This restaurant has a lot of good features especially the fabulous fried calamari appetizer with spicy chilis and aioli dipping sauce. The atmosphere is cozy and compact on the second floor. We had a nice table and thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails. The entrees were tasty, especially the homemade pasta but not spectacular. I’m guessing any pasta dish would be a good option. Our waiter did bring me a lovely glass of wine that paired nicely with my clam main. The only glitch was the disinterested waiter. While he was polite and competent, we didn’t see much of him after ordering until he dropped off the check.

Great Restaurant. Made reservations. The service was great and the waitress was friendly. 4 Stars is not correct. It should be 4.5 stars. We ordered meatballs and eggplant for appetizers. The meatballs were the best ones I have had at a restaurant. The only ones I have had better were ones made by my friend’s Italian grandmother. The Eggplant was amazing it had the perfect amount of sauce. Also, they were cut in very thin layers and stacked on top with each other kind of like a lasagna. For the entrée, we both ordered got the risotto. The risotto was great, but it only 4 shrimps on the top. Still the risotto was great and full of flavor. However, it was on the buttery side of thing. The prices are also a bit high, but still worth it.

The crispy calamari appetizer was a success. The breaded rings are mixed with sliced rings of a mildly hot pepper and chopped green onions. A tomato vinaigrette for dipping. Filling but not greasy at all. My main entrée was grilled giant scallops with asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. Sadly, it was dull, dull, dull. Perhaps it’s not meant to follow the spiciest of the calamari, as it tasted as though it had no seasoning at all. Not even garlic. The plate came out super-heated. All in all, not one of my best meals in Boston.

Quaint cozy restaurant in the north end. Service was courteous but a little brisk. I believe waiters should offer prices without being asked on any market price menu items or specials. Having been burned before, I asked since this waiter did not volunteer. Arugula salad was crisp and perfectly lightly dressed. Ordered halibut special which came hot and fresh. Generous portion but sadly it was over cooked to the point of dryness. But the Brussels sprouts and bits of pancetta that accompanied were great. Daughter ordered the clams with pasta which was delicious. White wine sauce was worthy of bread dipping. Tiramisu dessert was perfect ending. Overall enjoyed the restaurant.

It’s a little hard to find for the uninitiated, being on the second floor. We didn’t have a great experience, mostly based on the indifferent male server: snapping gum, looking out the window bored as we were making our order. He certainly didn’t make us feel welcome. I had the osso buco and it was very good. even better the next day!

We wanted to find a new restaurant in the North End since we’ve been going to Nico’s(which we love!) and decided to try Aria. The owner is very welcoming and the space is very attractive. Unfortunately, as others have said, it’s so loud you can barely hear those you are dining with. We went early and there was only one other couple in the place and yet the noise was deafening. It must be the wood floors and the type of ceiling. Some sort of sound proofing is really needed in my opinion. The food was pretty good but not as good as I expected for the prices.

I ate here during Boston’s Restaurant Week, so I did not pay their regular prices and ordered off a set menu. Having said that, this place is the real deal for Italian food in Boston’s North End. Their dinning spacer is rathe quaint, so do yourself a favor and call in a reservation, or make one on . Their Caprese appetizer and Bolognese pasta tasted as if I were eating it in Italy. Absolutely delicious, and the best I have had in the Boston area hands down. Their host staff was kind and tentative as well, when one of the cocktails I ordered from the bar took over 10 minutes, it was on the house. Finishing off my meal with the Tiramisu brought a savory end to a delicious experience at Aria Trattoria. Though very pricey, you will get what you pay for, and the pasta portions will not leave you hungry. The North End can be a real tourist trap, some restaurants charge exorbitant prices and offer food that would insult a real Italian. Aria is not that type of establishment. If your looking for a nice night out, make a reservation here and be ready to open up the wallet if you want some delicious Italian food. Aria is a must try.

This is an excellent restaurant in Boston! The owner is very accommodating and they offer gluten free menu items, including home made gluten free pasta. Their appetizers and entrees are delicious and they have a list of specials each night which are to die for. I recently brought a group of girls from out of town here for dinner and they all RAVED about it after we left! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an upscale, fine dining experience in the heart of Boston! :)

Oh my God I love this restaurant! There’s nothing like being cramped inside a shoebox eating delicious pasta and drinking great Montepulciano! Aside from being so close to your neighbors and listening to their dirty laundries, and the fact that you may have to shout to be heard, this restaurant is awesome! I had their lobster gnocchi which was to die for! My husband had the entrée special, which was an array of succulent seafood. Pretty good wine list and our server was fantastic! The owner was there to make sure each of his guests were enjoying themselves. On Fridays and Saturdays, you really need to make reservations thru Opentable and request a table near the window. It was such a treat and so much fun. Note to self: bring earplugs next time 8-)

This isn’t the best North End restaurant I’ve ever been to, but it was fine. I came here with 3 girlfriends for a birthday since it was on the restaurant week menu. The shrimp app I had was good, lemony and garlicy and well-cooked shrimp. It was served over a piece of toast, which was soggy — I would have preferred it on the side. For my entrée, I got the swordfish. It was a good size cut of fish, with nice grill marks, but was a little dry for my taste and not very seasoned. Then panzanella that came with it was good, tangy and refreshing. I got the chocolate cake for dessert, which I only ate a bite or two of since it was dry and not worth all the calories. The ambiance was pretty nice, but better for a romantic date than a group. It was very loud and I felt a bit hoarse by the end of dinner from trying to have a conversation diagonally across the table. The service was good, nothing exceptional, but pretty much what I’d expect from this type of restaurant. I wouldn’t choose this place again, but if someone recommend it I wouldn’t be against it. I’d just try a different entrée. My friends who got the mushroom risotto really liked that dish, and the meatballs were reportedly very good.

Went on a recommendation from a local friend while up in MA for the weekend with another couple. Very cool space in a 3 story building. Romantic and small. Owner was welcoming and squeezed us in for a later table. Had a few drinks at the small bar as he saved us a few seats. Food was good but the bolognese was by far the best I’ve ever had! Service was perfect too!

My favorite Italian in all of Boston. Felt like a friend was making dinner and the food was fantastic. We went with the chefs choice which left us to focus on drinking. I can’t say enough About the chefs choices… perfect.

My wife and I visited Aria’s for the first time this weekend. Her father, his girlfriend and his girlfriends daughter were joining us. We were in Boston to go to a Bruins game. A co worker of mine strongly recommended that we go to Aria’s before the game. Massimo greeted us at the door and showed us to our seats. We instantly knew we made the correct decision in going there for dinner. The instant you walk in you feel like you’re in Italy, everything from the soft pleasant music playing in the background, to the lighting and just the whole atmosphere is top notch. Once our food was brought to our table my wife and I just looked at each other and said wow. The colors, presentation and smells were amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection and the blend of spices on our food just brought everything to a whole new level. Aria’s is definitely worth a trip from southern Maine. If you live closer you need to go visit. If you live farther away, you need to go visit. It’s just that great.

Another great restaurant in Boston’s North End… I seriously don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a building on busy Hanover Street, so try and get a table near the window for good people watching. The atmosphere is cozy and quite nice and the service was great — so friendly and helpful! The food was amazing — I tried the fish special of grilled swordfish with olive oil, brussel sprouts and carrots and my coworker had the lobster risotto. We both were very pleased with our choices and stuffed after all of that delicious food!

Loved the food. Our reservations got a little screwed up 2 vs 4 but we were able to sit at the bar and the bartender was amazing! Offered us some ideas on specialty drinks(if you love peach he makes some delish drinks) there was even a pineapple infused vodka which was amazing. We also had a view of the kitchen from the bar so we got to watch our food being made. Everything we ordered was wonderful. Calamari, risotto, ravioli, etc. The four of us all got something different. Be sure to make a reservation. Small seating an you won’t be able to walk in unless the bar is empty. So worth it!
