I met a friend at Cosi for lunch before catching a flight. The food was decent quality. I had the chicken and brie sandwich on whole wheat flat bread. The honey mustard paired well the brie, and I would recommend ordering this as a good lunch item. The service was a mess. They have different points to order different items, but they are not labeled well, or organized with any apparent logic. I asked for the Bahn Mi, and was told they were out. I ordered the brie sandwich and was told to order further down. I did, and then watched the next person order a Bahn Mi. Apparently they weren’t out. Decent food, but the organization was terrible.

The staff is awesome, always super friendly and personable! Also, they have FREE coffee on Wednesdays! I haven’t tried their lunch options but breakfast is usually on point.

Really disappointed with Cosi’s level of service. I ordered for a group of 7 with no problem. I called back just one day later to add a single sandwich, and no one could seem to find any record of my order. Disgruntled and hoping I would not get charged twice, I placed my order again. When the meeting for which these sandwiches were ordered for was cancelled, I called Cosi two days in advance to cancel the order. Once again, no one could seem to find any record of my order but took my information and assured me they would track it down and cancel it. Lo and behold, the order was never cancelled and was delivered. When it was delivered we explained the situation to them and they told us the sandwiches would be returned and we would not be charged. Not surprisingly, we were charged for the cancelled order. I was able to get a refund but the whole ordeal was so unprofessional and frustrating. Moral of the story… Do not order catering from Cosi because they will mess something up.

This staff at this location?! AMAZING. The main reason I give this place five stars! Every single time I visit I am greeted genuinely with happiness, helpfulness and the staff go out of their way to make me smile. The food is fresh, delicious and healthy! But even better, the lines move fast so you don’t have to wait too long for your food. Loving this place!

I usually don’t write reviews about chain restaurants like Cosi, but I was so impressed with the service at their State St. location that I felt like I had to! The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help me. I ordered oatmeal for breakfast and the women who gave it to me noticed the strawberries were running low at the oatmeal bar toppings station and immediately went back to wash and cut more. I went back later to grab a snack and that same woman was there, 6 hours later, still just as friendly as she was earlier in the day.

Got a salad here and it was nothing special. They have a salad bar with a menu you can chose from. I decided to make my own salad because I didn’t like any of the options. They did not really have that much to chose from. It looked like a lot more then there really was. Salad was pretty big though. The women was extremely rude though. She was so pushy and would not let me decide what I wanted. It wasn’t even busy! She assumed I was done and said«any dressing?» I was still picking what I wanted and she just rolled her eyes at me the whole time. Not good service. Will not be back anytime soon.

Been working on State Street for about 7 – 8 years now, and somehow never been to this place. I was walking by during lunchtime and wanted to have soup, so decided to try it out. The place was packed, but the lines moved fast. The soup was the best. Chicken noodle, and have to say… beats every other place I have tried in the area. The bread? Heavenly! I was in and out in minutes. I will definitely be back and will try out the rest of the menu.

I love this Cosi. The staff and store manager are great. They always ask how I am doing and actually remember my name. The store manager, especially, has great customer service skills. It is very refreshing to eat at a place that treats you so well. I highly recommend it!

Came in today after recently analyzing the company’s financial performance and strategic positioning. They’re not doing so well, financially, and I was curious if there was anything at the store level that’s causing them financial grief. Store layout is a little confusing, but they’re challenging the traditional model, which I admire. The way it’s laid out optimizes speed of service, which is great during the lunch rush. I ordered a Turkey and Brie flatbread, which comes with a spicy brown mustard spread. I added lettuce and tomatoes to it. The sandwich was fantastic! The Brie gave the sandwich a little bit of a buttery sweet taste, while the spicy mustard was sweet and tangy. Both flavors with the thick turkey chunks was fantastic. Put it together with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and the crisp flatbread… it’s a fantastic sandwich. Definitely left me feeling satisfied and full. The order total for the sandwich, chips and a small fountain drink came out to $ 10 which is a little pricey… But seems to be the average price for lunch in the financial district and back bay for working types. The restaurant is clean, and filled with staff who are eager to help. I think the only operational improvement I would suggest is implementing some system to quickly explain where and how people should go through the lines or navigate their way to different stations. Help keep this chain open! The food is great, and I hate to see them disappear.

Cosi, you’ve never failed me before. But I have to knock you down a peg today. I love your food, I love the bread, sandwiches, soups and your salads most of all. I’ve eaten at Cosis all over town multiple times, and State Street most of all. But someone forgot to wash the salad greens today. I got a Smart Fit, brought it back to my office and each bite left gritty dirt between my teeth. Hey, veggies grow in dirt, it happens. But then I inspected my lettuce and found energetic little green aphids waving their legs at me. Bugs. Live bugs in my $ 9 salad. All of my co-workers are encouraging me to go back and make a formal complaint, but I’m non-confrontational and the evidence of my ruined meal has already been thrown away. It’s a simple mistake and I know you can do better, but I think I need to take a break from you for a while…

I ordered catering from this place and they seriously overcharged us even though their own quote stated a much lower price. They did the right thing and refunded us, but I was still shocked that I could reiterate over and over again to the caterer that I didn’t want to spend over«x» dollars, and then get charged nearly 100 dollars more than expected.

Well… It’s in an office building and primarily serves the business professionals there. As a result of reduced operating days/hours… Prices are high for what you get… While the salads and food is tasty… It’s overpriced. Expect long lines and just average food.

I am a recovering Cosi-a-holic. I literally was eating here at least 4 times a week– and the only reason it’s not 5 days is because once a week we have employee lunch at work). I’ve recently slowed down my Cosi visits only because my taste buds became bored with the monotony of chicken ceasar and cobb salads. I love that they have a rewards card that allows you to earn a free entrée, the staff is super friendly, service is efficient, and when I get meals catered, they’re always ready on time. I have yet to have a bad experience here. Love this place! THEONLYCON: They’re closed on the weekends, both downtown crossing and financial district locations.

What an improvement from last year. love all the new menu items. Service is at the top of the game. I come for breakfast every morning. they get FRESHFRUIT and the manager checks everything so nothing spoiled slips. The workers seem happier and more relaxed.

It pains me to leave this review because the first time I came here, the food was delicious. The second time… not so much. The line situation is very odd — there is no reason for three different lines when the food station is in one shared space. It’s too confusing. I was in line for the Taste Two, and I wasn’t sure if I should get into the salad line or the soup/sandwich line. The guy behind me wasn’t really sure what to do either and he ended up leaving. Anyways, I ordered a Taste Two which is supposed to come with a half salad, half sandwich, and soup. I don’t know if that particular menu item is never ordered here because the employees looked super confused when I mentioned it and pointed towards it on the overhead menu. Also, at the register, I was charged incorrectly(I was charged the full price for the sandwich and salad despite the fact that they were HALF servings so it was pretty expensive). There was a long line behind me, so I didn’t dispute it and paid. I was a little ticked though because it was $ 5 extra. I didn’t get to eat the sandwich until I got home, and guess what? It was missing two of the main ingredients(chicken and tomato… the sandwich is called a chicken, tomato, basil, and mozz sandwich so yeah). :( Oh well. I won’t be back, but the food was really good. So good.

ANUPDATE — Things are now back to normal and Cosi is again my number one favorite salad place on earth. I was there today and am in love with them again. Thanks so much!!! The Cosi Cobb Salad is one of the great food creations known to man. I mean, when you add piscachios and throw on a half extra ladel of light dressing, it’s beyond. And then there’s the bread. Descriptive words include awesome, omg, holy sh* & to die for. That being said… can Cosi please, please provide it’s regular patrons with fresher lettuce for their salads? I’m not sure what’s going on — if the lettuce is being left outside in the cold too long or what — but for last few weeks it’s been very wilty. Like, almost to the point of grossness. Everything else is fine as usual and the staff at the State Street location are friendly, work fast and get you on your way. However, for the money you pay for a Cosi salad, the lettuce should be very fresh. If they get that right, I’ll update this review with 5 stars. IF.

The salads are delicious. But not an economical lunch decision. For a salad and a drink you’ll pay $ 10 and some change. That’s fine every now and then, but I am a little too poor to become such a regular. With your salad you get some hot bread. It’s so tasty. I always get the grain, but you can get wheat as well. Also, bring a jacket with you — the a/c is PUMPING in this place always. So much so I can’t always stand to eat my lunch there.

Hear ye, hear ye: free samples of bread! And good bread. Savory Tuscan flatbread. In bowls right there on the counter when you walk in so you don’t feel weird about squeezing through a line of people just to get a sample. And they’re big samples! Holy cow. I bet a man could walk to all 4 or 5 locations and get a taste of each bread at each place and be full(maybe you’d want to top it off with a sample of something from Faneuil Hall, I don’t know). But that’s a free lunch right there! If you like bread, go here. If you don’t like bread, go back from whence you came, foul tempest.

I just love a great sandwich and Cosi has always satisfied my afternoon cravings. My favorites are their TBM and Melted Chicken TBM(tomato, Basil, Mozzarella) on wheat. On a hot summer day a lemon mojito quenches my thirst. I would give this place a 4 stars but this place is always packed which sometimes makes me running over to the one of Milk Street.
