Conor Larkins Grill & Tap

I had a very disappointing experience at Conor’s on Halloween. Despite the fact that I have drank and ate at Conor’s several times, the bouncer refused to accept my real, Connecticut driver’s license. He said it «looks fake,» and wouldn’t reason with me even when I showed him two additional IDs with my picture and birthday.
Let me call the CT DMV and tell them to stop making pink and blue driver’s licenses because a paranoid bouncer can’t tell the difference between a real and a fake ID.
Maybe this guy was just having a bad night… I’m sure working on Halloween sucks, but he really made me think twice about going back. I’m not trying to feel like I’m being interrogated by TSA when I just want to grab a few beers with some friends.

For the last dozen years, throughout college and after, my friends and I have always enjoyed coming here as it has had better food than your typical college bar.
Fast forward to this past weekend when we had friends in town and wanted to show them our old stomping grounds. We ordered our old standby, our raved about Buffalo Chicken Nachos. When we got them and started eating them we noticed instead of using tortilla chips the nachos were made with COOLER RANCH AND NACHO CHEESE DORITOS. WHAT???
The whole point of buffchixnach is to taste the buffalo — why are they replacing tortilla chips with other random flavors? DORITOS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE USED IN NACHOS. Not to mention NOWHERE ON THE MENU does it say the nachos are made with DORITOS. This is so weird and such a huge disappointment. When we asked the waitress she did not apologize or offer to make them with regular nacho chips for us — THANKS CONORS for messing up the one thing you did really well…

Love/​hate relationship=much better than Punter’s down the street, but still with serious detractions.
Beer is limited but adequate, very limited liquor offerings. Food is iffy, doritos nachos and chicken tenders are the best options, but forgettable food at best.
Service is slooooow, but this is the local college bar so it’s often packed. There is decent space and it can have a good vibe. Prices aren’t bad and the tbs usually have whatever game you want to watch.

Right across Huntington Avenue from Northeastern University, Conor Larkins is a «go to» bar for students, faculty, and staff at the University. They have a decent selection of beer and they have liquor, albeit a limited selection due to some licensing challenges caused by the City. What makes Conors stand out compared to other bars in the immediate area is the good food. Boneless wings are great, burgers are great, and the french fries are pretty good, too. It’s a decent place to go whether it’s for lunch, dinner, or drinks at 11 PM. For Boston, the place is also very reasonably priced and they usually have the local sports on the televisions. The décor here is typical pub décor with wooden tables and random stuff all over the walls.

Pool, check! Reasonably priced beer, check! Big Buck Hunt, check! Good rowdy college crowd, check! Great spot for a night slugging them back.

While I have been here many MANY times over the past three years (and have a shirt to prove it), I’m not sure if the following review will be completely fair. If Roger Ebert had blacked out halfway through every movie he reviewed, he probably wouldn’t have had that much credibility either. The food is so-​so; there are stand-​outs like the improved Buffalo Chicken Nachos that now come with Cool Ranch Doritos, but there are also a lot of bummers like the the over-​salted Fried Pickles. The bar also doesn’t have a complete liquor license, so the bartenders can only serve flavored liquor (my drunkard of a father was enraged by this little tidbit when he visited). Other than that, this college bar has the typical amenities: sports memorabilia cover the walls, televisions for the ol’ «sports-​watching», Big Buck Hunter (I know the man that is the legend who currently has the highest score), a pool table, a decent amount of board games and cards, Golden Tee Golf and a highly underutilized N64 near the front of the bar.
What makes this bar great is hard to define but I guess a lazy yet competent answer is the ambience. Conor’s (as we Huskies colloquially call it) is a bar that is much more than the sum of its parts. Barring a few off nights here and there, I can nearly always expect to have an awesome time with my friends, whether it’s just shooting the shit, getting some dinner, playing some bingo, or alcohol-​boarding my face with some Conor’s Amber. There’s a reason Conor’s can get a line at noon and Our House East (the other college dive bar in the area) hasn’t seen one before 1 am.

I spent a lot of time here after class back in the day largely due to the proximity to campus. The place is pretty small inside and can get crowded, but it’s always a friendly atmosphere and service is pretty decent for the price.
The food is what you’d expect — typical bar food without a ton of variety, but it gets the job done.
I didn’t like that glasses were plastic — I thought that was a bit cheesy — but this is a college spot where glass all over the floor is probably a worse scenario.

Woohoo! Went here after leaving a bummer experience at nearby Wally’s.
Casual atmosphere. Lights were on so you could see each other and the plethora of BOARD GAMES available. Mario Kart was happening in the corner. Lots of 20 somethings varying from college to grad students in a seemingly clean, safe, cheerful, positive environment where you could very comfortably see and hear your company.
It happened to not be super crowded, so it made the perfect evening. Would absolutely go back.

I recently graduated, and I can’t even describe how much I will miss this place… somewhere between the $ 10 pitchers (!!!) of beer and the buffalo style nachos, this place stole my heart. Sometimes it smelled, but I think air fresheners were installed because it got a lot better later in the semester. Overall would recommend.

College area bar with cheap drinks and fairly priced food.
I had the steak tips with a salad appetizer that was served with French fries. It was delicious for a mid day brunch. However this is an enclosed bar in the underground of a building so no outside seating.
All the tables are wooden. Their are plenty of TVs to watch almost any game. I recommend it.

Everything in my last review + 1 star for the food which is surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because it’s a college bar, and you don’t expect a lot.
The nachos are made with Doritos. Who doesn’t like that? Why didn’t I think of that for when I make nachos at home?

So I’ve been attending Northeastern for almost four years now, and last night was my first time going to Conor’s. This is crazy, because it even got onto a Thrillist list for 20 best college bars or something. Everyone I know has gone here accept me.
I met a friend there after work. It’s a much better and cleaner atmosphere than I expected. I thought it would be sticky and dark, but instead, I walk in and see people sipping on beers while working on laptops, and other groups eating sandwiches and fries. I’m so surprised this is a real place!
I expected to give this place one or two stars, and it probably would have gotten four if the service wasn’t so slow. It took about 30 minutes for the whole check process, which would be annoying if I needed to be somewhere.
Overall, the prices are reasonable, it wasn’t bad during the day, and I would definitely go back again. A lot better than expected!

I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism demonstrated at this bar.
I went to Northeastern so this place was my go to bar all through college and even post graduation. My friends and I have spent a ridiculous amount of money here over the years. Honestly, I loved this place, which is why I continued to go after graduation.
My friends and I were told to leave the bar because a girl we were friends with in college no longer is dating one of the bartenders. The bartender started yelling at us to leave for no reason. The best part was that his two roommates were the «bouncers» and explained that no reason is needed for him to kick us out. If he didn’t want us there, we must go. To me this is the most immature way a professional can act. Especially from a group of people who give the bar a bunch of business.
I hope that the owner realizes this lack of professionalism and adjusts accordingly. It would be sad to never go there again, especially since it sponsors the SBS league my friends and I participate in.

OK college bar. Good music but people like to sit down and talk rather than dance, which is a lost opportunity since not all of the tables/​booths were being used on what should’ve been a busy Saturday night. Went here for late night drinks and it wasn’t too crowded. The bartenders were nice but the drinks were pretty weak… mostly ice. I was shocked to find 100s fruit flies (some dead and some alive) in the women’s restroom. It covered every few inches of the space and considering that it’s winter, most should already be dead by now. I added a picture for reference. obviously an infestation.

When it comes to dive bars in Boston, I usually look no further than Connor Larkins. A while back my sister introduced me to Connors while she was in school and it has easily become one of my favorite places to pull up a seat by the bar and enjoy a nice cold beer.
For a local college dive bar, I’ve always been impressed with the beer selection and prices here. They always seem to rotate in and keep a pretty good selection of different craft beers on draft (for example: Lagunitas, Sierra Navada, Goose Island) and also have a fair amount of bottles and cans to choose from as well (like Dale’s Pale, Gansett and Allagash to name a few). I’ve also noticed that they change up their drink specials on a regular basis and offer different pitcher and shot specials as well.
In the times I’ve been here, there is usually a pretty good amount of people grabbing drinks and food. Obviously when Northeastern is in session the bar can get pretty crowded since this is a popular spot for students (especially at night), so be prepared for a wait to get in /​at the bar trying to grab a drink.
Connors doesn’t try to be anything more than what it is and that is why I love coming here for a couple of beers and to avoid paying crazy bar prices like other places in Boston. The atmosphere is fun and a great place to meet up with friends for drinks and even a bite to eat. Next time I’m in Boston, I certainly know where I’ll be heading to.

I’ve spent many week nights after class or meetings hanging out with fellow Northeastern students here. The pitchers are around $ 10, which is usually the reason we make our way to Conors. The burgers and nachos always come in big portions and won’t disappoint.
Just a heads up: if you’re planning on going, make sure you try to get in before 9pm. Otherwise, you may have to wait in a line outside.

This is your typical college dive bar, not exactly the place to take your family or a date. That being said, this place is usually pretty fun and definitely worth the visit if you are a student at Northeastern.
The beer is pretty well priced, you can get a pitcher for between $ 10 to about $ 20 depending on the beer you get. Budlight is usually 10, as is Connors beer, their own brew which isn’t that bad. The food here is pretty good as well, the burgers are good and the Buffalo chicken nachos are delicious. The nachos are a kind of big so definitely split those if you get them.
The atmosphere is a fun one. They have board games, and TVs all over the place so it’s fun to go watch a game or just spend a tuesday night there with your friends. The waitresses and bartenders are nice people. The Bouncers are a little strict when it comes to capacity so you will often times find a long line outside even around 9 or 10.
Biggest downside is that it is kind of dirty. The place is not kept so well and the bathrooms are pretty bad, it is what you would expect from a dive bar. Definitely a fun place for college students to meet your friends and hang out.

This is college bar, specifically Northeastern, so if you don’t want to run into college students then this is not the place for you. Having said that, even if you’re not a Northeastern student I’m sure you would enjoy it here. They have a pool table, waitresses, and a solid bar. There are $ 10 pitchers of rolling rock and bud select, and $ 12 pitchers of Budweiser. There are usually a few other pitcher and drink deals going on as well. The food is really good; the nachos are solid and the burgers are a good size too. You can also get tater tots as a side. It’s a fun bar to hang out in and a good place to talk with a lot of cool people.

Conor’s is your typical dirty, college, sports bar.
The beers are cheap. They always have a version of some $ 3 tall boy, and some $ 3 special shot.
I like to come here to watch the games, because its full of people who ALSO want to watch the games. They have pool, deer hunter, and beer pong tournaments.
The food is tasty, surprisingly!
Tuesday night Bingo, they’ll play until 5 or 6 different people have won Bingo, receiving a $ 10 gift card each.
It closes at 1 am, so last call is around 12:30, too early for me.

Enjoy this place for what it is — a better version of a frat party. I go here with my softball team after games on Sundays and it serves as the perfect end to a weekend. Very friendly staff, good deals (we get buy 2, get 1 free on apps and always dig in), cheap pitchers of beer, and beer pong to help us get even more social.
The spirit here is just really friendly, and it’s the kind of basement bar that makes you happy about being a young person in Boston. Live it up (and put my name down for some pong!).
