Fascino Salon and Spa

After 9 years in NYC I moved back to Boston and was looking for a new brow place. Unilocal had great recommendations for this place near my office in the Financial District so I took a chance on a walk in appointment and Ghada had an opening. Fast forward 1.5 years and I’m still going to Ghada regularly.
Ghada is personality plus and does a great job threading my brows. I always leave looking and feeling my best. It’s not the cheapest brow thread around but I trust her implicitly to tell me what looks best and do a great job.
I trust her so much that I was willing to try my first bikini wax with her at the helm. I was nervous about the pain and the awkwardness but both are minimal. She’s all business, an expert at waxing and I’m now a regular bikini client too (i get brow and waxing done at the same time). A bikini wax is about $ 60 a pop and I go every 6 weeks or so. It takes about 15 minutes and I’m in and out.
The salon itself is clean, trendy and they send emails to confirm my appointment times. So glad to have found my brow/​wax place in Boston and happy to spread the word about how great Ghada is. :)

This Salon is all about customer service. The people who work here really go that extra effort to fit you in for appointments and give you the attention you need. I get my eyebrows done by Goda and have been going to her for years and she is amazing. Very passionate about what she does and really takes the time to listen if there is something specific your looking for. Over the years she truly has become a friend. Jack cuts/​color my hair is very talented. I’m very picky with my hair and probably a little hard to deal with when it comes to cutting my bangs. :) He is very patient and I like that if you shouldn’t do something he will tell so. Unlike other hair dressers that will just do as there asked. I also had a issue with my root growth coming back in record speeds and Jack really did all he could to try and fit me into his insane schedule. He gave me practical advice and a color schedule that would work for someone like me who has grays within less then a week. I’m really happy to have found such a great salon and would highly recommend to anyone!

I was visiting Boston for a week with my husband. We had business dinners and events. I googled and hit up Unilocal and decided this was the SALON for me.

I went to Salon Fascino to get a cut and color and had a wonderful experience! My stylist is Stacey, who never fails me, and gave me the best haircut ever! I love it. We also picked my color from an album of sample colors, and I have a lovely shade the suits my skin coloring. My hair is thick, and Stacey always manages to make it feel and look light.
My haircuts always grow in well till I’m ready to go back to the salon again. Can’t wait for my next appointment.

Stacy has done my hair (cut and color) for a dozen years and I would not trust anyone else to get the color as rich and varied, while keeping my hair healthy and strong. The skill of Stacy’s cut leaves my hair silky soft without losing length.

I have to agree with everyone else– Ghada is awesome! I told her that I had never gotten my eyebrows waxed or threaded because of fear of going too thin. she did a great job keeping them nice and thick but shaped just right. Yeah it’s more than I would like to pay but hey you get what you pay for!

What’s not to love about this salon? I use Unilocal a lot to check out salons and read reviews so I thought I’d drop a recommendation for all those fellow Unilocalers looking to find something worth their while.
The location is really convenient for those who work downtown or near government center. It’s such a relief to have some place that can get you in and out during the work day without raising suspicion in the office of your whereabouts! Jack is AH-​MAZING. You will feel like a brand new woman after he is done with you. The man has talent and is his ability to transform raggedy hair into soft luxurious beautiful locks is beyond anything I’ve ever seen before. If you are picky about your blonde hues, he is your stylist. He explains his thought/​timing process as he’s working so you’re not in the dark. I give him a hug after each appointment and happily tip him with everything I have in my wallet, that’s how giddy I am after he’s done his magic. You can’t put a price on blossoming confidence, people!
Then there’s my long-​time Bostonian-​cult-​fav eyebrow threadist Ghada. She is the reason why I found the salon in the first place. Like others, I followed her from Michelle International to Fascino because I couldn’t fathom letting anyone else touch my eyebrows. I think in the 5+ years that I’ve known her, I have only let two other places thread me and both times I walked away disappointed with the results and bad shaping jobs. Ghada is great! I have never walked out feeling like she went overboard or she didn’t do a perfect job at getting the shape down and my eyebrows tamed.
Beyond the talent, both Jack and Ghada have the right mix of professionalism and friendly warmth. I feel right at home and I feel comfortable and pampered. Jack is great in that he will give you recommendations and he will share his extensive wealth of knowledge about the latest and greatest products but I’ve never felt like I had to buy whatever we talked about. Sometimes, you have a closet full of products already and just aren’t in the market to try out another. I like that I get to talk shop without feeling compelled to pull the trigger at the cash register and he totally supports that choice by being so un-​pushy and telling you NOT to buy it until you need it. Very considerate! And all the stuff they sell is top line quality that you can’t find everywhere.
The receptionist is great too — Very friendly, helpful, and professional. She helps me calculate tip ratios and has a great attitude.
All in all, I think this place is better than any of the overhyped Newbury Street Salons. Fascino is real gem in the city. I always walk away feeling that I upped my beauty quotient while catching up with friends. With so many salon choices, this place has me coming back time and time again as it has never let me down.

I followed Gada where ever she goes. She moved to this Salon this year and I have been her customer since 2008. She is absolutely amazing. I do wax and eye brow and I always leave with very positive feeling and feel fabulous. She is fast and does not wast my time. She is also understands what I want precisely. Very nice person and I feel happy every time I see her.

I got my eyebrows threaded here by Ghada. She did a decent job, but it cost $ 20. Twenty. Dollars. She said she wanted to be «best of Boston,» but there’s just no excuse for something that takes 5 minutes to cost that much and she didn’t do anything different or special. There are other, cheaper threading options in Boston. I definitely won’t be back.
ETA: Thread & Shape in Harvard Square is $ 12 and did a better job.

Ghada is my secret family recipe to perfect eyebrows. My eye brows, my sister’s eyebrows, my sister’s friend’s eyebrows, et al have all benefitted from Ghada’s TLC. She is hands down the best threader in Boston and I will follow her wherever she goes. (She was previously at Michele International and now at Fascino.) I will never trust my eyebrows to anyone else.

Wherever the best in threading and other intricate forms of hair removal goes, I follow. Ghada, previously at Michelle International further in the Financial District, has moved to this trendy more conveniently located salon near Park St. Station and Government Center. Still providing the most thorough and professional hair removal in the city, this is where you need to book your appointment for the perfect eyebrow shape and a quick, painless waxing of those regions that we call private. Like so many others, I have been a loyal client of Ghada’s for almost two years now and she is the only person I recommend in the city for these extremely important tasks to my friends and family. I trusted her with shaping my eyebrows for my wedding (photos of myself that I will always remember) and although it took months before to fix my self-​shaping disaster, she has proven to me I can never do what she does because she IS the best.
Call and book in advance to get a convenient time/​day.

I have been going to Ghada for eyebrow threading for 5 years now! She just moved to this salon and of course I had to follow her, even better it’s right across from my office now! She is quick and attentive and I always leave there looking much better than I walked in!

I have followed Ghada from two other salons and I wouldn’t DREAM of letting anyone else touch my brows. She is the BEST, truly! Her threading is like artwork. I never think my brows look bad until I spend 5 minutes with Ghada. I look in the mirror when she’s worked her magic and instantly, I look 10 years younger!
Also, she is so lovely and warm. Amazingly, she always remembers our last conversation and we pick up right where we left off. Truly if you need a change or an eyebrow pick me up, go see Ghada, you will not be disappointed! Just don’t take my appointment… :-)

Went here for the first time yesterday. I called ahead to see if they were taking walk-​ins, front desk associate said yes. Jack, the manager, greeted me with a smile when I walked in.
Jack was friendly and gave me some excellent advice about some issues I’ve been having with my hair. The cut ending up being fantastic and he kept in me in the loop the entire time he was cutting it. He then washed it and applied the product that he had been telling me about during the cut. That experience alone took this to five stars. The level of professionalism, expertise, and friendly environment made this place great. I’ll be coming back.
The one downside was that I couldn’t offer Jack a tip on my credit card!

I started going to Fascino in order to follow my hair stylist, Jenn, who I’ve been seeing for almost two years (but started here in the late summer). She is phenomenal — so much so that I made a point to track her down. I usually get partial highlights and a cut/​blowout every two months or so and have yet to be disappointed. I like my highlights to be natural looking and she always does a great job with the color. I always leave refreshed and ready to go out — even if it’s noon on a Saturday — because she styles it so well, too. I now try to make a point to have fun plans post-​hair appointment since I know I’ll like the way I look. I am a no fuss hair person in my day-​to-​day life, and the cut/​color continues to look great even after Jenn’s styling has been washed away in the shower. Jenn also always shows up energetic and ready to go and she’s great to chat with, too.
Fascino seems like a great salon overall, too. Since starting there, I’ve also enjoyed a complimentary facial for being a new customer — glad I took advantage of that. They’re also good about providing coupons for your next appointments to drop the price a little. Fascino even had a party to celebrate their one-​year anniversary, complete with catwalk and photographer. So fun! It’s definitely a nice environment to walk into after a day at work.

Jenn cut and blow dried my hair and did a truly fantastic job! I’m weary of hair stylists, after too many have chopped inches off after promising «just an inch,» but Jenn promised to just cut an inch off my admittedly damaged hair, and she delivered on that promise.
Warm and personable, she took the time to consult and explain exactly what she was going to do, and why. She went above and beyond, giving me blow dry tips and tricks to get hair to grow longer and stronger. She recommended products and services for future consideration without being pushy, even coming up with a game plan to grow my hair longer and stronger in time.
Jenn’s blow out was as amazing and meticulous as her hair cut — I left wishing I had something better to do with my night after my appointment. My normally flat and thin hair was shiny and bouncy. I’ll be back in six weeks for another cut & blow dry, next time also trying color.
The salon itself is very nice and clean, and offers a good selection of products and extremely friendly and accommodating front desk members. Definitely worth checking out.

I had the pleasure of having my hair highlighted and blow dried by Jenn. She is extremely personable and I really appreciated how she sat me down and we discussed at length what style I was looking for. I had a full foil and she did the most fabulous job. One of my biggest pet peeves is when my hair is foiled, and it looks like it was dyed a month or two ago from how far the dye is from the roots. Jenn was meticulous with the foil placement, a bright blond, not chunky, and natural as if I had been out in the sun all summer. I’m beyond excited with how it looks.
I can see why clients would follow Jenn to a new salon. Not only is she talented, she never rushes through a client and gives the customer exactly what they had described. I most definitely will return.

I originally came here through a coupon and had such a good experience, decided to book another appointment. Unfortunately my stylist left before my 2^nd appointment, but they offered me a 20% discount to try out her replacement. I had another solid experience so booked again… but then AGAIN was given a new stylist… though I didn’t get a warning the second time (which I would have appreciated!!). I’m a little worried about the turnover rate at this place! What’s up with that?
Overall, each of the 3 stylists have given me good basic cuts, though the overall experience is average (not great). I’ve had cuts at the same price point that offer a better overall experience as a point of comparison. Another oddity to this place is that you CAN’T TIP ON A CREDIT CARD. I didn’t have any cash on me after one appointment and the receptionist actually suggested that I visit a nearby ATM and come back. What? Really?
At the end of the day, I’m not loyal to this place so I’ll be shopping around to find a stylist I can rely on.

Went here for a cut and blow dry after nearly a year of not cutting my hair due to long-​haired-​girl-​salon-​anxiety. My stylist, Fabrice was perfect. I’m an admittedly fussy client and I love my super long, frequently abused, hair. I don’t like big changes and almost never like my hair after it is cut. Fabrice spent a ton of time listening to what I wanted, she made suggestions, but ultimately listened to what I told her I wanted without me having to say it twice. Her attention to detail was impeccable, she even set my curls with pins after blow drying so my style would last longer and not fall flat as soon as I walked out the door (it’s three days later today and my blowout is still looking great!) I left the salon feeling bouncy and beautiful and got more than a few compliments on the new do’ from my boyfriend and people passing by on my walk to his apartment.
The place was very clean and modern, right in government center about 50 feet from the govt center train station. I’ll be back to this salon for sure.

This is my first and only Unilocal review. I feel so strongly about what just happened that I had to warn the Unilocal community.
I just left Fascino after the WORST waxing experience of my entire life.
After having gotten my haircut in the past I thought I’d go back for a Brazilian bikini wax when I saw a Gilt City Boston deal. To keep this short and to the point, I left in tears, with wax still on me and the process uncompleted.
The waxer seemed to have no idea what to do with the hard wax. She kept putting it on and couldn’t get it off except in small tiny brutally painful rips. After about 10 minutes of torture I started to cry, thought it was almost over and could wait it out. No way. It did not stop and I basically had to tell her to just leave it because I was in so much pain I couldn’t handle it.
I have been getting brazilian bikinin waxes for at least 3 years now and have never experienced anything like that in my life. When I left the room in tears, the woman at the front just said, «I feel bad». No offer to refund my money, or do anything about this horrible, HORRIBLE experience.
I will never visit this salon again.
