Took family for lunch before Freedom Trail. Kids loved Mac and cheese along with burgers. The little lady and I got IPAs to go with great lunch. It was empty so we were worried but honestly it was perfect.

A bit dive-y, and also a bit uneven, but about 2⁄3 to ¾ of the time, you’ve got very personable bartenders up for making things off the cuff, rather than off the menu. Have had some great inventions in a glass there.

Small, cozy gastropub with strong drink — love the Hemingway Heat, a must-order if you like spicy. Hit-or-miss on the bar snacks — tasty grilled cheese and frites. Deviled eggs were bland and chicken tacos were average. Great location for pre-theatre /pre-ballet drinks in Downtown Crossing. Bar is small and typically slammed during peak, come early/late to snag a bar seat.

Classy people that LOVE Diversity, Culture, and OVER25… This place is inadequate. Bartender did not know Tequila base drinks, cool cool, but the $ 8 dollar 2 devil eggs. Not organic is not cool. Yup, not a place for«Sophisticated City Slickers». Go to Yvonne’s ;) I’m in my 40s love good people, therefore admire diversity: D

Yessssss, this place was so good! We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and it was practically empty. The waitress was personable and helpful with suggestions. The mac and cheese was delicious and I ate every bite. My husband and our friend enjoyed other delicious dishes and also great beer. The restaurant is well decorated and clean. Definitely a great place to come for food or drinks!

Visiting from out of town with my husband and came here for late night drinks, based off of Unilocal reviews. Had the Sister Abigail, which was light and refreshing, and the In Fashion which was smooth and tasty. Also snacked on some of their cracka’ jack. Highly addictive. The bartenders were friendly and nothing short of fantastic.

The food here deserves 5 stars but the slow wait service impacted the overall score. Both my boyfriend and I had burgers and they were incredible. He had just cheddar on his, I did the whole works that their regular burger comes with. They were cooked perfectly, juicy, and extremely flavorful. The fries were also really incredible, they would be amazing with a little vinegar drizzled on. However, the water they gave at the table was served room temperature and for a hot day just wasn’t pleasant as such. The vibe of the place is very hipster and dark. Some of the seating is a bit cramped but overall not a bad atmosphere. There music playlist is also really good.

We sat at the bar and had the best service. The place was packed and still felt attended to. Bar tenders and bar backs are awesome. Food was good, kinda pricey(17 $ for a burger). Service was worth it though.

I love gastropubs, and this one was definitely awesome. I had been recommended by multiple people to hit it up, and I did for lunch, on the same block as my hotel. This place, and another bar both have a great selection of beer, so that was nice, and the staff was down to earth and pretty fucking awesome dudes. The food was good(I did the burger with bacon/egg and fries), co-worker did the mac and cheese. Both were really, really good… but not exceptional. I mean, 5 stars to me means… best of the best, but this is a good olé’ dive bar feeling with good beer and good food, and totally the kind of place to hit up often when you want something quick, greasy, delicious and easy. Definitely going back.

Went here on a Friday night. Very busy but for two of us it didn’t take too long to claim two bar stools. Started with two of the house cocktails which were excellent. I got the burger like I had always been told to and was extremely impressed. Great meat, perfectly cooked. The gentleman next to me had ordered the friend chicken meal. I asked him before I ordered how it was and he admitted it was also very good. Overall I was very impressed with JM’s. The price is what you would pay in that area. I will admit, if we had not gotten those bar seats as quick as we did, we probably would have left, but the restaurant is not a large space. Look forward to visiting again.

Interesting place, which was incredibly packed on a random Saturday afternoon at 5pm(there was a waitlist). They were slammed, unprepared for it, but they did the best they could. We had come for the poutine, and a few good beers. Their version of poutine, while quite tasty(doesn’t duck and duck fat maybe anything good?), was not something I’d repeat. The gravy was delicious, salty and warm, and yet there didn’t look like there was any cheese! Finally, the egg added a bit of color and texture(poutine isn’t exactly the prettiest dish), but it didn’t contribute much taste wise. The portion was quite small for $ 15, and I’d suspect there wasn’t even half a duck breast worth of duck in there. So whereas it was tasty, and nowhere near what anybody would consider(even fancy) poutine, I probably wouldn’t try it again. Tip: do not get the 2 person tables right by the door — which swings inward. You’ll get crazy winds during the brutal boston winter. We had to wear our coats the entire time.

Ice cold and over-cooked burgers and fries. Seriously, not even worth eating. Mac and cheese was terrible– in desperate need of some salt. My friend poured her overly-salty leek soup over the Mac and cheese and that made it edible. Popcorn on the table was burnt. Beer menu was pretty good. Come in for a beer, but probably best to eat somewhere else, especially if it’s close to the time they switch to late night menu.

Great vibe for a beer on a weeknight or weekend. They have one big TV in case you’re trying to catch a game(I was). Decent beer selection, mostly crafts and microbrews. Amazing burger though. It’s supposedly one of the best in Boston, and I haven’t had too many burgers here yet, but this one was excellent. Will definitely return in the future whether just for a drink or for dinner and drinks.

I recently moved from Boston to NY and I think the one place I miss most is JM Curleys. It’s just an awesome spot… Good food, good drinks, good people. Obviously everyone knows about the burger, which to this day is still my #1, but I encourage you to explore the rest of the menu. The fried pickles, chopped salad(yes the salad! It has the same dressing they use on the burger) and deviled eggs are my go to apps, the monte cristo and fried chicken dinners are, while not as famous as the burger, are delicious nonetheless, and don’t forgot to look at the board for the rotating specials which don’t disappoint. All that great food + a solid draft list and good selection of cocktails makes this place my jam. If anyone asks me what one place I’d recommend they try when visiting Boston, its absolutely JM Curleys. Can’t wait to visit Boston again just so I can stumble back in for another great experience.

I heard that Jm Curley was rated one of the top 10 burgers of Boston by Zagat and HAD to try it out. The wait wasn’t too bad(20 min) and a great way to kick back a Friday night. I loved both their burgers(5 oz) and their BBQ pork sandwich! Both were flavorful and juicy, the meat melted into my mouth but the burger was the clear winner(sorry pork). BESTBURGER I have had in a long time! They also have an entrance«Adults Only» towards the back that leads to their exclusive *drumroll* steakhouse. The waitress recommended that we make reservations ahead of time. Next time, we definitely will!

I was quite surprised to find this place packed on a Wednesday night! Luckily we only waited for about 10 minutes to be seated. The service was quick the entire night, which impressed me based on how busy they were. I shared the Fried Pickles, Duck Poutine and Lamb Sliders with one other person, and it was the perfect amount of food. Out of the 3 of them, my favorite were the Fried Pickles! Their simplicity was perfect, and they tasted fantastic with the creole mayo. I was a little disappointed with the Lamb Sliders because they were served cold, which I didn’t expect. They weren’t bad, but the idea of a cold burger slider isn’t as appealing as a hot one. The Duck Poutine was another delicious dish, with a ton of duck meat and really good gravy! As a Canadian, I have high expectations for poutine and they were certainly met. I had a very enjoyable experience here, but the food was a bit over-priced, which is what keeps me from giving it a 5-star review.

Jm Curley is the kind of place that I would spend too much time and money in if I wasn’t married to a traditional pub guy. I think it has it all: delicious food, incredibly tasty and creative cocktails, a fun industrial atmosphere, and friendly staff. The first time I was there I ordered their signature burger as I had read it was one of Boston’s best. And I must say, it lived up to its hype. The burger was flavorful and juicy, and the toppings complimented it perfectly. In addition, the bacon popcorn was the perfect starter and completely worth the cancer risk. My husband ordered the monte cristo(daily special) and I can easily say I have never seen anything so monstrous in all my life. Even the server commented about how heavy it was to carry. Hubs thought it was some sort of Food Network Challenge. Hilarious! Although he could only eat half, he said that half was very good. I’ve been there a few times since and each time I’ve sampled craft beers and one-of-a-kind cocktails. Even when it’s been super busy, the staff is always smiling, friendly, and helpful. Great place!

Definitely my favorite place to go in Boston. I almost don’t want to review JM’s because it’s a small space and it’s always such a tight squeeze on a weekend. They take their imbibing seriously. Like really seriously. Every cocktail is fine crafted and wholly encompassing. The burger is my favorite in Boston(that’s saying a lot because burger’s are my favorite thing to eat EVER), and they always have something surprising on the menu. Back in Sam Monsour’s day, it was the Foie Gras Donut. My tastebuds are tingling just thinking about it. It’s great for everyone — I’ve brought a mix of friends here on different occasions and each one has been impressed by the cocktail creation, the scene, the food, or all of the above. JM’s, thanks for always being clutch.

I came in on a Saturday afternoon for the burgers. The restaurant was maybe ¼ full, with bar seating on the left-hand side and two or four-top tables on the right hand side. It’s not a huge space, so I can definitely see this spot fill up during the weekday lunch or dinner. tips * Lunch does not include the free popcorn :( * There is a secret steakhouse/restaurant in the area behind the curtain that says«Adults Only». It’s like a restaurant speakeasy! 5OZGRASSFEDBEEFPATTY The lunch burger is $ 10 and 5 oz, compared to $ 17 and 9 oz for dinner. The sesame bun is light, the burger is cooked almost rare and topped with grilled onions and pickles with ample thousand island dressing. It is a gourmet In-N-Out burger! It’s clean, not too heavy or greasy, but super flavorful without being too salty. FRIEDPICKLES The fried pickles are small enough to be bite sized with a light batter so you can eat a lot of these! Since we paired these with the burgers instead of french fries, we definitely had pickle overload, but if you’re anything like Snooki and like your pickles, get these! Our server was super cool and effortless, not trying hard to be in our face while we were catching up, and filling our waters so that our glasses were never empty.
