This used to be my go to place for Japanese and Korean cosmetics and I loved how Felicia took care of me. She always gave me some great samples and advice. I went to Japan for a semester, and while I could have bought the same products in Tokyo for cheaper than what she sells, I decided to wait until I come back to Boston to support her business. I really needed some new BB cream and when I asked her for one she brought out the same product, but half the size with the same original price. Why should I pay full price when I’m getting half the original size? I asked her if there was a mistake since I know the product I had been buying for a year and a half was bigger and a different color(still the same brand and everything). She said, «No, honey it’s always this one.» I was really shocked she could have lied to my face when I’ve been such a loyal customer. I’m really hoping she is just being forgetful or honestly thought that was the same sized product, but I don’t know how that would be possible either. It really didn’t sit well with me so I would suggest that if you go here, be sensible about your purchases. BB cream is not as hard to come by anymore with brands like Smashbox carrying them now.

Felicia and I share the same name, that was what initially brought me into her store almost four years ago. I was looking for products that would help me tame crazy breakouts and moisturize combo skin during rough New England winters. And now, even though I’m on the west coast, I continue to buy my can’t-live-without items. Dr. Ci Labo was unlike anything I’d tried before. My stick-with-it routine includes Super Washing Foam(a little goes a long way — even with vintage-styled crème foundations and eye makeup), Extreme Close-Up Brightening Lotion(vitamin C!), and Aqua Collagen Gel(In Felicia’s words«Pat. Pat. Pat.») She also carries M of the Face mud mask from Paul Cosmetics — a rare find in any city. Felicia is always very generous with her samples — which can help you narrow down products you want to try. Should you become a Felicia’s Cosmetics loyalist, Felicia will definitely look out for other products you might like and keep you posted if any of your favorite items are truly discontinued.

When Sephora stopped carrying the Decleor cream I used(And told me it was discontinued(lies) and they no longer make it(more lies!) and tried to sell me something else) I had to look elsewhere. Last year I noticed Felicia’s shop walking on Newbury and decided to check it out. Not only did Felicia inform me they still made the cream I use, but she specially ordered it for me because she did not have it on hand. Recently I went in when I ran out and she gave me some sample sized cream to hold me over until mine comes in. She carries a lot of natural high quality products(Ling, Jurlique, Decleor). I really think the difference between getting your skin products here and say a larger chain store(read:sephora) is the incredible customer service here. You get the feeling that Felicia really wants to help you out in choosing the right product for you, or finding something you want. She also is generous giving you samples and letting you try new products or lines without being pushy at all. I will continue to get my skincare products here, even when and if my go-to cream is discontinued.

Felicia’s Cosmetics is a great boutiques shop. The lines that are carried their a on the expensive side. But if you think of the money that you save by buying these products instead of going to a spa then it is totally worth it. First off you can try anything that Felicia has in stock. She will even give free facial to anyone that want to try what she is selling. If you have the time she will talk to you all day. lol She is such a lively talkative woman, and she doesn’t mind telling your what is in the products and what they do. She even give samples for you to take home if you are unsure of how a product will work. Felicia carries Ling a New York based line made for the Ling spa. The line uses Asian Herbs and modern western indigents. One of their most famous products in their Oxygen plasma potions. The idea behind it was developed by the US military to help burn victims oxygen plasma help heal damaged skin and cause a higher cell turn over. It ‘s really great for acne prone skin. Ling also makes the Rescue Skin Peel its a great skin peel that creates a static charge on the skin. It’s $ 65 the price of a facial at moderate spa, but with 5 star results. She also carries Jurlique. Personally i love their Purifying Mask, it smells like candied fruits instead of dirt. Jurlique also offer a rose water moisturizer, i saw in Lucky for December 2009, and sure enough Felicia has it. Felicia also offers Declore it is an anti-ageing line. I haven’t tried it but it seems like a lot of celebrities have like Giorgio Armani, Kim Bassinger, and Cameron Diaz. One of the my favorite lines offer is Dr. Ci Labo. It’s a Japanese line made by a dermatologist that was looking for a way to cure common skin issues. I use the Pore White and their 377 cream. both products help to get rid of my acne scars. The Pore White is the best, cheapest and most genial skin peal ever made it. it breaks down the keratin that bonds the skin together. All you need is 20 seconds to see it work for you. These are just a few of the products offered by Felicia’s Cosmetics. If your are in the Newbury st. area then you should look her up and stop in.
