An OK place when you want some variety and are shopping on Boylston St… clearly not a destination restaurant. The food is average; the restaurant is in a basement and the service is OK.

The red sangria is easily the best sangria I’ve ever had! We got a pitcher and everyone agreed it was absolutely delicious! The food was excellent too; I got the Grilled Salmon Steaks. The lemon fish was great too(I tried a bite). This place is a gem!

I work very close in proximity to Chili Duck, so my coworkers and I often grab lunch here. This restaurant has a «hole-in-the-wall» feel from the outside, but the inside is surprisingly spacious. However, it does get busy during lunch hours, especially toward the end of the week. The service is typical of most Asian restaurants: no nonsense and efficient, which suits me fine because I don’t have the longest lunch break. As for the food, I would say better than the average. I’ve had the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, chicken satay, and golden bags. All very tasty. Overall, they are not reinventing the wheel as far as Thai food, but if you are craving a nice plate of Pad Thai, this place will do just fine. And for the price and fast service, you really can’t beat it.

Love it here! Great Tom Kar Gai, pad Thai, drunken noodle. Takeout is just as good as dining in, and the price is really good. One of my favorite Thai spots.

Feels like the place is underrated. Their duck noodle soup is quite excellent. So is their Pad Thai. It gets busy during lunch. Their prices are reasonable for the area. The service was speedy considering how busy they were.

Food’s decent. My main complaint is the same as most asian restaurants for me. The way it goes is: Me: Make this super-spicy. Take what you think is spicy and make it even spicier. Make me think«wow, I’m eating lava» because that’s the only way I’ll taste the spice. Them: Ok(Thinking, ok, I’ll make white-guy spicy) Then voila! Not spicy! I ordered the spiciest dish on the menu(I’m told) and I didn’t even know they’d put any spice on it. the taste was decent, and the price for their lunches is good for the part of town they’re in, but I wanted spicy!

Good quality Thai food for average prices(cheap for the Back Bay though). Came here for lunch and got seated quickly. Our food came out relatively quickly as well. The scallion pancakes were fantastic and the crispy pad Thai was great. I’m glad there’s some decent Asian food in the Back Bay that isn’t ridiculously overpriced. Service was fast and formal. Would recommend for lunch or dinner. Even though I didn’t get fried ice cream here this time I had another time and it’s a definitely must have if you eat here.

I would give it a try, to eat in and not take out, if I was in the area but I would not go out of my way to go here. I got the winter shrimp rolls which would have tasted better if I had gotten home and eaten it less than a half hour after I ordered them. The rice dish I had with roast pork and crispy pork belly? Khan Moo dang. The white rice was the best part. The pork tasted like boneless spareribs without the glaze. The pork belly was not crispy by the time I got home but it was easier to chew then the tough, dry roast pork.

Ordered take out from Chilli Duck last night, and I was completely underwhelmed. The best thing about this restaurant is their customer service. Unfortunately, their food is sub par, and I will not be back. Crab Rangoons 1⁄5: I love me some crab rangoons, but these ones tasted like play-doh with very little filling. Of all the restaurants I’ve ordered crab rangoons, these were my least favorite. Tom Yum Soup 3⁄5: The Tom Yum soup didn’t taste bad, it just wasn’t great. It mostly just tasted like broth with some chicken at the bottom and some mushrooms at the top. Pad See Ew 1⁄5: Disgusting. This smelled like dung and had a sour taste to it. The beef was chewy and overcooked, as if it had been leftover for a week. I don’t recommend Chilli Duck. If you’re looking for Thai food nearby, your best bet is Thai Basil or, better yet, Phở Basil. If you’re looking for quick Thai delivery, give Rod Dee Thai 2 a try!

If this place has zero stars that’s what it would get!!! I ordered food the guy came and dropped it off I tipped him a few dollars not including the delivery charge that I also paid. Two minutes after I got the food I get a text from the drivers personal phone saying next time if I order I should learn how to tip and do pick up… INSANE! So I proceed to call the restaurant And instead of listening to me whoever was working proceeded to tell me I need to tip more and argue on the phone with me! WOOOOOOWDONOTORDERFROMTHISRESTAURANTEVERAGAIN!!!

Kind of hesitant to write this review, because Chilli Duck is my strange, awkward little secret I hope people don’t discover. Tucked away on busy Boylston street, adorned with ridiculous neon signage, it doesn’t inspire confidence. But when you give it a shot, it’s one the go-to solid Thai places downtown. Since nobody actually believes it’s going to be good, it’s usually very quiet. The food comes in fantastically big portions, and the prices are more than reasonable($ 14 for Seafood curry, with shrimps AND scallops?). The most amazing thing is how quick your food comes out. I swear they read your mind as you walk in and start preparing your order.

Surprised to see quite a few not so positive reviews. Decided to stop by mid afternoon around 4 pm so it wasn’t surprising that it was not packed. Around when we left(5 or so) it was getting busy so keep it in mind, but doubt there would be much wait. I ordered myself a thai iced tea because I love this drink, it was served in a big glass and had that signature neon orange color. This is a taste that takes awhile to enjoy as my friend did not like it.(First time trying it) It may have been sweeter than other ones I’ve tried but it wasn’t off putting at all and the ice melted in it during my meal anyways. Also got the spring roll appetizer, go for the vegetable as the shrimp barely had any shrimp to be found. However, it was very tasty and I loved the thick dipping sauce with ground peanuts on top. yum yum!!! Barely getting one bite into our appetizer, our chicken pad thai order had arrived! Very fast, Pad thai was a big portion and it was quite good. Had all the things I look for in a pad thai, a little sweet, sprouts, vegetables and those ground peanuts I love so much. Overall, would for sure come again if already in the area and craving thai. But due to having other extremely comparable Thai places near me, I won’t be making the trip out just to come here.

I’ve always passed by this restaurant when walking around Boston and wondered how it would be like. The location is super convenient — you get off at the 39 bus and it’s right there. It’s also located in the middle of everything. I’ll just get to the point and say that I really don’t like their pad see ew here. It doesn’t taste authentic and the broccoli was raw. It’s not suppose to be raw! The restaurant is also really inconsistent. I came here two times asking for the same thing — pad see ew with duck. The first time they incorporated the duck into the dish, which I enjoy because it makes the duck tastier and juicier. However, the second time I ordered it, the gave me duck on the side — unseasoned and super dry. I honestly couldn’t eat the dish along with the raw broccoli. I ended up eating all the appetizers. The appetizers are REALLY good! I LOVE scallion pancakes and they definitely have really good ones. The fried chicken is also really good. I highly recommend it. The reason why I am giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 stars(because it sounds like a 2-star review) is because I’ve only had pad see ew here. I’m sure their other dishes are good. I am willing to give this place another try because I am just in love with their appetizers. Not to mention, the waitresses and the hostess are really nice!!!

I just got take out from Chili Duck and it was pretty underwhelming, with all of the Thai options in Boston I definitely won’t be back. While it wasn’t offensive or terrible, it just seemed like everything I ordered was bland or too salty. I ordered the pad see ew which typically has a nice thick sweet sauce, but instead the sauce was just thin and salty. We also got the crispy chicken pad Thai and the chicken was just soggy. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt because it was delivered, but delivery can’t account for flavorless seaweed salad etc.

Im surprised by the reviews that this place is getting, it’s definitely far underrated! My boyfriend and I used to live around the area and used to come here all the time. Service is extremely efficient, the orders are taken quickly and food comes out fast too.(oh and it’s piping hot). I do believe that the prices are extremely decent especially for food around the area. I usually get the Tom yum seafood noodles or the seafood Pad Thai(both pretty delicious) for appetizers the calamari, golden bags and crab rangoons are all good choices!

The Tom Yum Noodle Soup is life altering deliciousness!!! Ordered the Tom Yum Noodle Soup, extra spicy, with roast pork. It’s so flavorful — absolute perfection. Also, the takeaway version was excellent— didn’t feel like anything was missing because I didn’t eat at the restaurant. I’d give it 5 stars, but the roast pork is only so-so. Next time may try the soup with something else.

So disappointing. I read reviews of places that could deliver to my hotel and went for Chilli Duck. Big mistake. I ordered the bean thread soup; I have a cold and soup sounded great. The broth was flavorful, but the described mushrooms were nowhere to be found. It was $ 5 for a cup of broth, glass noodles, and ground chicken. I went for the seafood fantasy; a bit more expensive than I’d have liked but figured for the price it might be good. I ordered takeout so knew the tempura might not be crispy; that I can forgive. I asked for a side of sweet chili sauce. What arrived was 2 mussels, 3 shrimp, and 2 scallops on top of warm broccoli, carrots, beans, and… Lettuce? There was sweet chili on the side, yeah, but no sauce on the veggies(the description boasted a peanut sauce) or the seafood. The majority of my bowl was warm, dry lettuce. Totally gross, guys. Don’t do it. Just don’t. Edit: I just saw that they advertise free delivery. Why did I pay a $ 4.99 delivery fee?

Holy portion sizes batman, Chili Duck is not shy about the servings. Walking out(rolling out?) feeling stuffed with my doggy bag full of a full next days meal all for under 15 bucks almost felt like stealing. Chilli Duck is right next to the Apple store and down a pair of stair. When you walk in the counter on your right seems almost abandoned mainly cuz there’s rarely a hostess there. While you wait a bit for her show up take a look around. It’s hard to gauge the actual size of the restaurant with all the mirrors, but it’s pretty decently sized and you can rest assured you won’t be elbow to elbow with any one else. Score. There was also a really big birthday party hanging out in the front of the restaurant that was(loudly) enjoying their table service, so i’m going to say they’re good for groups. The menu is FULL of Thai and Indonesian rice, noodle, and soup options and they’re prices jump anywhere from 10 $ pad thai’s to 15 $ rice dishes with seafood. I took my time browsing through, grabbed the sample appetizer platter, and then the man-friend and I decided to try both a pad thai and a rice dish. The Indonesian fried rice tasted like everything I wanted. Salty, a little sweet, kicked up with the added chili sauces on the table, and a beautiful yolky fried egg brought everything together in a can’t-stop-won’t-stop-delicious dish. The crispy pad thai featured thin crispy noodles that added a fun crunch to the extra peanuts and sat well with the crunchy duck. Appetizer platter was pretty forgettable though Unilocalers seem to love the treasure bag things of chicken and meat. They were ok but for 12 dollars to sample the bunch, I was pretty unimpressed. That being said, I don’t really ever fall in love with deep fried appetizers. Service was really nice and attentive. It was nice to get all the deliciousness of a decent priced meal so close to Newbury without any of the snooty service. Win win for chilli duck. Fun date game alert: This place has a bajllion different multi-colored duck artworks. Whoever spots the least covers the(hefty and well deserved) tip.
