Bliss Spa at W Boston

I’ve never been to Bliss before, and I have extremely sensitive skin that is both dry and prone to breakouts, so I was a little worried that I’d have a bad reaction to a product. Luckily, I had a facial with Maureen over the holidays, and it was EXACTLY what I needed, and my skin didn’t break out either! I love Bliss so much that I will likely be signing up for their monthly facial membership at another location (alas, I don’t live in Boston). The spa is EXTREMELY clean: the spa’s housekeeping staff is extremely efficient, and I hope they get acknowledgement for that, and the décor seems to trend toward a slightly younger set (25 – 35), not that there’s anything wrong with that. Bliss pays a lot of attention to detail for clients’ needs once your treatment is over: bathrobes, slippers, towels, toiletries, combs, hairdryers, etc. There are lockers with programmable locks, so you don’t need to worry about your belongings during your treatment, you can just relax and float away. Service at the front desk was efficient and friendly, though I didn’t see the spa’s location when I first entered the hotel. Parking here can be a bit of a challenge, so don’t even bother looking for a spot on the street; your best bet is one of the nearby garages.

My wife got us a deep tissue massage. To keep it short, when we met again outside we both commented on how AWFUL it had been. The person who gave her the massage scratched her several times since she had long nails, my wife told her she was cold and the lady not only didn’t do anything she answered that it was the cream (aren’t you supposed to heat it in your hands before touching you clients warm back… Maybe it was a deep tissue/​shock massage?), this was a FULL body massage, my wife’s feet were never touched, when my wife asked for her feet to be massaged the lady told her that she should have payed extra for more time since they were already 10 min over, after standing from table and once my wife got her watch she THEN saw they were just in time .To this I say: the person giving the massage should time him/​her self to provide a FULL body massage or maybe you should keep track of time while you try to relax??? As for my experience, cold cream/​hands, when asked for stronger massage (this is a DEEP TISSUE massage) her response was «you need to get a 260 pound Russian lady for this)… Need I say more? Manager was supposed to contact us to follow up… I’m still waiting (December 16^th 2015… Yes REALLY)

Great location in the W hotel by the Boylston T stop. The décor is modern and bright/​cheery– the locker room is extremely clean with all the amenities and the waiting area is cozy and has perfect little brownie bites and other snacks. The staff is very friendly and I have enjoyed all treatments I have experienced here. I have not had good facial experiences in the past at other places, but opted to try one at Bliss with Josephina– boy am I glad i did! My skin looks great and it was the most relaxing experience of my life. I added a rubbery mask that was well worth the extra cost and received a stress melting shoulder, back, and foot massage while it set. I normally don’t spend a lot on «extras» like spa treatments and came with a gift card, but will definitely be returning and signing up for the monthly membership package. Worth every penny!

This is the PERFECT place for a spa date with the girls! Located in the W Hotel– go up to the 2^nd floor and you will find the lovely Bliss Spa. Checked in, and was led into the locker room where you can put all your belongings into a locker and you will be provided a robe. I took a shower in the steam shower room– there’s only one normal one, and another that is handicap-​assesible. The one down side to the shower was that… there was no perfect warm water temperature… it was either very hot or very cold… and while i did struggle with that handle. i am not sure why it wouldn’t give me a normal temperature. i tried turning it little by little to see if the temperature would be normal but no. Oh well. They should get that fixed. Otherwise, after that… my friend and i waited in this little lounge room they have in which they provide cheese, crackers, small nibbles of brownies and chocolate. olives… and they have tea (mango peach one is very nice) and lemon water. They also have magazines of you to look through while you wait, but i was happy to just chat with my girlie. There was like 2 – 3 other girls in their, but then I got called into my 75 minute massage… pure heaven with Gina. She’s really good. After that, i went back to the lounge to wait for my triple oxygen facial appointment… she was 15 mins after my scheduled appointment but she was very sweet– Kiley. Love the warm bed that you lay on.
I left BLISS very very relaxed which was my goal! Perfect birthday present to myself and hope to return next time i want to treat myself to something special. It’s very pricy. but sometimes you just need to treat yourself!

I just had my fist American at Bliss Spa at W Boston. I’ve been looking for my waxing place for a while, previous to coming here I had a horrible experience at a hair salon and was reluctant to do it again, however I booked here, Moley was great, she knew exactly what she was doing. I’ve been to other places where they pamper you more, (they give you the cold cloth while waxing, and other stuff), but I liked Bliss Spa at W Boston because they did an excellent job for a very affordable price, I like the fact that they use organic made in Toronto wax, the place looks welcoming, clean and smells nice. I will for sure come here on my next waxing day and will try it again.

The service I received was the Deep Sea Detox — body wrap that I got a few months ago to celebrate a new job offer!
First of all, the service is very comprehensive — I got a dry brush, a heated wrap AND a massage. I should note that the massage isn’t the same as a dedicated massage service — it’s topical and more to make sure the products sink in.
The best part is the overhead Vichy shower. The shower is scented with a very earthy aromatherapy blend. The technician was very attentive and was also quiet (I prefer the quieter to the endless chatter types). She was very responsive and gave me some pause to relax and really take in the experience.
It’s a VERY long treatment — do not book if you want to be in and out or if you are getting a few services, you might want to book this one last. I really enjoy Bliss spa because everything about the experience is on-​point; check in, waiting, ambiance; everything. This is also not the sort of salon to attempt to hard-​sell you products at the end of the visit. They even let you keep the dry brush they used! I honestly can’t think of anything I’d improve about my experience. Easy five stars. Don’t forget a great tip!
**Just a note — if your skin is sensitive like mine, you can request they use different products. Part of the treatment is an essential oil blend that I had changed because I’m allergic to the usual products used. If you have sensitive or reactive skin you might want to find out beforehand the type of massage oils they use.

I had the most amazing facial today done by Kate! She was very informative and listened to exactly what I wanted. If I lived in Boston I’d go see her regularly! The atmosphere is very relaxing and the whole place is very clean– definitely a 5 star experience.

I wanted to love this place. I have received a few different services, waxes, facials, mani and pedis. Each time I left I wasn’t blown away but its clean and mostly friendly so I kept going back. What irritated me was today I forgot that I booked an appt, I got caught up at work but instead of someone calling me to remind me/​ask if was on my way my credit card was charged for the full amount of services that I didn’t receive. I understand that I knew the policy but what about a little common courtesy.

My husband & I had a great experience at Bliss! He got the 85 min extreme sports massage, I got the 75 min blissage. The hot parafin wax on my feet was a nice touch. The massage wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was very good and there were several extra touches like a cucumber eye mask, scalp rub, adjustable table, heated sheets, etc that made it very worthwhile! Every staff member was exceptionally nice, the facility was clean, modern and fun! The staff did a great job at keeping everything stocked well and the little snacks were a nice touch. The facilities were on the smaller side, but it wasn’t a problem for our visit (if it had been busy I could’ve seen it being an issue as there were only 2 showers and a few chairs in the lobby, but it was fine for our visit). The steam shower was AMAZING and though I was disappointed there wasn’t a steam room/​sauna, the steam shower was a million times better and a great touch with the rainfall double shower heads!
Would definitely go back! Things to improve: offer a couples massage/​couples room for romantic getaways

I got whisked away to Boston as a surprise girls’ weekend for my 40^th birthday recently. We had pedicures which were lovely; not exactly sure which pedicures they were since my friend pre-​arranged everything. But they did a fantastic job and I love their products. Bliss is clean, very comfortable, very very posh. We changed into spa robes and the whole bit. Perhaps a bit on the small side but that wouldn’t really matter to most people unless they were in a big group (i was not). I’m sure if I saw the price list my mind would be blown. ;) But the staff helped arrange a super special surprise (another friend had flown in from out of state and they snuck him in) so I’m giving 5 stars for their incredible attentiveness and hospitality. When we left they gave me a handwritten birthday card and little goody back of treats — so thoughtful and kind!

I had my first scrub, rub and scrub. I typically only get facials or massages, but this time I decide to do something new.
The spa is unlike anything I have experienced. The attention to detail in the décor and the design is something to model after.
My technician (starts with a g?)was wonderful and the girl at the front desk (name escapes me) young, brunette, was sweetheart!
I will return and I will try the Hoboken NJ one now!

Best pedicure I’ve ever had! I get regular mani/​pedis but my feet were the worst they’ve ever been, it was embarrassing. And it was my birthday so I decided to treat myself to something a little fancier than my usual place. I got the «heel-​la-​lujah pedicure» and they are a million times better!
The setup is also super comfortable. New super comfy pedicure chairs with stainless steel bowls so the water stays warm the whole time. iPad setups so you can watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. And then the chair converts into a manicure station so you don’t even have to move! Albeit, it’s expensive, but it’s worth it for a once-​in-​a-​while treat.

After writing this review the manager from Bliss Spa contacted me to discuss why I was unhappy with my service. Although I wasn’t completely happy with the service I received, the follow up customer service was great.

I was a part of a bridal party at Bliss recently.
I got one of the cheapest treatment that we were offered, the «heel-​lelujah pedicure», which is $ 70. (20% gratuity is included when you pay, so it was $ 84 total). The nail techs were very nice, not too talkative, but made small pleasant conversation. They have a wide variety of colors to choose from (OPI, Essie and even Shellac? I believe). A French is $ 10 extra, so we stuck with a color.
The pedicure itself was okay, nothing really different than any other pedicure I’ve ever had, other than they buff out your feet/​heels for a bit longer. It wasn’t as ticklish as other salons, so that was a plus. They did give us warm neck pillows (smelled like chamomile/​lavender) which we loved. Otherwise, we just weren’t blown away, for $ 84 I expected gold flecks to be rubbed onto my feet or some sort of expensive scrub to be used while we got a leg massage… but no. no gold, no scrub, no leg massage. bleh. (minus one star).
The salon itself is spacious, has a few little sitting areas, but nowhere that you can all really sit together as a group. We tried sitting in the massage waiting area, but that got crowded quickly with other parties coming in, so it made it awkward. (minus one star).
They offer unlimited lemon water and bite sized snacks (pictured). After a little while we were even offered champagne.
The salon validates parking, so its $ 20 for 3(ish) hours.
Overall, a nice experience, but in my opinion — not worth the drive into the city and certainly not worth $ 84.

Went with my sister. Nails were pretty and the staff was okay to me but not to my sister. Right away they offer people a beverage. Apparently my sister and I don’t look 21 or older. (We’re 26 and 27.) Everybody else was offered champagne or tea. We were offered water or tea. The secretary had an interesting conversation with my sister. She asked what school she went to. When my sister replied she was an office manager she was shocked at how young she was. And then lectured my sister on wanting gel nails when our appointment was a half hour each, so did the nail lady. She didn’t want extra time just different polish. I had a nice time but I’m disappointed how my sister was treated. Won’t go back and decided against the purchase I wanted. People should not judge others based on their looks.

This review is for the waxing services at Bliss. I had read all the reviews online about the ‘painless’ waxing, and even had a friend who bravely went before and experienced the Bliss wax. She also claimed that it was virtually pain-​free, so I intrepidly made an appointment. I didn’t have an esthetician preference, so I was randomly assigned to Bryanna’s schedule.
I do not have enough good things to say about her — SHE IS AMAZING! I have had many waxes at various spas over the years, and I have never felt so little pain. She takes her time, but is also efficient, and doesn’t leave you laying on the table with your lady parts exposed for longer than necessary. Additionally, there is no lasting rawness, or awkward skin reaction. You won’t even know you just got out of a wax by the time you leave the W. While admittedly, no wax is without some discomfort, a Brazilian at Bliss is worth the high price and the minimal pain.

Bliss is expensive, and the price tag for a wax kinda hurts (luckily the wax itself doesn’t), but for someone whose skin reacts negatively to a lot of scents and chemicals, it is worth it. I’ve been coming here for a while for bikini waxes, as this is the only place where the wax doesn’t irritate my super sensitive skin. Toni is fabulous — the least painful wax ever, and she is super friendly and puts you right at ease in what, let’s face it, could be a very awkward situation. Chatting with her while she works helps take my mind off of the (minimal, thanks to her) discomfort of getting a brazilian.
I love that you can book (and cancel) online — I don’t know why all spas and salons don’t offer this, so convenient. I’ve never had any issue when I’ve needed to cancel or reschedule, but I’ve never tried to do so with less than 24 hours notice. They do really emphasize that policy so I imagine that they probably hold you to it. One time I was running about 10 minutes late for my appointment (thank you, mbta) and was worried that they would cancel and still charge my card, but it wasn’t a problem; I was still able to get the service and didn’t feel like she was rushing to make up for the time.

Not awesome. Dirty floors, old food, unfriendly, unhelpful girl at front desk. She did not give me a thorough tour so I didn’t know how to operate anything. My bed on the facial was broke. Did not ask to validate my parking. Ugh :(

$ 160 for an hour & a quarter massage that was far more about smelly oils and worthless fluff than actual substance. Got the feeling I was putting the vast majority of that money straight into the hands of the Bliss corporate execs and the building owners. My wife was with me (so the tab was $ 320 + tip) and she specifically asked for NOT so much oil, but was totally ignored and was summarily slathered in the seemingly-​required copious amount of greasy substance. She was also told she would receive a fantastic scalp massage, which consisted of a few seconds at the very end of her massage.
Being a massage therapist myself I knew what to expect, and was only wanting it to be a nice relaxing experience for both of us while we were in Boston.
I was completely disappointed. What a joke. Putting my money in slot machines in a casino would’ve been a more cathartic experience.

I just wrote a review of an amazing spa and in turn it reminded me of how horrible my experience has been here.
Bliss spa, I wanted to love you, I really did. But you are a skin-​ruiner.
The one star is only for the aesthetic. I love the space, it is beautiful and calming.
My facialist used her bare hands to do extractions and when I asked her what she was doing, she said it was a much better and cleaner way. I broke out like I never have in my life. It was terrible. My face hurt and looked really red.
So I thought it could have just been my experience, but after talking to a few MUA friends who had the exact same thing happen at this Bliss spa, I will never come back. For the amount it costs, you can go anywhere else and get much better treatments.
Also had a manicure after my facial– the manicurist seemed so annoyed that she had to be there that it was actually uncomfortable for me to be sitting there. The manicure also chipped within a day. Meh.
