Linens On the Hill

I have been to Linens on the Hill many times over the course of the past 27 years and I believe the store continues to exceed my hopes, both in customer service and merchandise quality. I have always known the shopkeeper and long-​term employees to be patient, warm and genuinely interested in helping me make a satisfying purchase. Thank you, Linens on the Hill, for a lifetime of beautiful linens and wonderful memories!

Awful customer service. We walked in to the empty store and all the clerk said was: «Could you remove yourselves until you’ve finished your ice cream?» No «hello» or «good morning».
I understand her desire to maintain high quality products in her store. There is, however, a way to deliver the message in a friendly manner without sounding like a condescending snob.
This was our first and last time in that store. The linens are probably great… good luck trying to find out.

How does this place do business? I hesitated to visit this store because of a previous negative experience with this shop’s staff when I was not allowed in the store because I was holding an unopened water bottle and ignored. On this occasion, the surly, unhelpful and rude shopkeeper could not be bothered to assist in an expensive purchase for which I was referred to by a manufacturer’s website. I was the only prospective customer in the store and the rep was condescending and she barked not to open a package for which I was simply looking.
If this store expects customers to spend beaucoup dollars on a custom-​order linen set, you better step up your customer service. I implore the manufacturers to pull your products from this store’s shelves and have someone with better panache representing your products. I strongly advise avoiding this store and take your business to nearby Duxiana or Frette stores where the staff was much eager to assist and delighted to provided value.

Stopped by today to buy some new expensive bed linens to go with my new expensive down comforter and duvet set — unfortunately the woman working behind the counter couldn’t be bothered with something as archaic as ‘customer service’. An insincere ‘do you need help’ followed by… nothing. I was the only person in the store yet she clearly had better things to do than help a customer. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she went shopping on Rodeo Drive. If you can afford $ 250+ for one single flat sheet I suggest stopping by the Frette shop on Boylston. The salespeople there are not only incredibly helpful but really know good linen.

Expensive but has very very nice linens and things. Linens on the Hill carries beautiful handbags. They also carry a small selection of baby stuffed animals. Worth stopping in.
