I’ve come to Georgianna’s a few times for lunch since it’s nearby the office. I wish it was better or I’d go more often! Mostly, I think it’s just not worth what it costs. Yes, it’s in the South End, but it’s still just a market with sandwiches and a la carte food. I haven’t had anything there that makes me want to go back. The service is just ok– you feel like you’re just trying to get in and out of there in a hurry. They also impose a $ 10 minimum for credit card purchases. That’s not hard to do if you get a meal there, but still.

The Market is on Tremont Street across from Picco /Barcelona it is owned and operated by a über Greek Husband and Wife — George & Anna, ala«Georgianna’s!» They HATE each other and it shows. They have a KILLER location and full wine /beer /liquor licence — wow. Read: GOLDMINE. I wish they took a little more pride in understanding what it is people(«customers») want. They certainly have customers that have $$$$ to spend and are willing to pay for quality — alas half the time you grab the fruits and veg are very much past prime or even just rotten. There is a crap-load of wasted space selling things that no one ever buys. South Enders want great organic products and will pay for it. We do not need 36 hour old hot food that clearly has been sitting in the water bath for HOURS if not from the day before. They should also broaden their horizons a bit and understand that just because they are Greek not all Greek products are the best(e.g. run over and shop Formaggio’s or Whole Foods). Lastly, the attitude. .. as I said, nice folks but want something special or different cooked, the wife is not a very big fan ;-) Want to use Amex? Well they got rid of that so if you are bringing a bottle to clients house for dinner, forget expensing it. When a person turns off Amex it shows they do not ultimately care for the customer — it is very simple minded of people to not treat customers like gold. Once the customers are gone — so is the business. I wish them well and I hope they kick it up a notch and recognize the opportunity.
