I just love this little place! Everything is fresh, great quality and made there. Best breakfast– egg, cheese & avocado breakfast sandwich. It’s awesome! For lunch– turkey taco salad is excellent, they have great buffalo chicken, tuna salad is perfect… they do a great job. Don’t forget about dessert. Sometimes I grab extra cookies for my coworkers and everyone loves them. You know what else is great? The people who work there. They are kind, friendly, and nice people. There is limited searing in this cozy spot but I always take it to go. It’s in an easy to miss location, but don’t miss it!

Get the soup! Anything they make is amazing but the soups are especially great. You should also go for the avocado, egg and cheese if you’re there in the morning. If you want a sandwich for lunch, go avocado egg salad. Bean & Leaf has never steered me wrong.

Believe the hype: The turkey chili here is truly special. Came here based on recommendations from co-workers, I was told«make sure you get the turkey chili!» And whilst I was tempted to try one of the so-many other delicious offerings, I opted for the chili. You know how sometimes chili can be entirely too heavy & greasy? Well, not the case here. The turkey chili had a wonderful blend of flavor — without weighing you down throughout the afternoon. Highly recommend.

Typically I love this place, love. But today I got a cream cheese bagel with almost zero cream cheese. Very disappointing

Love this place. Just a small joint across the street from work but the service is excellent and as fast as they can be for the amount of traffic they get. They have a wide selection of choices for both breakfast and lunch. I usually get the same thing: bacon, avocado & egg on an english muffin & the turkey chili for lunch — yum

Solid lunch spot in the financial district — variety of sandwiches, soups, and chicken salads. The turkey & avocado on onion focaccia was simple and traditional. The cilantro chicken soup had a few cubes of chicken and large pieces of stewed tomato/carrots. The soup was delicious but a little on the salty side. This place would be a great option for soup in the bitter winter months.

Solid lunch spot with a nicely varied menu — something for everyone. Turkey chili is piping hot and delicious. Huge portion also, a large for $ 6 is enough for two meals for me! Fast but still friendly service — I’m looking at you, angry ladies at Al’s — and very good prices for the area. Next time I’m at Long Wharf I’ll be back for lunch.

My office is right across the street from this place and I eat here almost every day for lunch! Their turkey chili is some of the best I’ve ever had. Their buffalo chicken chili is perfect for those of you looking for something paleo that isnt a salad. The hummus is homemade and DELISH. They also have a half sandwich option that you can pair with a small soup or salad or nothing! Everything is fresh and made right in front of you. The prices are great for a downtown lunch — the most I’ve spent is $ 11. They take cash and credit cards. For breakfast they will pretty much make you anything you want. I had an egg, bacon, avocado sandwich on an english muffic that will cure any morning-after-after-work-drink feelings you may have. They also do bagels, omeletes, muffins, and coffee. I won’t let myself try their cookies or brownies because they look so good I may get hooked! There is seating but its a little cramped so definitely not somewhere you want to go for a sit down talk at lunch time. Mostly a takeout place, but if you have the change to eat here DOIT.

Bean and Leaf is a great lunch spot. The service is quick and the staff is pleasant. I ordered the veggie chili for lunch today and it was fantastic– perfect for the winter! I’ve also had their breakfast sandwiches and wraps, which are excellent. This is a small company that I am happy to support.

Nice little lunch spot. You can get an entire meal(entrée and side) for fairly cheap($ 8-$ 9). The have a ton of options and always have hot soups and a few specials(that come with a salad). I had the tuna melt and thought the sandwich was huge. They have quite a substantial menu and I heard people ordering a variety of things. On the salad, you can«make you own»(but you tell the guy what to put on it) and all of the toppings looked fresh and the hot bar was clean. They have minimal indoor seating so be prepared to take your food back to the office.

on the fence about this place. The food was tasty and creative, but the execution was sloppy and hard to eat. Also I wish the back area where the food was prepared looked a little cleaner. It was just such a turn off, which is a bummer. But the staff was friendly and quick.

I randomly wandered in here and got an egg & cheese sandwich. It was a legit omelet on an English muffin and it was delicious. However, I got here kind of late(totally jet lagged, partially hungover) and the place was totally messy. I was glad I had the bag to put down on the bar to eat because it clearly hadn’t been wiped down in awhile. On the plus side, they did have rad music playing.

Come here for breakfast, not for lunch. Their breakfast options are awesome and CHEAP — and the staff is really friendly. You can choose from yummy egg sandwiches, omelets, breakfast burritos, and lots of pastries. For lunch, they don’t really have many options for vegetarians or pescatarians — despite a name that makes it seem like they do. Their salads leave a lot to be desired. Their grilled cheese, which I was really excited to get when I saw it, is essentially just cheese stuck between two pieces of sandwich bread and stuck in a panini press… not actually a grilled cheese. I’ve bought yogurts that had gone bad before their expiry date on a few occasions, which is definitely annoying. The one good lunch I’ve had here consisted of a falafel wrap and brownie. Yumm. AND my coworkers RAVE about their turkey chili… so, if you’re NOT a vegetarian, you may like the Bean and Leaf.

In terms of food, Bean & Leaf is my go-to for soups during the work week. They always have at least 4 different, yummy, core-warming soup options, from the consistently delicious turkey chili to the familiar goodness of your standard chicken noodle. Sometimes there’s wedding soup, sometimes there’s dumpling soup, but there’s always soup for a cold winter or rainy spring day. The salad selection is the next point to make. They have a variety of cold salads, like a chicken/salsa/avocado, chicken curry, or pasta and white bean. Any of these can be made into a wrap, and they have regular or spinach tortillas. There is the obligatory make-your-own salad bar, but really, why bother when they’ve already come up with a lovely and inventive option for you to try? Or mix several together! The possibilities are endless. The daily specials are also worth noting: although a little more expensive, sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself to slice of homestyle meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a good-sized side salad. Bean & Leaf is homey comfort food away from home. Which brings me to the most important part of Bean & Leaf: the brownies by the register. Oh. My. Goodness. The brownies. They put them on a raised cake stand, directly in line to pick up your order as it’s handed to you. Sometimes they put out a plate of brownies crumbles for you to sample, and then, you. are. done. for. They’re fluffy but dense, chocolatey but not overly gooey, and almost [almost!] bittersweet. No nuts; why do that to a perfectly good brownie? I don’t know what recipe they use but I’m glad it exists. Bean & Leaf: a fan favorite for all the right reasons.

«Don’t you wish your lunch was hot like me!»…this is what the menu reads. I’m not kidding. I thought it was funny, so I went in to see what they had — its a slow week so they are running a semi-limited menu and were out of the first 3 things I asked for. They push the 5 types of chicken salad HARD — but you know what? In the end it was worth it. I ordered the rainbow chicken salad wrap — which consists of chicken, very little dressing(good), huge chunks of green and red apples, corn niblets, parsley and dried cranberries. SOGOOD. They have a nice selection when it’s not a holiday week, are fresh, not to busy and are really nice. What’s not to love?
