I went here for partial-​foil highlights after reading many Best of Boston and Unilocal reviews. I chose the ‘middle-​tier-​priced’ colorist, who was plenty pricey enough (and I have no qualms about spending $$$ on highlights), thinking she’d be well-​trained. I asked for ‘subtle’ but noticeable golden highlights in my chestnut brown hair. After making teeny tiny foils all over my head that took forever (this after I told her I liked chunkier highlights), when it came time to rinse them out she realized you couldn’t see any highlights because they were the same color as my natural hair (poor choice of color). I sat there an extra 45 minutes while my hair fried. This was about 2 years ago – it has taken all that time to grow my hair out into a defrizzed, shiny state again. She over-​processed my hair, only to come out with highlights you could barely see because she chose the wrong color. Have not trusted anyone to give me highlights since. I did not feel at all comfortable in that salon and will certainly never go back.

My hair was a mess when I walked in. Megan was honest sbout what had to be done. I feel everyone else I’ve gone to just went ahead with what I wanted and damaged my hair. I’m on my way to correcting my color but I was amazed a how I looked after the first step. All I did was get compliments at work the next day. Megan is really amazing at what she does. I finished with Jacki and an amazing cut.

I have been doing Balyage with Jordan for a few years and he does the most amazing, naturally sun kissed highlights in my light /​caramel brown hair. I will never let anyone else color my hair after finding him. He’s also the sweetest — I always leave our appointments with a big smile!
Jackie also does the bests haircuts. I’ve had long, thick hair my whole life (which was pretty unmanageable until Jackie started cutting it.) I recently had an urge to cut it — Jackie took the time to make me feel really comfortable and asked me a bunch of questions about what I wanted and liked. She did the most AMAZING lob /​shoulder length cut. I’m absolutely obsessed with it and will be visiting her again soon to keep it up!

If you want to get your hair done by racist, judge-​mental individuals, feel free to go to Megan & co. They will all say horrible things about you where they congregate. I have literally seen Jackie kick one of Megan’s small dogs when she thought no one was looking. The thing that’s hilarious about this place is that they think the back room (where it takes them 20 minutes to mix up bleach) has sound-​proof doors. I have literally heard these people refer to other people’s children as «n*glets»; among many other horrible nicknames.
While Megan is good with color, Jackie I’m sure never even stayed inside the lines of her coloring books as a child. I started out with Megan due to her reputation and Best of Boston reviews but quickly switched to Jackie as I was paying my entire rent just to get my hair done with Megan. I quickly learned that Jackie is a much better hair cutter than she is a colorist, however, the ignorance and overall attitude of not caring about anybody but themselves just shocked me and made a disgusting impression on me.
The people who work here are truly, awful, terrible people. The four times I let Megan or Jackie touch my hair, I heard nothing but disgusting things about fellow employees and other clients. She literally complained to me about a 17 year old client one time. Ridiculous. Abby and David seem way too nice to work for this salon. I would not recommend this salon if you are not a sociopath/​don’t want to be around other sociopaths. You’d be better off at Supercuts.

Once made an appointment, went there, and found the place closed up. No way to contact them wherever they were, but I tried the business phone to see what was going on. It seems they didn’t remember to show up. I had come miles. Never again. They never even tried to contact me as they did have my number. I guess their unrealistic fee makes them think they can treat one person anyway they want and not have to worry about their business.

Megan Graham Beauty is a gorgeous little salon on Newbury Street just above Alex and Ani. You can feel the good vibes when you walk in the door of the all white shabby chic salon. David greeted me and was a joy to chat with. Jackie cut my hair and worked with me to get it just the way I wanted it and the blow out was stunning too! She’s also totally hilarious and down to earth which was refreshing.

Don’t book online as a first time client!
I was away on vacation and doing a little planning for my return home. On Tuesday December 29 I found Megan Graham online and was psyched to see I could book online. I booked for January 7^th. No where on the website did it say that I was required to talk to the salon in person before my appointment for any reason.
I return from vacation on Saturday afternoon and check my voicemail. On Wednesday Megan Graham’s salon called and left a message stating that they needed to speak with me to get my credit card information because of their 48 hour cancelation policy. If they did not receive a call back from me they would cancel my appointment. So of course I call immediately and get put on hold for a very long time. I call back several times but this continues to happen and I never speak to anyone. I email the salon and tell them I called but could not get in touch. I call again on Monday and get an answering service. I leave a message with an actual person. No one calls me back until Wednesday, and now they tell me they have canceled my appointment and I am free to call back to reschedule.
What a joke! If you need to talk to first time clients to get their information, don’t allow new clients to book online. I was away on vacation over the Christmas holidays. If I knew I needed to speak to someone on the phone I would not have booked with this salon when I did. This is very unprofessional and no way to advance a salon in a saturated market of talented colorist up and down Newbury Street. No need to make customers jump through hoops.

I found Megan and her talented team about a year ago. I had been a faithful client at another Newbury Street salon for 12 years and was extremely nervous about trying someone new, but I was ready for a change. I realize Megan is known for her magic with blondes, but I can attest that she is equally blessed with brunettes. I have thick, wavy hair and it was looking dull and damaged when I walked through the door at MGB. Megan was honest with me about the condition of my hair and the process it would take to get the right color and make my hair healthy again. In the past year, I’ve returned to the salon 5 times, and with every visit my hair looks healthier, shinier and the color is just beautiful. There’s no doubt the color services are pricey, but worth it — — every client that walks out of this salon looks stunning.
Jackie cuts my hair and she knows exactly how to shape and layer it. I can blow it out smooth or let it air-​dry into beachy waves… it’s so much easier to style now. I pay $ 100 for the cut and this is actually less than I used to pay, yet the cut is so much better. The salon itself is intimate and relaxing (compared to all the noisy, cold, industrial themed salons that line Newbury St). Megan’s team is a lovely group of professional, positive people who all take great care of their clients. Highly recommend!

I’ve been meaning to write this review for years and the time has finally come. Although sadly I’m based in San Francisco now and had to move away from Megan and her amazing team I can’t say enough good things about her salon.
First off, Megan is an artist. When I was living in Boston I followed her between each of her salons and was so happy when she started her own! She helped me craft the perfect shade of red for my hair and thanks to her it is my most complimented feature.
She’s also just an amazing person. I always looked forward to my appointments with her so we could catch up on life in her adorable salon.
The only thing I will say is don’t come here if you are in a hurry. Good hair color takes time so expect to be there for about 3 hours if you’re doing a color and blow out. But it is 100% worth the wait.
Miss you Megan, can’t wait till my next vist to Boston!

I received extensions from Bridget, who was very kind, professional, and responsive from the day of my consultation until the day the extensions were installed. This was my first experience with extensions, so I was a bit nervous, but Bridget gave great (and honest) advice about what would and would not work with my fine, thin hair, and the end result looks and feels fantastic!
All of the staff members with whom I’ve spoken have been very friendly and helpful, the salon itself is gorgeous and immaculately clean, and the online booking system is convenient. Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased!

Megan is a hair color genius. If you’re very particular about your locks, look no further than Megan. I moved to Boston in May, and I was so nervous about finding a good colorist. My natural color is dark blonde, and it can be extremely challenging to find someone who doesn’t turn me into a platinum blonde. Megan gives me natural looking highlights that don’t wash out my skin tone. The grow out process is also softer and less dramatic thanks to her skilled application. Megan is truly gifted, incredibly sweet and her shop is lovely. I highly recommend Megan and her talented team.

Jackie is the best stylist I’ve ever gone to in the 6 years I’ve lived in Boston! She really listens to what you want, doesn’t rush, and always seems to be having fun. I have naturally dark blonde hair and wanted some highlights going into summer. Jackie blended my natural color with the highlights so perfectly that my color still looked great 4+ months afterward. I just went back for my second appointment and Jackie made my hair look amazing once again. It’s expensive, yes, but when I only have to color my hair 3 times a year, the price tag is more than worth it. The salon is bright, beautiful, and clean. The customer service is second to none. Overall, I can’t recommend MGB enough.

A few months ago, I saw Jackie at MGB to enhance my natural blonde. I was new to Boston and nervous to colour my hair (it had been 6 years since I have coloured it!) Jackie did an amazing job consulting, the colour has grown out a bit now. Jackie promised that the natural blonde we selected wouldn’t need upkeep. She was right. Thank you so much Jackie, you’re also a very fun lady!

Let me start off by saying walking into this salon is like walking into a dream. The shabby chic décor is so bright and welcoming! I had a previous ombré color in my hair and wanted to brighten up the blonde for the summer. Christine took amazing care of my hair. I loved my ombré before, but after my appointment I realized the previous job didn’t even compare to the work she did! She gave me an incredible cut and blow dry as well. I have definitely found my new go to salon!

Megan and her staff are talented, professional and courteous. A beautiful salon which lives up to its reputation. Go ahead– treat yourself.

I love going to Megan Graham Beauty as my hair always looks perfect and dimensional. It is a little on the expensive side, but the color grows out so nicely on me that I really only need to go 2 – 3 times a year. Worth every penny!

Absolutely the best salon for blonds in Boston. You’re lucky if you get an appointment. She books months in advance, so I always schedule right after my appointment. I’ve been a costumer of hers for three years now and am extremely pleased with the results every time. It’s expensive, but I think spending money on your hair is worth it – it’s the accessory you wear everyday.

Two orders of business.
First, haircuts — how many of us girls with long hair like when hairstylists get scissor happy? If you raised your hand, you’re probably alone on this one…
So as many of you who frequent MGB probably know already, Crystal is no longer with MGB :(which is sad face for me. But it’s kind of okay because Megan really hires the best of the best: Jaclyn gave me my most recent haircut and it was PERFECT — not too much off the length, layered and thinned a bit.
I’m always very nervous going into a haircut. (NO ONE can take away my mermaid hair!) But Megan and her glam squad have definitely earned my trust.
Second — how many of us like it when our hair looks like it’s been dyed two different colors once we haven’t seen our coloring specialist for a couple months? Once again, if you raised your hand, you’re alone. again.
I HATE HATE when you can look at someone and blantantly see where their natural hair ends and their last dye job begins. For those of you that can afford to visit your colorist every time you need a touch-​up, I’m very jealous of you. Unfortunately for me, I am a college student. Megan knows how to make sure my coloring doesn’t make me look like a dipped paint brush — and I am so extremely ecstatic about that.
So. What are you waiting for? Do you NOT want (your hair) to look like a VS model?

One of my girlfriends saw MGB featured on Chronicle as the Best of Boston for Hair Extensions and I still can’t get over how natural and amazing her hair looks, so I decided to go to Megan for myself to see if she could do something for my fine, damaged hair. My hair looks thicker just from her color and it feels and looks super healthy. And shiny!
Also…BEST HAIRCUT EVER. Today a stranger said she loved my hair and asked me where I got my haircut. This has NEVER happened to me before. Crystal cut and shaped my hair into an über flattering January Jones-​ish style. I love Crystal!
