We are terribly disappointed in the the services of Erin Harris as my girlfriend’s divorce lawyer. When we first approached Erin regarding possible representation, my gf was being threatened on a daily basis to the point that we were considering a restraining order against her X. We just wanted the process completed and my gf was willing to conceded a considerable amount of her rights just so he could essentially «go away». However, we figured that due to his aggressive nature and threats hiring an attorney was prudent.
During the initial consultation Erin promised a fair and equitable outcome and even though it was obvious that she wasn’t one of those aggressive divorce lawyers. We decided to go with her none the less just so we could be assured that all legal t’s were crossed. We gave her a check for a large retainer and let the process continue. Disappointment doesn’t even begin to address what we went through in subsequent legal dealings. First she advised my gf to not allow me to attend any of the hearings because it may inflame an already volatile situation, however it seems to me that providing adequate support to my life partner during such a difficult time would be an appropriate way to go. In any event, hearings came and went where my gf x would become rather bombastic and threatening; enough for my gf to feel intimidated and scared even with attorney Harris sitting by her side.
Attorney Harris’ demeanor could be adequately described as a mediator, not a legal advocate representing one party but more interested that both parties were treated fairly. This is fine and dandy in certain circumstances but not when we are paying 100% of her legal fees. After it was all said and done, the outcome was less than desirable. My gf felt intimidated enough to accept a terrible custody arrangement for her daughter causing more tension between her and her x. She felt obliged to accept less child support than the MA child support guidelines called for. In the end it can be considered a loss in a legal sense given the circumstances of this case. My gf still has to deal with a very angry volatile X on a daily basis and struggle financially to provide for her daughter.
During all this Attorney Harris lost the original retainer check we had given her, months went by before she started to threaten my gf with bringing her to small claims court for her payment. Which is her right I suppose, but my gf and I are both in agreement that hiring Attorney Harris was a major mistake.

It was the best decision I could have made. Throughout the course of litigation, she worked passionately on my case file, she pursued my objectives aggressively, and she was incredibly dedicated to me as a client. My case went to trial in February 2014, and I have to say, the other side simply crumbled. Erin’s sharp cross-​examinations together with her persuasive arguments won the trial!
I am so happy with the result of my trial that I would give Erin Harris ten stars if I could. She should be wearing a cape with a gold emblem over her trial suit.
