the waiter next to us blurt out some awesome specials. We wish we were told them??? My husbands chicken was cold. Oops! He decided to just send it back and not reheat the meal. But she still took 20 minutes to either bring out a new one or the reheated plate. We didn’t bother finding out, and said no thank you. My fish and chips were very good, the fish was fresher then anticipated! Good salad. Nice big glass of wine!
Overall, we would return here! It was very peaceful!

A great place to stay in Borrego. Clean, friendly, reasonable, and quiet.
The Arches restaurant has a nice ambiance, decent service, and only slightly overpriced. Unlike a comment from another review, we found the food to be if anything over-​seasoned. The wasabi mashed potatoes tasted like pure horseradish.
I stopped by the golf course to hit a bucket of balls. The practice area is extensive– nice putting green and an open fairway set up as a driving range, with real grass instead of the AstroTurf mats. If you go late afternoon you’ll have the setting sun to your back (assuming you golf right handed) and the scenery is awe-​inspiring. The golf pro was very cool, and lent me a few clubs for free.
Make sure you get out at night to look at stars!

The masseur gave a really week massage even after I asked for more pressure multiple times. The pool was available for use to massage clients and it was a nice area layout but the pool was really dirty.
I went to the restaurant that evening for dinner and the restaurant was practically empty. The fish did not taste fresh at all and was ridiculously over seasoned. The server was really awkward and kept forgetting things I asked for… really high maintenance requests like water and flatware!

Great destination for a weekend motorcycle ride! We also took in Dennis Mammana’s astronomy dinner and it was one of the most unexpected highlights of the trip! Although our swimsuits ended up making a one way trip to the desert (we left them on the porch!), the resort is really beautiful and the maid service was outstanding: our room was spotless and cool when we arrived.

Hotel is situated about 3 miles down the road from the Main Street (Christmas circle). We came in June and it was 108 degrees, but the hotel had working a.c. and there was a pool, not very big though. The room was comfy, tv worked, bathroom was adequate, had a mini fridge, sink, and coffee maker. There’s a lovely golf course on site. Also a spa, but didn’t get to try. The Arches restaurant was pleasant, not great, but pretty good for being in the middle of nowhere. Would definitely stay here again. No free breakfast, bummer.

Stayed here for a business trip. Rented a room with a king sized bed. I was very satisfied with the room. There was a great bathroom, robes, ironing board, closet, hair dryer, mini fridge, coffee maker, decent sized TV, a couch, coffee table, and a patio with a small table. The bed was AMAZING! It was so comfy and I got the best sleep in a hotel that I have ever had. There is a golf course, a pool, hot tub, and a spa. It was worth the money spent (about $ 130 for my room). Great getaway for the desert!!!

So many massage therapists love to bastardize certain therapies. I had one of the most authentic Swedish massages in forever. I did not want deep tissue, or get an elbow dug into my shoulder blades or gluteus, or worse, a thumb pressing down on a muscle for over a minute with hardly any pressure. Ho hum.
The older I get, the more trouble I have relaxing and turning off my brain. This massage was by the book and just what I wanted/​needed! I was even able to drift off a bit. One star is removed for the ultra basic Relaxation room.
A great diversion for me while my pals were off golfing!

Holy crap it was hot out here (we stayed in the middle of June), but the hotel was lovely. It was sort of strange seeing this deserted desert town and then making our way up the manicured drive to the lobby of the hotel. As we drove into and through town, I was 100% convinced that hill people were going to murder us in Borrego Springs that night. The sign should have said «Entering a horror movie».
Anyway, we checked in easily and quickly and spent all of five minutes in our room when we heard from the room above us what sounded like a small herd of obese water buffalo break-​dancing. I can’t handle that shit. I called the front desk and asked for an upstairs room and within another five minutes we were upstairs in a stomp-​free zone.
We spent the rest of the day out exploring the area, but when we came back it was with vodka and beer in hand and we relaxed in our air conditioned room and on our nice balcony. It was sort of strange that there are occupied single family homes right across the street from the hotel, but one of the homes had a waterfall feature so we got to listen to that while hanging out on our patio.
The fridge in our room made weird sounds so my husband ended up unplugging it in the middle of the night, but the little wet bar in the room is convenient for the boozin’.
The pool is open 24 hours so we headed down around 11 p.m. There was another small group down there for awhile, but the pool is huge and they stayed on one side and we stayed on the other. The pool and hot tub are both very nice. My only complaint? There are an insane number of crickets running around. I’m pretty sure I stepped on entire cricket families just walking from the lounge chairs to the pool.
Some tips:
*Everything closes up pretty early in town, so get dinner/​supplies early.
*Cell phone reception is spotty. Restart your phone if you’re coming in from the Anza-​Borrego desert and having a hard time getting reception in the hotel.
*Eat dinner at Carlee’s Bar and Grill on Christmas Circle. I had the most amazing hamburger from that little place.
*The little market in town doesn’t sell liquor, only beer and wine.
*Check what happy hour specials the hotel’s restaurant is featuring. We had lunch there the next day and I got a quesadilla and margarita for a few dollars.
*If you’re looking to buy a house, I’m pretty sure you can buy one here for like $ 7.
