i signed up b/​c it was in my city of columbia water bill and thought i could trust them. had to use them 3 months later b/​c of toilet water problem at 9:30 pm –they finally said they would put a call out– 1:30 am i called back supposedly put another call in-​finally at 3am i had to call the city to have them come out and cut water off — then got phone call from apple plumbing whooshed they would be here b/​tween 8and noon– i had other service folks lined up for 8am and asked if they could come between 9-​and noon-​when they called at 9am to let me know they would be here between noon and later this afternoon-​i said no and as he said they wherein sumter 60 miles away on a job– they were short on workers-really?_so supposedly are coming — not at noon but around next job_​i am i’m n line– this was an emergency– can’t wait to see my water bill– i have no water-​do not trtust any flyer that comes in your water or electricity bill-​it is these people home serve usa– what a rip off-​at the city and state you would think they have a responsibility to protect the public as our tax dollars pay them this is a ripoff-​please help get these people closed down– go read the reviews wilsh i had– how irresponsible for this to be allowed to be be put in a city/​state bill-​i have now been up since 9:30 pm and it is now 1:30pm waiting b/​c they kept saying we put a call in– they never did until 2:30am-i did have other things to do-​keep your plumber your hvac your old service workers

They get you to sign up for an annual contract and you should get fast response time and free yearly checkups. They don’t remind you to setup your annual inspections in time to do so in their limited window. They don’t come same day, some time it’s over a week before they can come. They say they cover tons of replacement parts and stuff yet every time i’ve called them there is ALWAYS «this isn’t covered» «we need more money». Additionally, their appointment windows are 6 hours long, so plan on taking the whole day off work. Basically throwing away money each month for a service that provides no additional value then call ing a plumber or other service company on demand.

I can’t say enough about this company I’m a landlord in Boston so I have 3 service contracts plus one for my own home. Try getting a plumber to look at your furnace at the drop of a hat& trust me it will cost you, They are there all the time& yes sometimes you have to wait 4 to 8 hours but so what!! One service call would be more than the contract every year plus it’s a peace of mind knowing that’s one huge thing that is covered especially in the middle of the winter with tenants. But the real reason I’m writing tonight is to tell you I had a technician at my house and he looked familiar from working on my rental units so when he finished fixing my problem at my home I asked him if he was the lucky one who had to work tomorrow & fix the heat at one of my rental units, he said no but got on the phone& got them to give them the call so he left my house followed me to my rental unit fixed my heat so I didn’t have to meet someone there tomorrow from 1200 to 400pm .He wanted me to enjoy thanksgiving with my family! Now that’s what you call customer service!!!

Shoddy workmanship and under trained employees. My family is sorry that we ever signed up for there service contact. We thought it was a good deal based on a mailing sent to us showing a less expensive cost then what we had been paying a local HVAC contractor however we found less cost means less service as well. A typical maintenance with our old company would take between an hour to an hour and a half. They would even leave a full computerized printed out summery and report on the service and efficiency of our system. The HomeServe technician was in and out in less then twenty minutes. All we received was a filter change and a light rag dusting of our heating system. We will be going back to our local company for all future service needs and I recommend that you do the same.

Wow had two service calls because my ac is not working both unsuccessful I call back 3 hours after the last unsuccessful «fix» best they can do they will be back tomorrow. .it’s 85 degrees in my house

Getting a service call in peak times is always tough. Try calling a local hvac guy in May/​June or heater guy in Jan. I found Homeserve can schedule appointments same day, do not charge extra for evening appts and their techs are very well trained. On other hand, I found many local companies to be rip-​offs.
I highly recommend. Took one star off as they have no online scheduling and the phones are typically backed up.

I just signed in January thinking if I have a problem they show up but had to wait for a week and this is an emergency call. My air conditioner is not working and the technician comes and says he has 2 minutes until his shift is up so he has to come on Monday since the weekend has a skeleton crew and had to suffer the weekend with very hot weather. Today is Monday and we will see what happens but I’m at my wits end. It seemed they scammed me to believe that they come right away on emergencies and when they do come, send me someone that is on their shift longer than 2 minutes… it don’t make sense. I’ll see what happens but I think I will not continue their service and use respectable companies! Don’t waste your money with this company!!!

do not use this service. I have had 10+ service calls since ¹²⁄₂₀₁₄ and they still can’t make the proper repair of my heating system.

2÷16÷15 — UPDATE — This has not been a pleasant winter in Boston… and my furnace hasn’t been particularly pleasant to deal with either…
I’ve had HomeServe out twice this year. The first time– on the coldest day in Boston in many years –it turned out to be a blown fuse in the system — and again today to deal with a rattling motor. I will say this again like I did in my first review… I don’t know why this company is getting bad reviews. The man that came out — I’m pretty sure he said his name was Matt. Was friendly, courteous, professional, and knew what the problem was immediately. He fixed it within 30 minutes.
I know nothing about furnaces. I trust Home Serve USA to look after mine for me. They are worth every penny. I sleep better at night knowing that I have this protection setup for my house. I can’t imagine having a single point of failure like a furnace not on some type of maintenance program… because I know if if breaks — 24 hours a day — that Home Serve will fix it.

Joined the service plan as the price was right. First call the tech didn’t even turn the heating system prior to working on it just replaced a heat maker ignition gizmo, turned on the system and told me it was all working. I challenged him and told him i have no hot air at the vent 15″ from the 100,000 BTU unit. He told me it was working fine just needed time to warm up (he measured 82 degrees inside the vent with his probe. The boiler continued to short cycle and very little heat on the return pipe. The house went up 1 degree F after 1 hour of running continuously.
The second call was no better (I had even told them my thoughts on the problem). The tech wrote a long report mentioning how the system was way to big for the application and that I need to contract a mechanical company to re-​configure the whole system. Funny the system had worked for 16 years just fine prior to the issue. Also I thought I was paying for service no an opinion. I was not around for this visit so my wife had to listen to this BS. I then called to talk to a supervisor who was to call me back within 3 days. This didn’t happen so I called to cancel. I replaced the circulation pump $ 84 and I am back in business 4 degrees in 15 minutes from cold no short cycling.

Great Service! Our water heater died when our basement flooded. I called at 8:00pm and set up an appointment for the next afternoon. They called me back and came out within 15 minutes. The tech was great and fixed it in a few minutes. This is the second time we’ve called with an urgent issue and both times we received excellent service.

I have used these guys twice and both times they did a great job. Easy to schedule. Today the tech was due between 8am and Noon. He arrived just before 8. This time there was actually no problem he could find and checked everything just to make sure. (I was being proactive on getting my heating pipes bled.) I am happy with these guys. Sorry to read poor reviews. I just didn’t have any problems.

Absolutely the WORST. I waited on the phone for an entire hour just to book the appointment for a tuneup and for a repair to my AC. Phone staff is pleasant and tries to be helpful, however.
But I was told I would be receiving a call 15 minutes to 30 minutes prior to their arrival. I gave them my cell phone because I was running errands in my town 5 minutes from my house. They called — and I could not get my phone out of my purse before they hung up leaving no message. Why would you not leave a message or a call back number? That’s ridiculous.
Then they did not show within 30 minutes nor within 2 hours.
I called HomeServe to see if they could get a dispatcher to call the repairman. At first they would not do it. They kept repeating I was within the 6 hour window. I tried to explain that since I had received the 30 minute warning call, I wanted to know if having not reached me and not leaving a message — did they give up and throw me out of the queue? That required too high a degree of thought for them. The phone rep was like a robot repeating over and over that it was a 6 hour window. I gave up and requested a supervisor. After speaking with a supervisor — the supervisor did call the dispatcher. He said the dispatcher said the repairman was on his way to my house and would be there shortly. That was two hours ago!!!
I called again, got a pleasant enough rep who stayed calm even though I was getting upset. She got another dispatcher who said that the repairman was making another call and that I would be «next» — but there was no idea if that would be 30 minutes or two hours or the rest of the day. That’s absurd.
I feel as if I am getting lip service.
So, bottom line if you want to destroy an entire morning or afternoon then stick with HomeServe. I’m sorry I paid so much for so little.

Still getting no where with these people!!! Here we are 10 days later and the heat is still not fixed!!! The repair man just left my parents house and said there is nothing he can do and left them with no heat!!! Why bother having a service contract if they don’t provide a service!!! My next calls are to the local news stations to let them know how Homeserve does business and how they take advantage of the elderly then after that I will be contacting my attorney!!! STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM HOMESERVE!!!

Just don’t expect that they will actually provide a tuneup anytime during the winter. We signed up in November and started trying to reach them. Finally got a tuneup date in late January. Rearranged calendar to be home and then they cancelled «due to inclement weather in our region.» A complete crock. They rescheduled for March! After that tune-​up (for which we’ve already paid our annual fee), we will return to the good care of our local company.

Sold a plan… up sold me… hot water heater problem… o that part and man hours not covered… mad but ok… told between 12−6… Took day off work… guy relievers part… says he can’t install… called many times… installer never shows… and biggest kick in nuts… they wanted to charge me 132 dollars for a parts that is at home depost (same brand and model) …$ 42… Canceled plan

I was skeptical about this company after reading many negative reviews. Long story short, I called Homeserve about a problem with my furnace. They gave me a 6 hour window from noon to 6pm for the service technician to arrive. I got call around 5pm stating that they are running late but assured me that they are on the way. I had low expectations to begin with so I wasn’t to bothered when the technician arrived at 6:30pm… He identified the problem and told me the part will be ordered. Within two days another repairmen arrives, (on time). Replaces the part, does a tune up of the system, identified two more issues and ordered parts for repair. Needless to say that I am pleasantly surprised. Will recommend as of now… At least for the Homeserve in my area, NY

These guys are terrible. I had a tune-​up scheduled between 8 — 12 and, like the other reviewers, the repairman never showed. I called HomeServe at noon to tell them I had an appointment at 12:30, and the woman said the repairman was on his way and would be there before 12:30. She asked if I could let him in, then head out for my 20 minute appointment. I agreed, but, of course, no one showed by 12:30. So, I was late for my meeting, missed a half day of work, and still never had the tune-​up done.
DO NOT use HomeServe. Find a good, reputable, local company and save your sanity.

Absolute worse company ever. They will lie and say they showed up at your house when you were there all day waiting for them. MULTIPLE TIMES in a ROW! They will not call the number, they will fail to show up, they are totally bogus and awful. Do not waste your money– go with a local company. These people are the worst!

Horrible experience. My air conditioning unit was broken and called on Friday to get it serviced. They scheduled service that day, and when scheduling I told them the unit was on a roof and they would need to bring a ladder. Seemed great until the guy called and said it was raining, so they would have to reschedule. Rescheduled to a Monday, when the guy came out to my place, looked at how to get to the roof and stated he couldn’t get up there. Told me Homeserve couldn’t service my unit. I have ABSOLUTELY no problem if they are unable to service the unit due to its location; however, when I originally stated a ladder would be required as the unit was on the roof, I was furious they didn’t tell me this may be a problem when I had originally placed my call!!!
Can tell you however, they were more than quick to try to sign me up for a service plan for a unit they wouldn’t service when I originally placed the call???
