Local Charm

Horrible service and quality! My husband purchased a ring for me from the store in Minnesota from the Manager and she will not return any of my calls, my stones are cracked and chipping after only 2 days! She promised to replace it and now will not call me back, I have been waiting and waiting!!! Hopefully my letter to corporate will help?

I was completely surprised to walk in to a jewelry store right along the major touristy area of Boston (Faneuil Hall) and find such a lovely store with attentive and knowledgeable staff, with amazing prices. When we arrived there were a few looky-​lous coming in and out of the store, so as I was checking out the gorgeous jewelry, I was terrified to ask for the prices. However, I was promptly informed that all of the jewelry was lettered and correlated to price lists standing out on the counter. As I perused the pieces and their prices, I felt everything was quite reasonable for the quality and uniqueness of the pieces.
I was helped by a friendly gal who was willing to help me out with in my search and absolutely fell in love with a Rutilated Quartz ring that i just couldn’t live without. These are pieces where you instantly feel the quality as you put them on. Even though I knew I really shouldn’t, I asked if they had an Onyx rings, since I’ve been looking to replace a lost piece for quite some time. She gladly brought out quite a few for me and what do you know? There’s another piece I can’t live without. A bit of a personal splurge, but hey, when you find a gem like Local Charm, you just have to go for it sometimes. I adore my pieces and have worn them pretty much every day since their purchase. I’m looking forward to ordering from their online store in the future too.

I haven’t been back to Local Charm in a while, but just thought of it when recommending a place for a colleague to buy an anniversary gift.
I thought of Local Charm because, as I type this, I am wearing this gorgeous pendant with a bright blue stone that I received for my 18^th birthday. I get compliments on it all the time.
…I will 28 next week. This stuff holds up to the trends and the times.

This store sells beautiful jewelry, some items are comparable to David Yurman’s style. There is an enormous variety of jewelry items with a wide range of prices. The sales staff was very intuitive and knew exactly what I was looking for.

Nice jewelry and a nice little store but it’s a bit pricey. I had a real big problem with the staff — they were very pushy and kept trying to get me to spend more than what I said I was looking to spend, about twice as much ($ 200 vs $ 80 – 100). I could barely look around because they kept putting expensive items in my face. It was really obnoxious and I couldn’t wait to get out of there. They will not be getting my business in the future in account to their rude staff.

This is a great little shop in Faneuil Hall, and I always enjoy visiting it. I have several pieces of jewelry from Local Charm (pendants, rings, earrings) that I have bought for myself or received as gifts, and I have also bought jewelry for other people here.
The store is tiny and can get quite cramped when there are a lot of people shopping, so you either have to be patient in order to see everything or have a basic idea of what you’d like going in.
The prices are reasonable — I personally have never spent over $ 100 on a single item here, and I like that you can pull the cases out and try on the pieces without having to find a salesperson each time you want to see something. If they don’t have your ring size in the case, they do have other options you can pick from — some are exactly the same piece in multiple sizes, and others use the same stones but in different designs.
The salespeople do have their «spiel» that they do each time you come into the store, which is a bit annoying if you’re a repeat customer, but otherwise this is a great place to shop and they seem to know their gemstones well.
When you make a purchase, they wrap it up prettily, and I love knowing that the store sells local items. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Boston, to add to my jewelry collection!

AVOID THIS STORE! I am shocked at the excellent reviews. Please guys check out Ebay and don’t get ripped off as I did — I paid 90 for a ring that I found on Ebay for $ 20!
Worse? I called the manager to ask for some price adjustment since I bought TWO rings, she laughed, and hung up.

I’m a huge fan of Local Charm shops. I love going into them when I see them because the jewelry is all local but fits a certain style well. So, I know what I will see will vary from place to place. I’d say most of the pieces are high value for your money. While it isn’t inexpensive, it is real silver, gold and semi-​precious stones. You pay for quality, but not a name brand, which I think is awesome.

Every year, a few days before my mother’s birthday/​Christmas, I have my annual ‘I-​have-​no-​idea-​what-​to-​get-​the-​mum-​maybe-​I-​should-​just-​give-​her-​another-​cuisinart” freakout. But Local Charm is always there to save my ass. With jewelry in an abundance of different styles (mother has yet to say «this looks awfully similar to the ones you got me last year), staff that are not only patient but also wicked helpful, and incredibly reasonable prices, what’s not to love about this place? Also, I seem to always be in and out of LC in under 30 minutes. With at least a pair of earrings in hand. Impressive.

I usually try to browse this shop on each visit I make to the city, since the stock changes rapidly and they usually have some stuff in backstock to look at. You get to try on anything you want and none of the cases are locked, it is great not to have to ask to try stuff on.

I love this teeny, tiny, narrow and often crowded shop. Staff has been helpful and you are welcomed and encourgaged to open the sliding glass display cases to get closer looks and try items on. I’ve come out with pendants and rings mostly… I hope they are around for a loooooong time!!!

I first visited Local Charm at Logan Airport on my way to the Virgin Islands this past spring/​summer… I was just saying to myself while walking through the airport for a 8am flight I needed some sterling silver hoops that I never bought before my trip and low and behold, I look up and there are some silver hoops with a twist in the middle… they were about $ 30, but I was so happy they were open that early… the only thing is the silver is heavy and the posts bend because they’re sterling so the posts broke and I returned them to Fanueil Hall with no problem!!! I didn’t have the earrings with me or anything… I just described them and they re-​ordered and had them ready for me in less than a week! I was so happy… only they broke again!!! :(Now if they’ll switch them again, I change my rating to 5 stars!!!
PS. AS PROMISED — 5 STARS!!! THEY ROCK!

If you are looking for a funky piece of jewelry at a reasonable price, there is no where better to look. I have several pieces from here, including two rings that I wear every day.
The staff is great too. Just give them an idea of what you are looking for, and they will hunt through items that aren’t on display to help you find what you are looking for.
The space is tiny though, and I hate being in here with more than like 3 other people.
UPDATE: now I have 3 rings from here that I wear every day, plus a necklace that I save for low-​cut, fancy-​dress occasions

The necklaces and pendants are typically sold separately. If you have something specific in mind, mention it to the knowledgeable staff, because there are many more options than what’s out and visible. They also know a lot about the pieces and the jewelry designers/​artists.

This is a great place to browse or shop for gifts. They have a really nice selection which is showcased well in the small space. It reminds me of some of the jewelry sold in little artisan shops in Provincetown. Extremely interesting and unique pieces. My only complaint is that the staff here is usually totally uninterested in helping people out. They look like they are high school or college students and just seem to be chatting while you are trying to look at pieces. I much prefer the service at Geoclassics across Fanueil Hall, but Local Charm I think has more interesting pieces, especially if you are shopping for a gift.
Also, ask them to show you pieces that are not displayed. They generally have a bunch, which is especially helpful if you are shopping for a particular stone, say, garnet or druzy, but don’t like what you see displayed. There are a lot of hidden gems (haha) hiding below the counters.

Nestled in an area dominated by national chain stores (banana republic, anne taylor, crate & barrel, etc. etc. ad nauseum) is this little gem of a jewelry shop. I have several of their pieces, and always have luck finding just the perfect something for friends and family. Their pieces are original, tasteful and not too expensive, yet there is enough variety to satisfy most tastes. I also like that this place is not stuffy at all, and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the products they carry.

Great little shop. They sell mostly sterling silver with gemstones. Many pieces are priced around $ 50.00, so you won’t break the bank shopping here. We bought my sister in law earrings and a matching neckless which she loves. The stones are lovely and settings unique– not too delicate and not too chunky.
