«Two weeks ago my dentist told me that I needed a root canal. I found Micro Surgical Endodontics and Dr. Allen Ali Nasseh on Unilocal and I am so glad I did. From the beginning his front desk staff were patient and answered my many questions over several anxious phone calls. If there was an award for „nicest person on the planet“ Jill would win it hands down! She is kind and knowledgeable and Rita is a doll. Dr Nasseh was great. He told me what to expect, dealt with my anxiety, and made sure I had pain medications. He and his assistant were thoughtful and professional. He was extremely targeted in his use of Novocain so that I felt no pain but was not numb for days! He is also honest. Halfway through the procedure he stopped because he found micro fractures in the tooth. He said a root canal would not be effective and that I should have the tooth extracted instead. His office recommended an oral surgeon that I used and liked a lot. God forbid I need another root canal, but if I do I am definitely going back to Dr Nasseh! »

I had an excellent experience, which is amazing since I am TERRIFIED of the dentist… however, when there are serious issues such as needing a root canal or an apicoectomy it cannot be ignored. I see Dr. Mario Abdennour and he was so patient with me when my nerves starting getting the best of me. I trust him 100%!Dr. Abdennour performed one root canal (through an existing crown) and two apicoectomies. I am truly thankful that he has been able to save my teeth and helped me get through the process. I am truly greatful and would never go anywhere else. Once I find a good dentist… I stick and stay! I would definitely recommend Dr. Mario Abdennour to anyone who needs dental treatment.

I recently had a root canal with Dr. Mario E. Abdennour at this office and could not have been more pleased! My tooth had been giving me a lot of pain and my general dentist (Dr. Mark C. Beale) referred me to him. WHAT A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE! No pain and lots of patience with me (I was very nervous). He changed my whole outlook on what having a root canal is like. I am no longer afraid to have one! I HIGHLY recommend this dentist. He was wonderful.

It seems so strange to rate 5 stars for a root canal but as far as root canals go, they won’t get any better than this. Dr. Carew was wonderful. Genuinely concerned for my comfort and understanding of the procedure. Quick, efficient, painless. What more can you ask for? Oh wait, how about a TV mounted on the ceiling so you can watch while laying down? Or a tube of chapstick along with the usual dentist goodies you receive after a cleaning? Yup, they’ve got that covered too.

No one ever brags about a amazing root canal, but I’m going to because it was that amazing. I decided to give this office a shot due to the high reviews on Unilocal,and they really are true.
I was treated by Dr. Carew and he was so gentle and kind. His placed my nervous self at ease and was very concerned about my comfort left at all times through out the procedure.
I had a complex root canal which required 2 visits and I am so glad I trusted him with this. When you need a root canal, it’s not the time to be cheap or look for a bargain; you want the best Dr. money can buy. You get what you pay for after all.
The only down fall is he only does root canals, if he could do my crown, that would be the cherry on top of it all.
Book him and don’t look back! You will be glad you did.

I HAVE JUST HAD AN AMAZING ROOT CANAL, not many people can say that. I arrived at Dr. Nasseh for a consultation on a tooth that was throbbing with pain. After a thorough exam and X-​rays, Dr. Nasseh gave me a very clear explanation of the problem and the solution. He was sensitive to my discomfort of all things dental. So much so, that when he was unable to find an opening to perform the root canal before my next travels, and understood my hesitation of doing the procedure with someone else, Dr. Nasseh gave up his lunch hour there and then. Historically, I am a very nervous patient who typically takes a sedative well before any dental procedure. The fact that I felt comfortable enough to have a root canal done unexpectedly should be evidence enough of the comfort and confidence I felt in Dr. Nasseh’s care. The procedure itself was painless as promised and very quick. Dr. Nasseh and his associate communicated throughout the entire procedure asking me how I was doing and giving me updates on timing. For a nervous patient this is key. Professionalism and courtesy continued after too, with a kind and capable receptionist who clearly explained my follow up and provided me with a referral for the second part of the treatment I would need to do with another specialist. She also handed me a card with Dr. Nasseh’s cell phone and made sure I took a Tylenol on my way out the door. I typically would send flowers from Winstons to say thank you for such caring service, but I think this kind of care requires a review. This was all in all my best dental experience ever and that is worthy of sharing.

Superb clinician, a true scholar, teacher and educator. Highly recommend him for root canal treatment. He is efficient and does the job quick and perfectly. The way you are treated at the office indicates how professional you are. As a dentist myself, i only trust Dr Allen with my root canals when i need them, even if that requires me to fly to Boston to get them done. Root canals are not easy to do and if you care about your teeth as much as i do, then he should be your go-​to endodontist.

He is the most honest you can get. As other people here have mentioned, I went to him for a consultation after the worst experience at Boston University Dental School (which included a hydrogen peroxide incident!). In less than 5 min he understood the whole situation and told me that retreating my root canals was probably going to be unsuccessful, so he could try but I could end up paying for nothing. I could not recommend him more. Money well spent!

Nasseh is amazing. He is a true visionary in his field.
He is everything everyone says about him, knowable, fast, helpful, painless etc., and if you can believe it, he makes having a route canal a pleasant experience. Once you go to him you will not go to another endo.
His prices are the going rate maybe even a tad low for back bay.
My only issue is with his assistant Chaurda. The most unprofessional rude person I have met. I just tune her out because Dr. Nasseh is the best. But since I have recommend many people to this practice its maddening this witch has said the most inapproitate things to 3 clients I sent them. Though not to all of the people I have sent there. One did not even go back because of her. You just have to tune her out. She is the only reason I did not give this practice 5 stars.
Jill on the other hand is the exact opposite of Chaurda. She is extremely helpful and friendly… a real gem!
If you go to another endodotist when you have the opportunity to go tho Dr. Nasseh, you are making a huge mistake.
Update: contacted Dr. Nasseh via email he did get back to me but said he was surprised I contacted him after the Unilocal review. «it was mean spirited» also he has dropped me as a patient. I said I would take it down but then decided if we don’t have the truth what do we have.
It’s easy if you give someone 5 stars you will go back to them suggest them to ur friends & family etc and 1 stars so easy to you won’t go back or suggest them to anyone. But the in between. I thought 4 stars was great and I was completely honest about my experience with them but now I pay the price. So what should we do just not write because we don’t want to be ostracized. Like I went to a 3 star dentist recently but I don’t dear write a review about my experiences & concerns I need that dentist until I find a better one.
Though I do say to anyone looking for an endodontist he is really excellent and worth going to. It’s your teeth and you want the best. I would still go to him and put up with his ego and her being a witch.

I went to see Dr. Nasseh twice regarding a molar that hurt for weeks after a filling and both times he said I did not need a root canal. The tooth eventually calmed down and I am pain free. If I ever eventually need a root canal, I will only go to Dr. Nasseh. The office is very clean and the receptionist Jill is super nice and makes you feel at ease. Also, Dr. Nasseh’s fee for a root canal was about the same price as the quotes I received from two other general (non-​endodontist) dentists that also did root canals.

I am, sadly, going to disrupt the chain of 5 stars. I was in need of two root canals after an accident and decided to go with Dr. Nasseh. His office was part of the Aetna Vital Savings (meaning two root canals cost = $ 1, 400) and I had to take advantage of that. The receptionist was very very nice and patient as I sorted out my billing issues. She gave me medicine before the procedure and told me root canals are a piece of cake.
I sat down and Dr. Nasseh didn’t really talk a lot about the procedure. I was confused and didn’t know what to expect. I just went in, opened my mouth and before I knew it I was having two root canals done. It was quick, almost painless (I am anxious about shots… very). The assistant during procedure was ok. I was holding my essex retainer on my chest and neither offered to put it aside until after the procedure.
I wish my experience was as amazing as others’ but sadly, it was not. Luckily, I don’t have to return for sometime and hopefully won’t need more root canals in the future.

I was referred to Dr. Nasseh by my wife who had used him in the past. All of these positive reviews are absolutely 100% consistent with my experience — A+. First I went in for a consultation after my general dentist insisted that I needed a root canal to stop some «resorption» in my #19 molar. The general dentist wanted his in-​office guy to perform the procedure, but I elected to go see Dr Nasseh instead. Boy, I’m glad I did! First of all, Dr. Nasseh spent most of the first visit trying to convince me NOT to get a root canal because it might only add one or two years to the life of the tooth and he was sure the tooth would eventually need to come out. He was concerned about me spending the money unneccesarily.
I made the decision to move forward with the procedure, figuring I should keep my natural tooth for as long as possible rather than moving straight to an implant. So I scheduled, and they fit me in immediately (less than a week out). The price of the procedure was $ 1,500 and they agreed to take the $ 165 initial fee for the consultation off that amount. Very competitive, especially for someone as skilled as he is. I went in for the procedure, he numbed me up and then did further probing. The resorption was MUCH worse than he expected, so he aborted the procedure and encouraged me not to go ahead with it and to get the implant sooner rather than later. He could have easily done the procedure and made the money, but he very clearly had my best interests in mind.
He took the time to write a letter explaining the situation, and then he insisted on personally calling the implant speciliast to discuss my case. And of course, no charge for any of that.
BTW — the staff is amazing, Dr. Nasseh gives you his cell phone number if you have any problems, etc.
If you need a root canal, I recommend you don’t look any further and JUST GO HERE!

I was referred to Dr Nasseh by my dentist Dr Szary for an apicoectomy root canal last year. I was very fortunate to be sent to such a great endodontist! They were able to schedule me right away, the procedure was short and painless and both Dr Nasseh and I have been very satisfied with the end results. I can’t recommend him highly enough, great location, great staff, great experience.

Had two root canals done at one session. Not a hint of pain during the whole procedure and watching a movie made my visit actually enjoyable!

Dr. Nasseh is a GOD! Legit! I’ve had the fortune of being treated by him for a root canal and also refer patients to him. He is amazing! He lets you watch TV while he works on you. You don’t feel a thing and you’re there 1 hour max.
His staff is efficient, friendly, and super knowledgeable! GO JILL AND CHAUNDRA!!!

Dr. Nasseh is a straight boss.
Not sure I need to say anything else… except that I was able to watch Family Fued while getting a completely painless root canal in less than an hour.

Just got a root canal here today, and echo all the positive comments. I’d been dreading it, but it was painless. (And apparently I was in pretty bad shape.) Who knew this would be my favorite dental operation so far this year?
If you’re getting a root canal and can visit Dr. Nasseh, definitely go here.

Dr. Nasseh and his team did such a wonderful job in treating me after my nightmare experience at Boston Dental. The office is amazingly peaceful and you are treated so well from the first time you walk in the door and are greeted by the receptionist. I felt no discomfort during my root canal and wasn’t even swollen after the procedure and was able to eat real food later that night.
Dr. Nasseh & his team are very professional and I would come here again the next time I need an endo (hopefully never will again).

I am only 26, yet I’ve had 20 years of fillings, crowns and root canals. By the time I was 6, I already had 6 cavities. So by the time I’m 26, my mouth has seen a LOT of dentists. A LOT. So I know my stuff when I say, Dr. Nasseh is SO SO SO SO SO FANTASTIC. I rather have a root canal than a filling or a crown or anything else if everyone can be as efficient as Dr. Nasseh. Granted, he ONLY does root canals all day long, so let’s be honest, he’s got his stuff down!
Let’s talk EFFICIENCY first:
His entire office works like clockwork. From the minute you walk in, to the minute you leave, things work at the most efficient pace I’ve ever seen any doctor’s office do. The whole thing was one hour. One hour includes coming in, sitting down in the chair, getting the anesthesia, doing the whole drilling and shenanigans, paying, filling out a little survey, and even going to the bathroom. BAM so efficient. In fact, I noticed by the time I closed my mouth and the Doctor goes, «you’re done», the assistant had already cleaned up. By the time I got my jacket on, it was as spotless and unmoved as I had got there originally. By the time I walked out into the reception to pay, the receptionist had my prescription for antibiotics, a patient survey and a little sheet about what to expect after a root canal — all ready and waiting on the counter.
PROCEDURE:
This will be my 4^th root canal. Well, actually, technically, it was a root canal RE-​treatment, meaning that Dr. Nasseh was working on a tooth that already had a root canal many years ago. Not that any of my past root canals have been painful (just one because the stupid doctor didn’t give me enough anesthesia), but Dr. Nasseh gave me a LOT of anesthesia. More so than I’ve gotten from any dentists, ever. But that just means you feel NOTHING. Zero. Zip. In fact, I got kinda bored. I was staring at the ceiling TV watching CNN and sorta almost half dozed off and half day-​dreaming. It’s that chill. The drilling wasn’t even anything, if you are somebody that hates the sound. I didn’t get any earphones, but I think you can probably request earphones and an episode of a TV show. But I really was pretty much zoned out and it was surprisingly comfortable.
Dr. Nasseh has these crazy big microscopes that he looks down into your mouth from and works from there, which I thought was cool. He’s really big on technology from what I read from his website and using the most up-​to-​date technological advances, so I think that’s just great!
The actual procedure itself was probably 20 or so minutes. Dr. Nasseh is very fast AND painless. I personally also didn’t feel anything after the anesthesia wore off either.
STAFF:
Dr. Nasseh is a super chill guy. I get a very calm, relaxed mood from him. And he’s really friendly and asks you questions about yourself and is as nice as can be! I really liked him.
The receptionist is a WONDERFULLY SWEET WOMAN. She was soooo great and gave me some advil before the procedure and you also get this cute little toothbrush/​chapstick/​toothpaste KIT when you leave! It’s like getting a prize from the dentist! It’s like we’re 5 years old again! I like it.
PRICE:
Yes, yes, root canals are expensive. They can be anywhere between $ 500-​$ 1500. My root canal retreatment is the higher end because it’s a RE-​treatment. A normal root canal at a regular non-​sketchy endodontist really should be around $ 800-​$ 1000 without insurance.
I had a root canal once done for $ 500 and it was the most traumatizing experience of my life. That experience is the exact reason why people have these ideas about painful root canals. But the same time, it was no coincidence that the doctor was cheap as hell for a root canal. So I would not suggest anybody going somewhere cheap. Plus I think the $ 500 root canal was on the same tooth that Dr. Nasseh had to RE-​DO many years later, so money wise, just go to a good person you can trust!
And Dr. Nasseh is that person!
OH, and the next day, Dr. Nasseh’s office calls to ask how you are doing!

I just had the most pleasant root canal. Yeah, you read that right.
Sitting here as the numbness is wearing off, I’m still amazed at how quick and stress free this procedure was. Seriously, the only thing I felt was the the numbing needle go in, but that was a matter of seconds and my mouth couldn’t feel a thing.
Not only is Dr. Nasseh and his staff incredibly friendly and bright, the office is beautiful and conveniently located as well. I hopped right off the train, right into the office and was able to hit up CVS after.
THEY HAVE NETFLIX. I was most excited about this. As I sat back in the chair, I received a big set of headphones to drown out any noise and watched Arrested Development. I actually experienced joy during my root canal. Go figure. And by the time an episode was over, the procedure was just wrapping up.
Let’s hope I don’t have to go back. However, if I did, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all!
