A bunch of us crazy gals descend on Borrego every February for a weekend golf tournament and we typically commandeer Carlee’s for dinner one night. To say the staff is gracious is an understatement. Can you imagine 25 – 30 people all ordering off their enormous menu with no limitations on a busy Saturday night? We do it and we’re silly and loud in the process. And the servers are patient and good at what they do, no attitudes here! The restaurant is pretty large with a u-shaped bar surrounded by booths and tables. Small area for a band in a corner. The fare isn’t gourmet so stick with safe choices. I typically order a hamburger — this year the Baja burger, and dang, the chipotle sauce was hot! It was prepared just as ordered(medium/pink). The entertainment is our group; however, there is live music too and it’s always fabulous and lots of fun cutting a rug with the locals.

Wow ! Fantastic Menu choices. We ate there twice in 3 days. Food was always Fresh, Hot and tasty. Tony and Chaitan waited on us different times and they were great. Just watching the way these employees all work together was Fantastic. Quite the Team. Very Friendly. I am very picky about my Reuben sandwiches and there’s Was Superb :-)

We were in Borrego Springs for the weekend, and if you haven’t been, it’s a tiny desert town with not many places to eat. but Carlee’s is right on the main strip and has great food — try the turkey reuben or ABLT.

Awesome place ribs are great big portions and service is amazing. Drinks are what it’s all about. A double is really a double. Will be back several times in our month visit. Love it. Don’t miss it. It’s a throw back of how bars and casual dining used to be.

Exactly what you would expect in a small town and we loved it! Food is delicious and you get a more than generous portion for your money. Staff is friendly and down to earth. We’re only in the area visiting for the day but I would certainly return if if we were in the area again.

If you find yourself in Borrego Springs and you are looking for some watermelon schnapps and killer homemade potato chips, this is the place. The atmosphere is nothing to speak of but the turkey burger and the homemade fries are yummy. Weirdly, the only beer hey have on tap is Stella. Even Bud Light is from a bottle. Husband ordered the Black and Bleu burger and found it yummy. I really enjoyed my turkey burger add guacamole and bacon no bun. It wasn’t gamey at all and was perfectly seasoned. Warning: They have no kids menu but they do have chicken strips and quesadillas. Did I already mention their rainbow Schnapps collection? I am fascinated! I took away some stars for the salty service.

Yep. Love this place. We both had the prime rib dinner on Friday night. Fantastic! Huge slice, perfectly cooked, baked potato, fresh yummy string beans, salad(no bagged lettuce here). It was $ 25 each but well worth it. Gazpacho.: get it!!! The waitress suggested we have a cup and we ended up ordering another serving to go. Excellent. Such a wonderful surprise to find great food in this small desert community. Thank you

I wish I could remember the bartenders name, but he was super nice and friendly. Made jokes and really good drinks. We came on a Thursday night, there was no wait and service was fast and attentive. My husband ordered a steak and I ordered fajitas. He thought the steak was amazing. My fajitas were good… they had a strange sauce on them, like a cross between teriyaki and BBQ sauce if that makes sense. It wasn’t bad… just different. On another note, the salads were huge and they had good music playing. I would definitely return… if I’m ever in the area again. We also ordered a chocolate cake to go for dessert. Amazing!

I was the designated driver so I drove all over today.. Henshaw, Ironwoods, The Iron Door and then I raved about the Carlees I knew 10 years ago and I drove us there, waste of gas. Beer was cold, food was great, bartender was just like a robot, did only what she had to, no eye contact really, zero humor or acknowledgement and by the time we were done she needed our tab paid because she was going off shift. I had to ask the new shift bartender her name after he took our payment, really strange vibe in there Not my favorite place anymore and we will not be back. I don’t know what happened to Carlees but you really should find someone who’s happy about their job or atleast makes people feel welcome. The bar was very clean, bathrooms were very clean and food was on point but we got outa there asap

More like a 3 ½ Star Place. A good sized restaurant bar with lots of seating. The mixed drinks are a little weak but ok for this small town. The service for the tables is pretty good but the service sitting at the bar for food needs a lot of needed help. The food isn’t to bad. Not the best but certainly not the worst I’ve had. It’s ok for the few choices you have in Borrego Springs. Some entertainment here some nights. Give it a try if your here and hungry.

Came here after a long hot day of work. Highly recommended by the locals. I can see why. I had the jalapeño burger and onion rings. The burger was medium well, exactly how I like my burger meat. The onion rings were crisp and brown and crunchy. The place was pretty full. The lighting was a bit dark. The service was really fast and friendly. Will come back again and try other stuff on the menu.

The most awesome place to eat in this most awesome desert town. All the way to Borrego Springs, we couldn’t stop talking about the famous BBQ ribs(which we had on our last road trip 4 yrs ago). And, well, Carlee’s lived up to our great expectations. Apart from the BBQ ribs(did I mention how yummy they are?), you just can’t order something that’s not class A. We tried the steaks, the chicken wings, the onion rings, the salads, the margaritas … it’s all so good. Nothing fancy, for sure — simply real good American food. And the atmosphere lives up to the menu! Highly recommended(same goes for them ribs!).

We’ve been going to Borrego Springs for 20 years(an hour and a half drive from our home) and for whatever reason, never ate in Carlee’s. This past weekend we were there for 3 days, and decided it was time to give the place a try. We’ve eaten in most of the restaurants in Borrego — there aren’t many so that’s easy to do — ranging from the ubiquitous taco shops to those at La Casa del Zorro. We were prepared for anything! Got to Carlee’s on Friday night and it was packed. Didn’t realize they had live music on weekends, didn’t realize a lot of people make reservations, and didn’t realize what a «locals» hangout it is. No problem though, we were quickly greeted by a young man who pointed out a large booth and invited us to sit down. Within a couple minutes we had menus, and ordered shortly thereafter. The place was crowded, noisy, a little dark, but we weren’t expecting the Four Seasons. A few minutes later one of the guys from the band came over to talk with us, and we ended up having a great conversation with him. He even invited my husband to get up on «stage» and play with the band when he found out my husband plays guitar and is in a band. Our food arrived pretty quickly and looked pretty good. It tasted even better. Hubby and I both ordered burgers and they were amazing. Best burger I’ve had in years, and the fries were equally good. My husband’s Lemon Drop was outstanding — no scrimping on the alcohol in that drink, that was for sure! I’d have to say our first visit to Carlee’s was fantastic. A fun spot, friendly, outgoing staff, great food, and a lively atmosphere. We were so impressed that we decided to go back the next night as well. Saturday night: More crowded than the night before, but the young man who greeted us at the door gave us a few options. We decided to sit at the bar, and were told we could be moved to a table once one became available. We decided to stay at the bar where we ended up talking to the bartender as well as other guests. We loved it. Our waiter from the night before remembered us and stopped by to welcome us back… very nice. The food was just as good as the night before, as were the drinks. We had another great meal, another great evening. Thanks Carlee’s, we’ll be back!!!

Came here after a long ride with my buddies and we loved the food. The Carlee’s burger was amazing. Everything was good. O Note: The chilli cheese fries is not an appetizer. It’s good for the whole family.

First of all the staff has awesome customer service. Very impressed. The bartender was friendly, quick and poured a stiff drink. Our waiter was beyond helpful. I took his suggestion on the burger. That was an awesome burger, cooked perfectly. The place is old school décor. See the pictures posted by others. There is something for everyone on this menu, 114 selections from a cob salad, to fried scallops, to pizza to steak, to ribs to fried chicken. You’ll find something but I’ll recommend the burger.
