Boston’s Baddest Burger & Sandwich Co

Underwhelming.
Overpriced.
A next-​door cafeteria renovation brought this truck near to where I work… I heard good things from folks in various offices and decided to give it a go. After a longish wait I walked away with an overcooked, undertopped and lonely little burger.
Not *terrible*, mind you — just not the best you can do if you’re hitting up the Boston Food Truck scene especially at these prices!

My sandwich from the food truck (parked at Copley Square North) was so disappointing, I felt compelled to sign up for Unilocal to review.
Ordered the Tuna if by Sea with provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles – simple enough. Owner (or the guy who took my order) was friendly, and I was feeling good about ordering from Boston’s Baddest instead of the waiting in the long-​stretching line for Chicken & Rice Guys.
Wait took a bit longer than I’d expect for a food truck, but no biggie. Get back to my desk and I notice the sandwich was sloppily put together and the tuna salad was flavorless. (I think just tuna and mayo.) A bummer, but not the end of the world, I try to remedy with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Then I realize that instead of tomatoes, my sandwich has onions. Double-​check my receipt. Yep, I ordered correctly. The only star on the sandwich was the fresh, chewy ciabatta from Iggy’s.
For $ 8.51, I feel ripped off.
And at 8.5 months pregnant, I’m annoyed I trekked away from my desk to this food truck for such a crummy sandwich.

Great burger overall. I got the Baddest Burger (Double Cheeseburger)
Pros:
Coke freestyle machine.
Quality ingredients
Tons of variety in topping and sauce selection
Friendly and helpful staff
Flaws:
Buns were mediocre. They need to be a little thicker.
They need to raise the bar, so your legs can fit under it when sitting.
I would definitely be back.

I got the pastrami sandwich which came to $ 8.50. It was A-​Ok but nothing spectacular.
The Deal:
Pick a sandwich, burger or hot dog. You can choose up to 3 extras (pickles, onions, lettuce, hots, etc), 1 cheese (cheddar, provolone, jack and I think American), and 3 sauces (mayo, mustard, garlic aioli, etc) for free.
There are no combo deals. Fries are $ 3.50 and Cape Cod Potato chips cost $ 1.50.
The pros:
Iggy’s ciabatta bread: soft, chewy, etc (duh, it’s Iggy’s after all).
Meat tasted fresh.
The cons:
It tasted greasy. The mayo was layered on thickly which detracted from the meat.
I ordered onions and pickles with my sandwich. Neither was well represented.
For the price, I wanted more meat. Layer in on home boys. Maybe I was spoiled living in NYC, but pastrami sandwiches should showcase the meat first and foremost. If I bite into the sandwich and I taste just a whole lot of mayo and bread, something went wrong.
Ultimately, Baddest is passing but if they want to break the three star barrier, I suggest either lowering the prices by a dollar, or adding more meat. Another way to satisfy patron cravings is allow for combo meals (save a dollar if you add fries or chips to a meal), or coming up with more innovative sandwich/​burger options.

Saw them on Phantom Gourmet So I thought I’d give them a try. I ordered the grilled chicken with peppers, mushrooms, Cheddar cheese and garlic aioli on broiche bread. The chicken is Too dry and salty for my taste. I’ll try something else next time.

Meh. Got the Bad Dog: hardly any toppings (maybe a teaspoon of each) and they put them on the bun not the dog so you had to eat the bread to get the toppings. The menu said 3 free toppings and 3 free sauces. We got 3 toppings and were charged for one and 2 sauces and were charged for one. I know it’s Boston, but fifty cents for mustard on a hot dog? The Nathan’s dog was good but not hot all the way through and they were not busy enough to be rushed. Only okay.

Amazing food truck, one of my new favorites for sure. Their burgers are incredible as are their deli sandwiches. Also, their toppings are out of control, pecan and jalapeño bacon? Yes Please!
Also on another note Kevin, the owner, is the man. Hard working with an awesome story to tell. Watch him in his coming ventures, He is going to be a big deal in Boston.

I’m not a huge burger person, so I had a bangin’ tuna sandwich. It was really, really good, and so big that I was full with only half of it. My heart wants that other half, but my stomach isn’t allowing it.

Tried the classic bacon cheeseburger at the food truck bash in RI. The burger was good but not quite worth the price and had a bit too much mustard and ketchup. No pickles is a major no go for me. They said they had a limited menu for the event that day, which is fine, but pickles are a basic condiment on a hamburger. If you usually have them, why would you take them off for this? I just don’t get the logic

So I gave this manly-​epic-​looking «baddest burger» food truck a go when they came to Providence for the RI Food Truck Bash.
Needless to say I expected something along the lines of «Epic Meal Time» portions. If you don’t know what that is, you should stop reading this right now and search for it on youtube. Then come back to this review.
I fully expected dripping grease, oil, fat, and cheesy heart attack goodness that was teetering on the edge of gross overkill. But was pleasantly surprised it was actually a really sizable burger. And NOT heavily doused in a schmorgesborg of sauces, salt and lard.
We ordered the Bacon and Cheadahh Burgah (aka: fancy baconator). We got our two orders pretty quick, which in the back of my mind had me a bit worried since– I like my meat well-​done… and the quickness had me slightly worried I might be ingesting something that is not quite safe-​per-​se.
But I was super impressed. This little burger cut like butter and the bacon and chabot cheese packed in all the flavor within the lightly seasoned burger meat. It was fatty and delicious. But I’m not gonna lie I was almost searching for some fries after that. It just felt lack-​luster without some fries to seal the deal. Which luckily I grabbed from another food truck at the event. Not so lucky if I had ordered off the street.
Although I had one burger, that one burger had me at hello. Not too shabby Boston.

Disappointing. Burgers weren’t very good. No fries?!! Too bad. Doesn’t live up to the name. Or maybe it does if you’re taking it literally.

Huge menu for a food truck. Makes ordering difficult, but also makes ordering highly customizable. You can put up to 3 toppings on you order at no cost.
Had a hot dog with aioli sauce, bacon, and one other topping I can’t recall. Took a while to cook, which is a concern for the lunch time food truck crowd.
But, the staff is friendly and willing to go above & beyond to accommodate your request.
I do not recall seeing a vegetarian option, though this truck might have an option for vegetarians.

This food truck seems to have a pretty good selection, even though I only went with a small hot dog. I like that you can select three toppings and three sauces for a burger, and I’m assuming you could pay extra for more. The hot dogs only come with one topping (plus three sauces), but that’s fine because it’s harder to get things to stay on a hot dog. I went with just bacon and garlic aioli, though if I returned I’d probably see about adding some Grillo’s pickles as well. It was a good hot dog, though those are hard to mess up. A good choice for lunch or dinner if the truck happens to be in your area.

Oh woe is the burger that doesn’t live up,
to the tasty sensations of meat, cheese, and bread.
The saltiness first bite overwhelmed my desires,
to give a second try and make it worthwhile.
For 8.23 I had hoped for something to treasure,
but unfortunately it sat unhappily with some displeasure.
The looks of the burger most certainly conspired,
to please my eyeballs but not my taste buds of desire.
But the breakfast menu looks promising,
perhaps I’ll give it a go, who knows what I’ll find
besides salty burgers to go!

Taste — ⁴⁄₅; it was pretty good
Presentation — ²⁄₅; see those pics of sandwiches piled high? Read the menu of sandwiches «piled high»? My sandwich was not piled high.
Cost — ¹⁄₅; it was a grilled chicken sandwich from a food truck, and it did not have outrageous items on it (e.g., truffles)…not worth $ 8.
Waitime (critical for foodtrucks) — ⁰⁄₅; had to wait about 20 minutes between ordering and cooking. They’ve gotta get more efficient at this. There was another sandwich food truck there that was processing customers twice as fast… BBB has to get better at this. Go and visit the Clover trucks to check out the systems they’re using, then purchase or imitate that system.

I had a Hub burger with the usual fixings and it was very good. Everything held together well, it had a good amount of juiciness without being a big mess. The meat was nicely seasoned and cooked well.
The one thing I was puzzled by was the strawberry shortcake. It was a biscuit drowned in macerated strawberries and runny whip cream. I tried to dig through the mess to the biscuit but it was mush and not very nice. I wasn’t sure it this is how it was meant to be — did i just get one that had been sitting in the fridge?.. The berries and whip cream tasted nice but the whole thing was soup and mush. SSC should be freshly made, an unsweetened biscuit piled with fresh sliced strawberries and tons of fresh whipped cream. Should be the easiest dessert in the world to throw together n 15 seconds.
Second time I got a roast beef sandwich and specifically asked it the beef was nice and rare. I was assured it was, but no, alas it was well done. Annoyed to pay $ 7 for it and I thought the amount of filling was skimpy

Walked over to the Food Truck next to Copley today and grab a burger, got the Hub. The burger itself was a little disappointing. When I unwrapped it, it looked so delicious. Although it was good, it wasn’t my favorite.

Killer bee burger was delicioussss! I went with my friend and we were starving– to die for!
