My family’s been a client of Knapp Schenck insurance for more than 50 years. In this day and age of Geico and Progressive funny ads based on high volume sales it’s nice to have a family firm in Boston that knows your name. Where you can call the owner to proactively protect yourself.
If you buy on value instead of price you can appreciate the value of Knapp Schenck Insurance.
Six stars if that was an option

I cannot in all honesty say that Knapp Schenck, and the carriers it represents, are significantly worse than other agents or carriers I have dealt with, living in the North End, for Auto or Condo Owner’s insurance; so far at least, I have not found any of them to be very good. But I can also say in all honesty this agency is terrible. I ended up complaining to the Massachusetts Department of Insurance about them, and winning the case — but it was kind of a hollow victory, as they just keep on doing business the same way regardless. Insurers and agents — or at least some of them — make a show of sampling their Customer Satisfaction levels, but there is no sign at all, as far as I can see, that they actually improve service levels as a result. My main point is that if you are looking for a good agent, my experience would lead me to believe that this is not the place to look — although if you were to ask me, «Where’s a better place?», I’d have to confess, I don’t know. The real answer is that the Massachusetts insurance market needs real reform, not just the cosmetic changes the industry and the politicians pretend to put into effect — but that’s another story, and a long and boring one too!
