Air Canada

Air Canada is just plain awful. We flew during the holiday season. Who delays their flight for 3 hours without any warning? At least tell us or update your website so we don’t show up to the airport and end up waiting for 6 hours. My flight to Toronto was originally after ten so I showed up to the airport early at 8. Without any warning, we find out that our flight is now delayed till 12:30, with no explanation given. Then we check in, and go sit by the gate. Right before 12, we find out the flight has been delayed another hour. No employees at the gates, no info, just excessive delays for no reason. When we asked the lady at the counter why the website or the screen at the airport wasn’t updated, she said «United airlines controls the screen so they didn’t update it».

Flew to calgary recently on air canada. My wife and i each took a regulation sized carry on bag. Bags we have used several times without a problem. We checked one larger bag for $ 35.all good. After we checked in at the ticket counter in calgary for our return flight the clerk at the last second tells us we have to check our carry ons. I argued to no avail. Had to pay $ 77 for the two carry ons to be checked. Total ripoff. And i saw several oversized bags get carried on with no questions asked. Will never use air canada again. L.

I fly 100,000 miles per year and after my experience with Air Canada in boston I will do my best not to have to fly them again. I submitted a customer service complaint for several problems beyond a delay in February and they just followed up with a mostly generic response. Their staff at Boston did not know what to do or how to reroute us so we wouldn’t miss our flight so we had to do all the changing while several others pointed fingers And said it wasn’t their job all while sitting behind in air canada employee gear. We had to drive to NYC to catch a flight and rebook ourselves. They upgraded my colleague to business class but not me. My seat was broken and the return flight left 3 hours late. Don’t expect air canada to do their job or to even fix it when they make an error. Oh and if you try to call for flight help expect to be waiting an hour-​I finally gave up.

Americans, Air Canada has their hands in your pocket (revenue enhancement) and they don’t even warn you. I run a charity and was in Toronto to expand the charity to benefit Canadian troops. Air Canada flew me from Boston to Toronto with my carry on bag which fit in to the overhead compartment easily, but on the way back to Boston Air Canada would not allow my bag on the plane and charged me $ 30 to check it. There was no disclaimer or warning. I was told by Air Canada that this is a new policy and by November all bags will have to fit into a small metal frame at Air Canada gates or they will take your bag and charge $ 30 to check it. I took out everything in the top pockets and my bag still wouldn’t fit into the metal rack. just because the carry on bag itself was was too big to fly from Toronto to Boston, but OK to fly from Boston to Toronto. As I stood pleading my case to the Guard at the gate he allowed many other bags passed him that were bigger than mine, none of which would have fit into the metal rack. My wife and I have the exact same bag but she was allowed through Right now they are randomly choosing people to steal $ 30 from but by Nov. they will reach into your pocket for $ 30 because all bags will be checked. When I explained my situation to every management person from Air Canada and told them I wouldn’t fly on Air Canada again they said «Oh well, your choice» It is your choice Don’t let them steal from you, Fly United.

The check in counter ladies we encountered today at the check in desk were righteous bitches; unbelievably unsympathetic cows who refused to let us drop off our luggage 5 min after the deadline (we had gone to the United check in initially so the walk over made us late).
Thankfully the lady at the boarding gate was reasonable.

Just went on an hour long flight from Ottawa to Boston. Went to baggage to claim my bag to find that my bag had been completely destroyed. The inner plastic shelling has been cracked beyond repair. The whole corner is smushed in and it’s crack up like an egg shell. I will be filing a formal complaint once they get their website back up. Oh yea thats right their website is down today because they pilots when on a «sick in» where they all called out and the result was 60 canceled flights. So if you want terrible service, an unreliable website and your items destroyed book your flight with Air Canada!

I gave them the gift of two stars last time… Not now
I had to go to Toronto last minute. A company is defined by how they treat customers in need… You guessed it. They charged 1,031 dollars ONE WAY.
No problem. Paid it with company points.
So we are in the plane, and I know they will lie to me about being on time… Sure enough, we wait on the tarmac for 45 minutes
The excuse: Toronto is having construction on their runways. This just happened?
Another memorable experience…

Though I will keep this at four stars for the friendly employees that work at this division of Air Canada, I will NEVER fly their airline again and here’s why:

When compared to the American counterparts, I have to give Air Canada 4 stars. The food is reasonable. They’ve re-​done the interior of the planes and updated even short-​haul flights with an entertainment system (even while US airlines are removing them). What that means is on a flight from Boston to Toronto, you end up wishing the flight were a little longer because you want to see the end of your movie.
I also have prefer the way that Air Canada speaks to the passengers. I find it annoying how the bulk of the messages United, USAir, and ATA tell passengers is what they can’t do for «Safety» reasons.
One thing that bugs me about all the airlines is that cell phones and computers are such a big deal. I can’t believe that typing on my Mac is a danger to the plane.

After almost having a heart attack because our American Eagle flight got cancelled, by some MIRACLE we were able to get moved to the 4:10 Air Canada flight to Boston. There were 8 baggage agents (compared to American’s ONE) and they were actually NICE!
So, we merrily skip to our gate, about a half hour goes by, and I look up to see that our 4:10 flight is no longer there and has been replaced with a Philadelphia flight. I look up at the departure screen and see that damn curse word, CANCELLED (I’ve learned that Cancel in French is Annuie). I grab all our stuff and RUN to the customer service desk, where we are told we have to go ALL THE WAY BACK to the ticket counter and get the next flight. :cry:
Fortunately, we get the next flight (6:00) out to Boston, and make our way BACK through customs, BACK through security, everything. Our flight gets delayed (naturally) to 7:10 and I’m PRAYING to every god ever in existence to let me go home tonight. We finally board the plane, and merrily make our way back to Boston. Holy crap.
The flight attendants were all really nice. The plane actually gives you LEG ROOM. You also get a drink and a snack to munch on, and there is a TV too! I hate flying, so anything to distract me is great by me. They had movies, TV, music, even games! I was in heaven!
Next time I go to Canada, I am DEFINITELY using Air Canada fo sho!
