I had a leak in my slate roof, and Jan came right out to fix the leak and repair a few broken slates. There ended up being a few less broken slates than he initially quoted, and he lowered the price without even being asked.
He was punctual, honest and a quick turnaround, perfect customer service.

Ipswich Roofing replaced our roof last summer and did a fabulous job! The roof looks and functions perfectly. We were impressed with Ipswich and Jan.
This winter with all the ice WE damaged our roof removing ice.
I contacted Jan and he will be coming in the Spring to repair the damage we did.

Jan and his team are hard working, well equipped and knowledgeable, they did a good job on our slate roof (replacing some broken tiles etc).
They made and installed custom copper sleeves on our roof vents, and wiped them clean and shiny after I commented that they were dirty.
Site cleanup could have been better; some screws and nails were left on the gravel in our back yard, were we park the cars.
These are serious roofers, that can handle complex jobs.
Just make sure to coordinate expectations on what will be installed, aesthetics, finish, clean up etc.

Jan and his crew were excellent. On time, on budget and no trash/​nails in the yard when they left. We have an antique cape with cedar on top. These guys do great work. No surprises.

I truly cannot say enough positive things about Jan and his team — they are excellent.
I had a leaky skylight, at the peak of ice and snow season here in Boston, and all I could think was — ugh, time to find a roofing company — and hopefully a good one at that. You see, I had found a roofer on Unilocal three years ago, and he put in those skylights which had already leaked twice before (this roofer who put them in came out and couldn’t find the cause). So I certainly wasn’t going to contact him again with this third instance of leaking.
So it was back to Unilocal to try and find a new (and more reliable option) — and that’s when I came across Jan and Ipswich Roofing. Where were they when I needed them three years ago? :)
I called Jan and was able to quickly make an appointment. He came out to survey the roof and provide me with an estimate. And, he was able to easily identify the likely cause of the leaking — the previous roofer had never flashed the skylights — they could totally be lifted up and off the openings! (!!!) Which means when we got lots of snow and ice, it was making it’s way right up and under the skylights and into the drywall space which = water dripping through the ceiling. Jan also found another hole, and a few seams that needed to be sealed, but said that overall the roof was in good shape and should last another 10 years or so (no trying to upsell me into a new roof, or scare tactics to try and make it a bigger job than it needed to be!)
After providing me with a very reasonable estimate (it’s a 160 year old brick brownstone with a flat rubber roof), we agreed on a time for him to come back with one of his guys to do the work.
They had to trudge up and down three flights of stairs to get the materials up to the roof — and did it professionally, with smiles, and left my home as clean as before the work started. They did an excellent job with the repairs, raising the height of the skylights up to further protect them from the elements, and went through all of the repairs with me so that I could see what had been done. And I am SO happy to say that I have not had any further issues, even with the additional snow, ice, and rain we’ve recently had.

I own several commercial buildings and work with many contractors on a regular basis. I had Jan do a siding job for me that included some roofing as well and I will absolutely call him the next time I have this type of project. Not only did he do a great job but he works fast and is very neat. I also asked him to do a couple of additional things while he was at this building and his price was very reasonable which is great because many times guys use this as an opportunity to overcharge. Ask Jan for my number if you want to ask me anything. Tell him it was the Middleboro siding job on Everett St.
I also saw photos of the amazing copper work that he does. He is a true craftsman.

Jan is an amazing person. My insurance company required a report on the roof of my house as a precondition for insuring me. Jan came by at very short notice and did an assessment on the roof and promptly sent me the report (at no cost).
I had to correspond with him a few more times because the insurer was picky about details and Jan always made the time to speak and correspond with me.
I was very, very impressed by Jan’s professionalism and attention, especially considering that I was not a paying customer (yet)
I hope I don’t have to touch the roof, but when I do (eventually) I will be calling Jan first.

We called Jan after we had a tree damage a corner of our house over the summer. With our insurance money we were able to have the whole roof re-​shingled, as well as install all new gutters and trim, in addition to the necessary roof and soffit repairs. Jan and a helper were able to remove all the damaged parts, old shingles, and old gutters and trim within one day and they had the house completed with all new shingles, gutters and trim within three days. Amazing. They worked their butts off and the place came out looking great, plus they were the best priced quote we received. Highly recommended.

It is rare to find a company these days that does really high quality work — Jan’s company is one of them! We have 250+ year old house that has slate roofing. We’ve had a number of companies over the years work on it… none have ever really been asked to come back. Not only haven’t I felt confident of their work, but, usually, within weeks or months, that lack of quality shows through… and they just blame the house for being old (even when they are removing an old roof and starting from scratch!).
Jan is a bit on the quiet side for communication, but is completely over the top in terms of quality, attention to detail and thoroughness.
It’s very rare to find a company that reports problems, but you don’t feel like they are manufacturing it. ie., Jan found areas that needed work, took picture with his phone and demonstrated with the materials what the problems were.
He replaced two sections of roof with new materials (all slate) and replaced about ~40 miscellaneous slate around the house that had been damaged (some less than 2 years old and installed by idiots).
I guess the best I can say is that we’ve asked him back to do more work for us.

I also called several roofers and received several estimates on my barn roof and Jake not only gave me the best price but he did an excellent job. I asked him lots of questions and realized this guy knows his stuff. I also called his references and they all told me that they would rehire him for future work. He is reliable and an honest, hardworking guy. I am now saving money to do my house roof and will definitely call «Ipswich Roofing & Siding Company» to do the work.

Jan is great-he’s done some repairs of window framing for us, some roof checks, and also made time for us to shovel off our relatively flat roof for us right after the blizzard. The pricing is more than reasonable, and I can’t recommend them more highly. Call him if you need your roof checked, repaired, or siding or windows fixed!

My wife and I bought a condo in September, and we soon discovered that the gutters were not working right. The rain water just ran down the outside of the house instead of going down the gutter pipe. We put off dealing with it, but with the massive snows this winter, one of the gutters just fell off the house due to the weight of all the ice on it.
I called Ipswich roofing and Jake came that week to take a look and give me a quote. His prices were good, and he started work a few days later. Jake and his assistant did good work, were very professional, and cleaned up the work site every day. I would use them again and recommend them to friends and family.
