Don’t do business with these people. 2 months after an illegal eviction and after making a settlement, they’re suing me. Real bright Mr. Hassman. They changed the locks on me the same day they filed eviction paperwork because they screwed up on their end and double rented out a room I was physically in. Don’t let this happen to you. Pick a different realtor/​management company if you are a landlord and/​or a tenant.

Boston Property Services has been a pleasure to work with thus far. We worked with Dan, a real estate agent with the group, who helped us quickly find an apartment in our desired area and price range. Dan was very responsive and helpful. We have since moved in and our concerns have been addressed promptly by Adam and other members of the property management company. We are looking forward to working with this company for the remainder of our 2015 – 2016 lease.

BPS are a bunch of low life scum bags. When we first moved in we had an essay of things that needed to be repaired. BPS let us suffer though the brutal winter without fixing any of them and are only now fixing them 2 months before our lease is up. Probably because they’re charging the next poor souls $ 500 more to live here. They also tell us they’re coming when they don’t and then show up unannounced at obscene hours in the morning to do loud work right outside my window. I’ve never worked with such a rude and disorganized property management service. Our house is great but they make it a burden to live here. I can’t wait to move so I don’t have to deal with them ever again. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. That’s probably why they give you free stuff when you sign a lease. Because they’re getting ready to f*** you over. Be warned!

We have worked with Dave Hassman for the last three years, first as a property manager and then as a seller’s agent. I can’t recommend Dave enough. He knows the neighborhood, knows the market, and always tells it to us straight. He was able to negotiate the best rates for our rental and the best price for our sale. He is always available and responds quickly with real information. What really struck me about this service is that we wanted to sell about 3 years ago, and Dave recommended that we rent it out. When the market picked up, he was right there to recommend selling and find us a great buyer. For property management, the rates are incredibly reasonable for what you get. Security, maintenance, the whole 9 yards. Dave is an incredibly nice guy and won’t ever BS you. It’s rare to find someone who does the job right, and if you’re renting or selling a property, call Dave first.

Avoid BPS at all costs!
After living with Boston Property Services for a year, I will never use their «services» or realtors again. Dave Hassman, the manager, is difficult to work with and doesn’t care about his tenants. He is rude, yelled at my roommates and I, unaccountable, and uses his temper to conduct business. Our apartment, at 495 commonwealth, had many issues– the heat didn’t work in the winter for nearly 6 weeks, at one point it got to the low 50s/​high 40s in our apartment — Boston Property Services didn’t repair it until we called Dave 20x asking for help. He called us «liars,» told us we were «crazy women,» and that we «needed to stop bothering him.» After 6 weeks, he sent out a technician who found the entire heating system was clogged with dust and debris and that there was no way it would work properly in the state it was in. It took them 3 days in the apartment to fix it and restore heat. When we first moved in, the water in the kitchen didn’t work for the sink or dishwasher– BPS told me to «use a sink in the bathroom.» One night, all of the fire alarms in our apartment went off — fireman came and told us it was because the fire alarms had been improperly wired and were old/​outdated. Dave said the fireman had no idea what they were talking about. On numerous occasions I would ask Dave to fix things or to address issues in the apartment and instead of repairing the issues, he would do a quick fix and usually after weeks of trying to get in contact. Immediately after moving in to the apartment we had a ton of issues since the place was just «renovated» and when I called BPS their agents would say things like «we are so busy, can you relax and deal with it.» Or «we have so much going on right now, we will get to it when there’s time.» They would complain about being «exhausted» and «tired» and tell me that they had too much going on to help their tenants. Our apartment was $ 5,700 a month.
I wholeheartedly cannot recommend them to anyone and I would tell anyone looking for an apartment to avoid using them or living in one of their buildings– they don’t repair or handle maintenance requests, they’re untimely, and extremely disrespectful.
Boston Property Services has to be the worst realty business I’ve worked with. I encourage you to go somewhere else.

**UPDATE: 3 WEEKS LATER***
I was recently asked by one of the employees to remove my review because, and I quote «a lot has changed since I moved out.» I couldn’t believe that they had the audacity to ask me to remove a review from Unilocal.I never post reviews, and I only posted this one due to the poor service they offered, so as to help out fellow students as well as anyone else looking for brokers. A quick thought: Why in the world would you change after I left? and if so, why would that be a means to remove my review? I still wasn’t helped and all that is written below still did occur.
If you have a desire to be absolutely stressed, and be dealt with like a child, go to BPS, if not, STAY AWAY!

hands down the worst service I’ve ever had to deal with. As a student, there isn’t much that I really cared about, and I wasn’t really picky, but the service we got here was horrendous. Unilocal wont let me put lower than 1 star… so lucky for them.
For starters, the washing machine was horrible, and the dryer just tumbled clothes but never dried them, so I could never wash my clothes in those units. I had to walk across the street to an apartment building and pay per wash there, and then drag all my clothes back home, which was horrible in the winter, or when it rained. I asked about this and all they did was tell me the unit was functional and never offered a practical fix.
The pipes crashed and made funny noises daily, and at night it would be loud enough to wake me, which was horrible seeing as I needed to sleep well for exam days and long study days ahead. I sent numerous emails and videos of these pipes and after several weeks they replied and told me that they would look into it, but never did.
During the winter, one of the pipes burst, and when we came back from break, we noticed that the kitchen was flooded. The solution here was to paint the wall, they didnt seal anything, just closed off the leak but never fixed that pipe.
with all these problems, one would think that the realtor must be super busy, and probably was pretty far away from us, but Dave, the owner of BPS, lived in the house next door to us.
He only emailed or called for monetary issues, which mainly lied on other roommates. I was absolutely disgusted by the horrendous service I was offered by BPS, and I would advise anyone out there to:
GO TO ANY OTHER REALTOR, TRUST ME ON THIS, YOU WILL REGRET SIGNING ANYTHING WITH BPS!!!

After I had signed a lease Boston Property Services acquired my apartment and it was the best thing that could have happened (the apartment owner we signed with ended up being pretty shady so BPS really saved us)
Dave managed the apartment very well, he was always professional and quick to respond. He would always let us know when someone was coming over to make repairs or show the apartment.

Best broker service ever, and I’ve dealt with many services. Very efficient and listened to my needs and found me my dream flat in less than a day. Highly recommend.
Al is particularly awesome. He was very receptive to me contacting him.

I have no personal experience in dealing with Boston Property Services, but they stepped up to the plate at the prompting of a neighbor of mine and worked with her to improve the landscaping (at their expense) at 5 Ayr Rd. in Brighton (David Hassman at Boston Property Services was the key enabler). We need more property management companies like this in Boston, who will (along with reasonable property owners whom they serve) be responsive if given a friendly nudge in the right direction.

They manage my building and have always done what they say they’re going to. Responsive and they take online payments– which is clutch.

Dave Hassman and Marc Meeks were extremley helpful when it came to listing and selling multiple investment properties in both the Mission Hill and South End areas of Boston MA. The combination of their local contacts, market knowledge, and real estate sales experience, helped make each transaction very smooth. They did everything possible to make both parties happy with the deal, and I couldn’t have asked for someone more responsive or on top of things than Dave Hassman. I see myslef continuing to work with Dave for years to come and would highly reccomend them both when buying or selling property in the Boston area.

James was an awesome realtor and found us a great apartment within out price rage very quickly. Mark however was a different story. He was our «realtor» yet only met with us once and was extremely nasty and rude. The only other contact I have had with him were a few phone calls where he was literally so rude I hung up the phone in tears.
If you use James or his brother (I can’t remember his name, but he helped us a lot too) then Boston Property Services is a great realty service! However, I am going to have to suggest that you do not use their services, only to avoid being abused by Mark.
