Four-​Handed Illusions is a one-​of-​a-​kind performance of magic, illusion, and comedy. Joel Acevedo and Steve Kradolfer, both accomplished performers in their own right, have chosen a sophisticated salon setting to combine their magical and comedic talents in an astonishing demonstration of sleight-​of-​hand and mentalism. Designed for those 21 and older, the show has an intimate atmosphere, with no stage separating the audience and magicians, each seat providing a clear view of every magical effect. Four-​Handed Illusions is the only presentation of magic and comedy of its kind in New England, every performance selling out. The event starts with a pre-​show reception in the Hampshire’s House Baker Bar at 3:15pm (7pm — evening show) serving light hors d’oeuvres (included) and drinks (cash bar). At 4pm (7:30 pm — evening show), guests enter the Library where they will will witness surreal situations come to life: common objects will appear and vanish, teleport to impossible locations, and move across the room in inexplicable ways. In addition, audience members will experience mind reading and telepathy between the magicians, and even each other!

Dress code: Cocktail attire (Tie and/​or jacket for gentlemen, dressy attire for ladies)

Business Owner

Joel Acevedo, a native of Puerto Rico, combines his day job as an engineer at MIT with magic performances for individuals and corporations. For more than 17 years, he has amazed audiences in Puerto Rico, the U.S.A., and Spain; country to which he travels regularly to teach magic courses as a professor of the ‘Ana Tamariz School of Magic’ in Madrid. He is also a regular performer at Boston’s longest running magic and comedy show: ‘The Mystery Lounge’. After seeing his magic, the legendary David Blaine raved: «Even magicians appreciate what Joel can do».

Best way to describe this show is classy, fun and amazing!!! Jaw dropping show with a refreshing hint of comedy. I was visiting from Orlando and a friend invited me over and even tho I did a lot of things while in Boston this was my favorite!

Awesome show, great magicians, I had an excellent time. My only disappointment was the crowd during my show was a little older and reserved, otherwise I would have been falling out of my seat and screaming after every reveal.
Seriously, I didn’t think the night could get better until *GoT spoiler alert* I went home, watched Game of Thrones, and Jon Snow came back from the dead.

This is a completely delightful and amazing evening. We went with three other couples and didn’t really know what to expect. From enjoying cocktails beforehand in a beautiful room to being dumbstruck by the illusions and delighted by the senses of humor of both illusionists, we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. We also loved the fact that we were asked to dress up a bit for the event. It added to the festive atmosphere. I don’t know how we did not know of this show before. Run, don’t walk to get tickets. You won’t be disappointed.

A special and wondrous experience. It’s rare to find close-​up magic performed the way it is meant to be performed – in a cozy, intimate setting where you can all but reach out and touch the magicians. Joel and Steve are masters of their craft, and have discovered the perfect milieu to serve their witty and graceful illusions. Their patter is funny and engaging, their execution of flourishes and sleight-​of-​hands is wizardly. They do a creditable job of integrating their library setting into their show in an organic and effective way. It was an exceedingly entertaining – and uplifting – evening from start to finish.
If I might offer the magicians one small bit of feedback, their show is aptly titled «Four-​Handed Illusions» and the divergent performance styles of Joel and Steve complement each other very nicely, creating a very satisfactory sense of collaboration. However, they only perform one truly «four-​handed» illusion – the opening piece, which felt very fresh and sets up the show nicely. But it also set up an expectation for additional four-​handed illusions – especially an expectation that perhaps the show would close out with another unique four-​handed trick that could only be performed with two illusionists. Every single one of their routines is masterfully performed and always delightful, but nevertheless I was left waiting for one more two-​man magical feat that never came.
But this is a quibble. Theirs is an exquisite magic, and top-​notch entertainment.

This was the third time I’ve seen the show and it never fails to be a great evening. We usually go as a group of 6 people and I love to see the reaction of friends who have never seen the show. The intimate setting in the Hampshire House is perfect for viewing from all 3 rows of seats. There is audience participation and everyone is drawn into the show. Joel and Steve are incredibly talented and we always leave with the same question «How did they do it ?». This makes for great dinner conversation after the show.

If I could give this show 10 stars I would! A group of six of us went to see this show and did not stop talking about it the entire ride home. Crazy magic takes place at this show, you will ask yourself many times over «How the he_​_​did he do that?» I am not kidding, go see them. They are incredibly talented, hilariously funny, and invite many of the audience members to participate in the show. That makes it even more fun.
You start the show with some light appetizers of fruit, cheese, and crackers. A cash bar is available should you want a drink before the show starts. You go to your seats and then you sit back and are entertained for two + hours by these two fantastic performers. The best $ 50 you will ever spend!

Classy, funny, but most of all… WOW! 6 of us went for my 60th birthday and this was absolutely amazing. I love magic and these 2 men are fantastic at their trade. the library at the hampshire house is a very intimate venue. there was a good deal of participation from the 50 people in the room which made it intimate as well as a lot of fun. you will not be disappointed in this show! we could not stop talking about the tricks all through dinner. thank you Joel and Steve for a «magical evening». you are the best!

This show was absolutely amazing, a must see in Boston — I’m stunned it’s not more talked about, these guys are super talented and funny. The magic tricks were on point (and I’m a pretty discerning guy), I had my mind blown more times than I figure to count. I have seen magic shows in Vegas that pale in comparison to this one. With a mixture of magic and comedy, these two have you completely enthralled from start to finish. The show ended less than an hour ago and I am still in awe at what I just saw. Do yourself a favor, grab tickets while you can. This is more than worth your time.

We went to see this a few weeks ago and I have to say it is one of the best illusion shows I have ever seen, especially so close up. Both were so funny and different that it made the whole show magnetic. I have been to the Magic Castle in Hollywood and this was just as good. The close up illusions will blow you away. I am still dumbfounded how they did so many things. Then bar is also good in between and they give you cheese, crackers and fruit. Top notch!

Well, I can say I’m one of those people who sit in the crowd and try so hard to figure out what I just saw, and how did he just do that? No luck here! This was an excellent show, both men are extremely talented and I was blown away. You will really enjoy the small venue and the staff if friendly. If you like to amazed get to this show!!!

When it comes to magic shows, most of us think of either children’s birthday parties, or the ridiculous over-​the-​top Vegas stage show stuff. If you have never seen professional magicians perform up-​close, you are missing out. For the price of a modest dinner for two, you’ll be thoroughly entertained for about two hours in an intimate venue where you’re so close to the action, that you, quite literally, will not believe your eyes.
My girlfriend and I took in their most recent show, on April 26th, and it really was amazing. Joel and Steve are hysterically funny, and also incredibly talented. There is nothing gimmicky about these guys. They kept us totally entertained with card tricks, jokes, and even some levitating furniture, and they were really great to talk with after the show. The Hampshire House library is a beautifully classic setting for this event, complete with fireplace, and old oak architectural details (not to mention the bar, and complimentary hors-d’oeuvres). The dress code is cocktail attire, which gives everyone a good excuse to dress up a little, and makes this feel like a proper grown-​up night out.
Bring a date here, and I guarantee magic will happen.

This was a great opportunity see magic up close in an upscale environment (cocktail attire requested), Steve and Joel are absolute professional magicians. Their show will leave you laughing with their humor, engrossed with audience participation (and everyone gets to participate), and in awe of the tricks/​acts that they present. Truly a magical night! As others have mentioned there is a cash bar with complimentary cheese and crackers, and you’re provided place holders to reserve your seating, so it pays to show up when they first open the room to get closer to the action. Even from the third row, where I was seated, you can still see what’s going on. Currently this occurs one night per month with two shows. It is unlike anything being offered in the Boston area.

These guys are funny and, more importantly, are great magicians. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time.
The venue is the beautiful second-​floor library of the Hampton House, where the Cheers Bar is located off of the Boston Common. In such an intimate space, there are no bad seats, and with such a small audience, there is a good chance you will be selected to assist in one of the illusions.
You’ll be amazed by the many tricks performed – you definitely get your money’s worth with this show, which includes an intermission – and you’ll leave wondering how they pulled off all of these illusions before your eyes.
Don’t expect much in the way of complimentary hors d’oeuvres before the performance. The food was a modest spread of fruit, cheese, and crackers that looked like it originally had come in a plastic container from a grocery store. But you aren’t there for the food; you’re there to see a top-​notch, live demonstration of the increasingly rare art of magic.
