Charlestown Ace Hardware

We love this hardware store. Just moved here and going to the hardware store at least once a day. The staff could not be more courteous or more helpful. There is absolutely no reason to go to a big box store. Usually, they have something better quality, but if the item is the same the price is about the same. Bought a nice grill, lots of LED bulbs, a big Rubbermaid garbage can, all good stuff. And the experience is always pleasant. PS — Dog loves their dog treats.

Love Ace hardware stores and this one is no exception. I love how convenient the parking is, right up to the door. The store has everything one is looking for. I was asked if I needed help finding something right away. Of course I did, a sales person came to rescue. I was looking for screws to put a wooden crate together. With his help I was done in five minutes. But I still went and browsed to see what else they have, which really was a lot! Must go back for their home items next time.

I love coming here. I recently moved onto a boat, about a 5 minute walk from this Charlestown location, and like moving into any new space there’s so many odds and ends that you need to attend to in order to get yourself situated.
I’ve been back and forth here a lot, they always ask you right away when you walk in the door if they can help you find something, which is great because they sell honestly everything you need when it comes to home improvement or even just day to day living keeping up with your space.
One story I have to say is that — I went to them on a pouring rainy day in December to get some paint to spruce up my new place. I bought 4 samples of paint (their samples are pretty decent in size and I’ve ended up just buying the samples to use but it depends on the size of your project). I bought the samples (they were very honest and helpful when it came to a second opinion regarding color choices), they were put in a cardboard box, I walked back to my home in the pouring rain, and because I live on a boat, and because it was raining, when I lifted the cardboard box to put on my boat the bottom of the box broke open and all of the paint I had just schlept back rolled off the dock and sunk in the ocean. Ugh I couldn’t help cry «Nooooooo!!» allowed in my dismay. They were unopened to all the environmentalists out there & I do feel bad — But! When I went back the next day to Ace and told the woman who owns the store what happened, at first, although sympathetic, she told me she couldn’t do anything about it which I agreed was understandable. I went next store to CVS as the paint was mixing and when I came back she had changed her mind and gave me all the new paint at no charge! I have to say it’s one of those instances where «it’s the little things that count» because I had a smile from ear to ear. She honestly made my day — and I’m going there right now for supplies to start a new project!

They do a good job here. Although one of the staffers (a British guy) is slightly rude, he’s actually really knowledgeable and gave good advice about which types of recessed lighting and paint brushes we should purchase. They also do key copies and have a variety of random products that make it useful one-​stop shopping. I’ll definitely go back.

Everyone who works at this Ace is very very friendly. It is nice to see a neighborhood place that has almost anything imaginable that you would need for a house or apartment. The owner, does commercials for his store, is a nice guy and knows everything about everything.

This place is so wonderful. It’s an old-​fashioned, customer focused, neighborhood hardware store. Let me explain why it’s so great, My husband headed to the store without his cell — which I realized after I attempted to reach him to pick up a few more items. I called the store, explained the situation, they found him and helped him get the right paint samples! In times past I’ve mentioned a few products I was looking for and the next time I came back they were sitting in a front display. This place is so receptive to needs — its wonderful having such a store right in our little community.
Only thing left we is someone who can change inter-​tubes on strollers in Ctown.
Otherwise Charlestown Ace has pretty much everything from Paint to Keys to random plumbing things to Mrs. Myers Products. Also, they are a great community partner which gives to many of the local charities — its businesses like these that help keep a community strong and growing. Thanks Ace!

I love hardware stores, and this one is excellent in all aspects. You will not be disappointed.

the process to buy my new paint color was arduous. They were always kind and patient, and I picked the most amazing Benjamin Moore color, Dorset gold. just beautiful. They really know their stuff here and you get much better service than at the big box stores, with comparable prices for the top of the line paint.

Good hours, good location, decent size and selection, very reasonable prices, really nice employees, parking lot in the middle of Charlestown, and free popcorn! What’s not to like?

This place is fantastic! They Re incredibly helpful, knowledgable and go above and beyond with customer service. I choose to buy things here sometimes that I could buy elsewhere more conveniently because the service and experience is better. It’s nice to have a place like this in Charlestown!

Any chain hardware store is going to meet my hardware needs. What sets this place apart from other Aces, like, say, the grim, sullen, unwelcoming Jamaica Plain Ace, is their ethos of customer service. Friendly accommodating staff and quick thorough service. The previous hardware store in this space closed (probably done in by a too close Home Depot, bleh) but I wish this one every success because they spread happiness.

They have anything a typical homeowner would need and more.
Wyatt is great and remembers me when I come in (by face, not name) and says hi and asks how the grill we purchased two years ago is doing.
Pet and kid friendly this store has made a difference in Charlestown. I can walk somewhere to get knives sharpened, small tools, tub caulk, paint (!!), and so much more. Makes all those little jobs around the house go so much easier and faster. I like to just browse because you never know what you’ll find.
Always friendly (opening the door for you!) having this Ace in Charlestown is such a gem.

I love coming into this Ace Hardware in Charlestown! They are just about the most friendly group of workers I have ever met. They allow dogs to come in, and they always give my pup a treat! This is great because when I am out walking my dog I can run into Ace to grab some things without having to tie up my beloved doggy.
My favorite thing they have is their Mrs. Meyers cleaning products! They smell so amazing and they have a huge selection. The past few times I have bought one of these products they gave me a little free sample of soap at the register!
To top off great customer service… they give out free popcorn… I almost died. Love it

I am so impressed with Charlestown Ace Hardware. It is run by a super-​helpful, super-​nice family who will go out of their way to find a solution to your hardware problem. The store is incredibly well-​stocked and well-​staffed. When you walk in the door, there has always been someone to ask me if I need help me finding something. Great prices as well. Wish all businesses were like Charlestown Ace Hardware!!!

My experience: I called the Charlestown Ace to ask whether they carried a specific $ 4 mildew spray. The owner and his assistant looked around the store, couldn’t find it, and apologized. After we hung up, they looked deeper into their inventory and actually called me back to let me know. When I went to the store later that day, the spray was waiting for me at the front counter.
That’s awesome service. Very impressive.

Excellent customer service… immediately. I’d use them even if they ignored me… a hardware store in walking distance… finally!

The people here are really, extremely, over-​the-​top helpful. Like wow. Great service, and I wasn’t expecting it at all. Every single worker I talked to was this way too. They even ordered something to be shipped in to their store that they didn’t normally stock just for me (not that I’ve gone back there to get it, mind you). So why the middle-​of-​the-​road rating? I don’t like/​need hardware stores often. So meh.
