Panificio is Beacon Hill’s best neighborhood eatery. Family owned and operated for nearly 15 years, Panificio offers a unique combination of casual dining and award winning food. Panificio is open daily for breakfast, brunch and lunch while offering a range of delectable pastries, omelets, sandwiches, salads and more. We turn into a full service dinner destination at night with incredible menu options for people of all ages as well as a host of wines and beers to choose from. Come stop in, say hi and grab a bite to eat during the day, or enjoy a terrific sit-down dinner in one of Boston’s most historic and elegant neighborhoods on any night.
History
Established in 1996.
Inspired by trips to Europe and the bakeries and restaurants of Paris, Rome, Munich and Madrid, it was in 1995 shortly after graduating from Syracuse University that Chris Spagnuolo was biking down Charles St. and decided to open PANIFICIO in the heart of Beacon Hill, Boston.
The restaurant started by offering pastries, lunch and brunch, but we soon realized that our friendly neighbors and customers around Beacon Hill wanted more options. Always looking to please, we started to provide a full breakfast in the morning and opened the restaurant for full service dinner at night.
Now open all-day everyday, PANFIICIO continues to be Beacon Hill’s only top dining destination that has retained that neighborhood feel. Fresh baked muffins, croissants, cookies, puff pastries and tarts are among the wide variety of bakery options available for take out or sit down in our cozy little piece of Europe here on Beacon Hill. Inspired by a life brought up in bakeries and a passion for baking that resonated through many past family generations, Chris opened the doors of PANIFICIO in the winter of 1997 on a cold January morning. Coffee, pastries and fresh baked bread were an instant hit and the neighborhood immediately welcomed the restaurant with open arms. PANIFICIO soon started offering lunch sandwiches and fresh soups and expanded to brunch on the weekends shortly thereafter.
While Chris and the other original bakers were never trained in a culinary school, they relied on the lessons from their parents and grandparents to help make PANIFICIO what it is today.
Now the restaurant continues to provide that breakfast, brunch and lunch and has also opened up its doors as a full service restaurant for dinner. Though Chris still does a lot of the baking, our executive chef and our menus reflect the commitment to excellence and the pride we have in our food and our service.
