Cityside Harbor Shuttle

Two friends were visiting from out of town to explore Boston, and coincidentally, a Google Offer for a mini harbor cruise ($ 15) went on sale that day. I thought it’d be a great way for them to see a bit of Boston from the harbor!
We snatched up three tickets, and walked from South Station to Atlantic Wharf, enjoying the views near the water. When we got to the port booth, the woman was very nice and accommodating. And the next boat was supposed to go out in only 10 minutes, which was perfect!
On the boat, the views were amazing! The sun was shining, the water was calm, and the day was perfect for pictures! Captain Joe gave us tidbits of historical information alone the way. Of course, it did help that the only other passengers were a very nice family from Connecticut with two adorable children!
Overall, we had a great time that afternoon! I’m not sure if I would’ve bought tickets had there not been a deal (or read the Unilocal reviews beforehand), but I am glad that there were no hiccups!

I recently took the shuttle as a birthday adventure. Adventure is right! There were many hiccups throughout the night including, but not limited to stalling in the middle of the Harbor. It appears you make a call to a main number and they confirm a time they will arrive. Don’t take that time seriously each time we boarded the shuttle it was approximately 20 – 30 minutes after the agreed upon time.
Anyway due to the many hiccups several people attempted to open a discussion of «how do you make this better». Captain Don did not respond well. It became obvious he was looking to defend himself as opposed to redeem himself. The leader of our group was in contact with «Captain Don» within a few days of the excursion. After phone tag he responded with an aggressive tone yelling at how people don’t understand how it is to run a business and it’s not easy. Our fearless leader was calm throughout the phone call, but it needed to be ended abruptly due to the rude nature.
There are some positives to this business and when they get their act together I am sure it will be a wonderful addition to the waterfront, but until then, I would hold off. I personally will not be using this service again as no one deserves to be treated the way some of my friends were.

We had a repeat of everything that is described in the previous review — boats very late in arriving, owner non-​responsive to phone calls, no apologies for any of what went wrong, etc.
In addition, when we were finally on the boat, it was overloaded and deep in the water. The boat broke down in the middle of the harbor and we drifted for 45 minutes without any communication from Captain Don who was our driver. Even worse, he turned off the lights and actually denied it when we asked why we were floating in the middle of the harbor in pitch black and only turned the lights on when pressed. No apologies or reimbursement where ever made. When we asked for contact information after finally getting to shore, we were told by the second boat driver that she didn’t know Don’s last name and avoided giving us real contact information.
This wasn’t just a bad day for this company — Captain Don did not make safety a priority.
