From my first inquiry it was clear that these guys have a lot of pride in what they do. I really appreciated Ray’s blunt honesty about what a proper refinish would take. They were not going to cut any corners and that is exactly what you need for a remodel on a 100 year old bathroom. With fragile original brass plumbing, cumulative water damage into other rooms, and a hostile HOA who obstructed at every step, I was really glad that I could always rely on David to keep things moving and Marcio for beautiful framing and tiling. I asked a lot from this crew and they delivered. I would definitely call them for any future remodel.

I recently had a ½ bath converted into a full bath. The team was very supportive during the process given that it was my first remodel, especially David (Project Lead) and Maurcio (General Contractor). The bathroom came out great and Bay State was able to leverage their prior experience to give me suggestions on how to approach certain aspects. I would recommend Bay State for future remodeling jobs.

These guys are great. We have a pretty small apartment and they were able to do some pretty substantial renovations while we continued to live there. The whole process was substantially less stressful than it could have been.

I enjoyed working with Bay State in outfitting a new kitchen. They managed everything well, and did a good job. They were a few weeks behind in completing the job on time, but I have yet to meet a contractor who ever finished anything on schedule. Marcio, the contractor, was a pleasure to work with.

Bay State Remodeling has been a total pleasure to work with from start to (even after) completion. Like everyone else in New England, I had a lot of damage to my bathroom from both ice dams and also a pipe bursting from the unit above mine imploding my bathroom ceiling. I decided it was time to do a full remodel, down to the studs (keeping the tub only). I got 4 quotes from 4 different sources and they were the only one’s that were reasonable and in line with what my expectations were. They started on time and although they initially quoted 3 – 4 weeks, I set my expectation to 6 weeks which it ended up being. The delay was out of their control as the town I live in requires so many inspections. They were so professional, nice, helpful, and very communicative. Ray and David, Marcio, Rogerio, Ari the plumber and Samuel the tile guy — they all did excellent work. It came out exactly if not better then I ever imagined. I would highly recommend Bay State Remodeling and will use them again.

I had an excellent experience with Bay State Remodeling. When I moved into my condo, I knew the bathroom needed to be redone. The walls in the shower were soft and falling apart, the sink and toilet leaked, and the layout was off. I called Ray for an estimate. I worked with Martha (the receptionist/​office manager?) to schedule the appointment, she was very pleasant and informative. Ray showed up on time, early even, and explained the different options I had in terms of how to go about the remodel. After getting the estimate, Ray put up with me calling and emailing several times with various questions I had before getting started. This is my first home purchase and my first remodel and Ray was extremely patient with me.
The actual project was a complete gut. David, the project manager, showed up on time the first day and was responsive and communicative throughout the whole project. David also put up with me texting him frequently with any questions I had. He always responded within an hour, no matter the day of the week. Marcio, Ari, Samuel, and Jonathan were on the team and made my bathroom look amazing. But most importantly, they made my bathroom functional! It’s such a relief knowing I have a bathroom that actually works and also adds value to my apartment. The project came in on time and on budget (any delays or increases in budget were because I added to the scope a bit).
I would highly recommend Bay State to anyone looking to do renovate or completely remodel their bathroom.

I called these guys sometime early summer looking for a price for a refinish job. I spoke to Martha, she was fantastic very patient and professional with me considering, that I didn’t call them back until this month to get the job done.
The technician (Juan) came out and did his thing. It was interesting how he spent more time doing the prep work than the job itself. After it was complete, the pink tub looked like a brand new recently installed white tub. This company along with Juan and Martha deserve more than 5 stars.

So I’m not writing this review because of the work that was done but because of the work this company refused to do. I called to have someone come out and quote a bathroom remodel — new floors, new drywall, tile bathtub, and install a new vanity. The woman on the phone said it wasn’t a «full and complete» remodel and they didn’t do this kind of work. I’m not sure how much else I could have needed other than a new tub basin, but this is definitely bad for business in my personal opinion.

I’m renovating 2 rental apartments in my multifamily home. This includes new kitchens, refurbished hardwood floors, new light fixtures, new bathroom vanities and a new look for the bathroom tiles and bath tubs with the help of tile glazing. I received quotes for the tile glazing from 2 companies, and Bay State’s pricing was better. I received the 4 service dates I requested.
The technician who services my 4 bathrooms was Yuri. He arrived when he said he would each day. He was polite, respectful and really knew his trade well. He is a diligent hard worked. Several of my bathrooms had damaged grout, and Yuri skillfully repaired this for a small adder to the bill, and it was well worth it. The end results exceeded my expectations. My bathrooms were transformed in a day from an odd brown color to gleaming white with perfect grout. My friends who have seen the results are also amazed at how good the tiles and tubs look now. They look new. I will be calling Bay State again for future work, and I’ll request Yuri to be the technician on my job.

These guys are so awesome! Where do I begin? They have great attention to detail, they were genuinely concerned about my budget and time frame, and they even came back and fixed a couple of minor points after the job was complete! Marcio, Rogerio and David were very patient and competent and genuinely cared about the job, and AJ was great at tile and even drank my terrible coffee! David was constantly in contact via email, and modified and adjusted paperwork for my insurance company a couple of times without a problem. Their plumber, John, was great, too. He worked on a minor issue with the shower temperature control as if it were his own house. I am so grateful for their help and I love my new bathroom, even if it is for my tenant :)

My husband and I are new homeowners so this was our first major project. We called several contractors for a quote to remodel our outdated bathroom and Ray was the only one who showed up on time. All of the quotes we received were comparable for the project but I chose Bay State based on reviews and Ray’s first impression.
The project consisted of gutting our bathroom and they installed a standup marble tile shower, ceramic floor, vanity, and washer and dryer. David was the project manager and he did a good job of communicating with us throughout the process.
Darly and Adiso were great contractors who showed up on time every morning until the bathroom was complete. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves everyday. We felt completely comfortable with them in our home even when we were not home. Darly did the tile work and he is truly talented. He takes great pride in his work and it definitely shows. Both, Adiso and Darly, pay close attention to detail and didn’t cut any corners. I was having problems with my dryer vent so I called David. Darly and Adiso were at my house to fix the problem the next day.
We need to do more renovations on our home and will definitely call Bay State. We highly recommend them to anyone who wants quality work done.

I hired Bay State to re-​glaze my horrible harvest gold tub. Yuri came and did a wonderful job. He was very professional and respectful. He was here for about 3 hours and when he left the only reason you knew anyone was here was because my yellow tub was now a beautiful white! I would recommend Yuri and Bay State to anyone looking to update their bathroom without spending thousands on a new tub.

I recently purchased a home in Malden which needed a complete gut bathroom job. The bathroom was still in the 70s, so I knew the job would take a really long time to complete. My dilemma was that my parents already booked a trip up to Mass, and I didn’t have much time to spare. Thinking I was out of luck, and assuming the job would at least take 1 to 2 months considering the amount of work, I decided to call around to get an idea. I reached out to a few contractor’s, most never got back to me or would just tell me I was out of luck until I came across Baystate Remodeling. Within a couple of hours I got a call from their office manager and scheduled a quote, keep in mind this was during the Thanksgiving weekend. They told me they would have the job done in two weeks guaranteed! I couldn’t believe it, but they assured me it would be done so I decided to go with them. I closed on the house on Dec 2, they started the work Dec 5^th and had the whole job completed by the 20^th!
Ray, David, Daily and Adisio were incredible! I can’t stress enough how fast the job was done, and the quality was top notch. At one point I decided to change the Vanity counter (didn’t match well with the floor tiles I decided to go with) and thinking they would charge to me make the change, they swapped it out no problem with a better matching one. You can take shortcuts and go with another contractor but if you want the job done right, without any headaches, then contact these guys! You won’t be disappointed.

I used Baystate refinishing for my bathroom re-​finishing. Overall I’m happy with the work and price. Scheduling was easy and they were flexible with last minute changes due to work. Yuri came on-​time and overall was respectful with my home. I’ve worked with a number of contractors and some treat your home like a backlot washroom.
The actual work looks good. For those wondering I don’t think you could tell the tub and tiles were refinished. I have no complaints. I waited two months to write the review to see if there would be any issues and two months later everything is holding up. I would follow somebody else’s comments to remove all the bathtub fixtures prior to the work being done. After reading others comments I did the same and it creates a much more cleaner look. I have another bathroom in my home that needs refinishing and I’ll be calling on them again.

I hired Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling for a complete renovation of a bathroom in my home. The project was substantial since it required replacing a tub with a walk-​in shower, installing a new floating vanity and toilet, removing tile from the walls, installing tile in the shower and floors, and moving light fixtures. David and his team, in particular Darly and Adisio did a terrific job and I could not be more pleased with the final product.
Everyone with whom I interacted at Bay State was highly professional and courteous. Throughout the project I was kept well informed about the progress and the next steps in the process. Darly and Adisio worked diligently each day in completing tasks within timelines without sacrificing the quality of their work.
I would recommend Bay State to anyone looking for a great contractor. I also plan on hiring them again for another project in my home. They are excellent!

Part 1
I did a lot of reviewing here on Unilocal for a tub refinishing company. I even dropped a note to a few of you to see what your results were a or later. Based on everyone’s success I went with Bay State and thought I would add my review.
We made the appointment and based on recommendations here, asked for Ray. The day of the appointment was approaching and I hadn’t received an email confirmation, nor a time to expect the crew. I sent out an email requesting a time and the evening before, got the details. Cruz showed up on time at 8:30 and told me the work will take a few hours. My wife met him at the end of the job, and paid him the price discussed on the phone. She then receives a paper that lists among other things, the actions that if taken will void the warranty– for example, if when removing the paper covering, after a minimum of 48 hours, the homeowner tears the paint, the 5 year warranty is voided.
I immediately called and talked with Ray, who said there will be no problems taking off the paper. So, I began to carefully remove the paper, and after the first 4 inches, a small tear began. It was obvious the paint was applied very heavily along the top edge of the tub. I then called Ray, telling him my situation. He said he would call me Monday to schedule someone to come out and remove the paper (I talked with him on Friday) and as requested sent him pictures of the tear, along with other sections of the top of the tub showing the paper. I received a call Monday, instead, telling me to remove the paper myself, and if there was a problem he would come out and fix it. I am going make another attempt, using a utility knife carefully cut the edge hopefully separate paper and tape from tub edge.
My question is, shouldn’t the paper covering have been removed immediately after the painting was done, by the painter, not the home owner? When the painter of my apartment walls and woodwork finished, he removed his drop cloths And the blue painters tape he used!
I will report back after part 2 is finished.

I found a used blade on the floor that was left behind. I’ve emailed management.
1. Different information between sales and techs
2. Defects were not addressed nor was I notified
3. Part of the tub wasn’t painted to match
4. Used blades left behind.

Where do I even begin with Bay State. I emailed Ray via his website email and he responded within a few hours. He came out promptly the following day to assess and take measurements. This is rare in Boston. Usually you are waiting a week before anyone even bothers to show up.
Rays crew which consists of a Dolce & Gabbana glasses wearing plumber. D&G was an awesome plumber who does great work. The tile guy, Dalie, was very friendly and does awesome tile work. The entire crew was very friendly. I’m very demanding and have mild ocd so I can be a pain in the ass to work with. No one ever lost their patience and no yelling took place. Usually I get into an argument with contractors but not Ray.
The work: I had Ray gut out my entire bathroom here in the South End and install a walk in tiled shower with frameless glass shower door. Everything was replaced. Even the ceiling. Ray’s guys arrived promptly every day to begin work. Dalie even layed tile late into the evening to finish on time so I could use my shower and toilet as I only have on bathroom in my 700sqft condo.
In summary, I would hire Ray again. My bathroom looks amazing and feels like a mini spa. If you want prompt service done to standard, you will hire Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling.

My company hired Bay State to do a bathroom remodel and also to build a new office. I was their on site contact, so I coordinated with the guys directly. We are very happy with the work they did. They even gave us design ideas for the office space.
Adison and Darly did the work (great guys) and David, their manager was always available when I needed him. We are planning on hiring them again. Recommend!

Ray and his crew did a great job removing an old bath fitters insert that had, surprise, surprise, leaked and then refinishing the original tub underneath to a glossy white sheen. They also put in some tile and new fixtures for us too. Talk about an upgrade! It’s like having a spa in our place.
Every interaction we had with Ray, David and their crew was professional and they did a great job of keeping us apprised of the work that was done each day. They even helped us avoid a major problem when our thermostat battery died when we were away.
Big thanks for a job well done and I’d have no qualms about hiring them again.
