Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel

Room was very nice and clean, but the reason for this review was for the gentleman named Michael I believe that checked us in. He was very nice, very accommodating, and when we asked him questions about local restaurants he was super helpful. Great visit

Staring with the positives, this is a beautiful location and a gorgeous hotel. The lobby is stunning, the hotel restaurant is like a pretty painting. The gentlemen at the entrance were courteous and helpful and humble. The ladies at the front desk were cheery welcoming and kind. I loved my room; the walk in shower was extremely romantic.
Now for why I gave it 3 stars… I arrived earlier than my company usually has its employees begin. So I called the service line to ensure I was still getting free wifi. This is important for my job. The man I talked to was short, rude, and uninterested. There was some misunderstanding as to why I was or wasn’t getting free wifi, and before I got a full explanation he hastily hung up. I chalked it up as a guy having a bad night.
The three star nail in the coffin was my call to request some utensils. On top of the lady I talked to being a bit grumpy, it was absurdly hard to get a spoon and a fork. First they wanted to charge me 4 dollars for delivery, and I just said, «I’ll come down and get it.» Then they wanted to charge me for using real utensils, so they suggested I just use their plastic set… I said ‘alright’… They didn’t offer to bring it up so I went down to the lobby to retrieve my fork and spoon and knife.
I know this is an EXTREMELY high class problem and I might sound quite snooty, but this was annoying to me as I’ve never had such a difficult time getting a fork from a hotel. Also; talking to two grumpy employees was enough to make me feel unwanted and grumpy myself.
That all being said I got the spaghetti lobster carbonara from the hotel restaurant and it was amazing. Check it out. Just don’t ask anyone for utensils… Apparently it’s a tender subject.

After we landed at Boston-​Logan, we couldn’t wait to get to our oasis at the Renaissance. Fast check-​in with friendly staff (although the valet is a bit slow). We did enjoy our romantic dining experience and wonderful meal. Extremely comfortable beds, clean room with low noise. I felt like a brand new man after a few laps in the pool, then relaxing in the jacuzzi. I’m a lifetime platinum member, and this hotel is one of my favorites.

We stayed at the Renaissance for what might be, arguably, the most insane night of the year — New Years Eve. A night like this is a true testament to the ability of hotel staff to stay sane, remain kind and courteous and still deliver exceptional customer service.
On check-​in, my husband was carrying a 12-​pack of beer and a bottle of champagne that we were going to take with us to a party. He was respectfully approached by a security guard who indicated that we had to store the alcohol in the lobby as it wasn’t allowed up to the room. We didn’t mind as we weren’t going to be drinking it up there anyway, so we put it in the designated area and went to check in.
Even though it was extraordinarily busy, (I mean, I have been to the Renaissance before to see a friend of mine perform in their lounge, and I’ve never seen the volume of people inside as I did that night), I was immediately greeted by front desk clerk (they were smartly fully staffed at the desk) who found the reservation and made quick work of checking us in.
Our room was great. We received two double-​beds instead of a king, but that was communicated as a possibility when I made the reservations. It didn’t matter much as it really was just a place to crash in the city after a night on the town for NYE.
The room was clean, well-​appointed and smelled great. The bathroom was spotless. The bed linens were spotless as well. The comforters here are top-​notch. Just a great, comfy sleeping experience.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was very expensive ($ 399 for the night), however, considering that it was NYE I was actually expecting it to be a lot more. Great location!

Hotel is beautiful, but not the greatest. We were welcomed and when we checked in the girl tending to us was quite rude. The other workers were nice. Our room was clean and each time we came back it smelled good. If you want wifi you have to pay which I find absurd due to the price you’re paying for. We only had basic cable, and we’ve stayed at cheaper hotels which do offer cable. The complimentary tea and coffee was okay, only two bags of tea a day. I wouldn’t back because in my
Opinion you can get something that’s the same for a cheaper price.

Great location if you want to do anything along the Seaport or even the North End. It is also very close to the airport…10 to 15 minutes max… depending of course on Boston traffic.
They have a restaurant and lobby bar on site… so if you want to grab a drink or a quick bite you are all set. If not, there are plenty of other options about 30 seconds away… depending on how quickly you can scoot. They also have a private dining room in the main restaurant that seats about 10 people. Perfect for a quick meeting.
The rooms and bathrooms are nice… nothing spectacular, but they are clean and offer plenty of room considering that you are in Boston. If you can score a corner room or anything with a water view… do it.
The Concierge Lounge is huge, but always super packed. If you go down for breakfast get there early enough to secure a seat and enough grub. I believe they have a Fitness Room, but I honestly haven’t seen it. I always pack my gear, but end up having a little too much drink t check it out.
Overall, a great hotel that I have visited many times and will continue to book when I’m in Boston.

Beautiful property but valet is insanely slow. I’ve been to a dozen events there in the last 3 years and have yet to wait less than 30 minutes for my car. Doesn’t leave a good impression. Now I think twice before I attend anything there!

My first time in Boston and I had no clue what would be «a good, happening area» for a decent price for my boyfriend & I to stay in. Happy to say this hotel was a great choice! The Renaissance is in the seaport district which is by a lot of restaurants and bars (& the harpoon brewery) in walking distance and right on the water! You can walk or take a short drive to get to other main parts of the city, like Fanueil Hall, Quincy Market, Back Bay, etc. The valet service worked for us perfectly! We were able to get our car whenever we needed, return to the hotel and not worry about parking (totally worth it for a quick drive&go). If you want to be in an upscale location, for a reasonable price, and able to get right into the heart of the city with their historic feels, I would definitely recommend staying here!

I came to a conference at the Boston exhibition center and this hotel is in such a Great location. If you come in from Boston Logan, you can just take the silver line and get off literally right opposite the hotel. A lot of decent restaurants nearby but The restaurant/​bar onsite are just ok… The Starbucks in the lobby is also a subpar Starbucks but still better than nothing
The service is top notch, nice gym facility (24 hrs) and pool. The only problem is the normal room is a bit subpar for the price. Not much amenities were provided in room unless I asked (like toothbrush tooth paste and slippers). House keeping did not bring me new toothbrush toothpaste when they threw away the one I half used from the night before. Never gave me new laundry bag so it was a pain for me to have to call every night to ask for this and that. Then I needed to wait at least 10 minutes to get those items. The room/​hotel itself is not well designed at all… Maybe too vintage and ugly for me
Also, they charged $ 16 per day for in room wifi … But if you have Marriott membership and book the room thru the website then you will get free internet
In short, prime location, ok service, subpar facility and amenities, $$$$ expensive

Pricey, BUT worth every penny! Beautiful hotel, very clean, conveniently located and such a beautiful view. All amenities at the hotel are great, good dining options and cool bar for the night time.

On September 12^th, we held our wedding reception at the Renaissance Waterfront hotel. We had the fortune to work with two great coordinators at the hotel.
The food was awesome, we had the beef w/​lobster ravioli, chicken w/​polenta and a vegetarian dish. All the food was served HOT and fresh. There were no complaints from the guests on the food, which is saying a lot for me! The venue was beautiful, we booked the ballroom with floor to ceiling windows (I believe it is called the Aegean ballroom). The hotel rooms were great and the service was above and beyond expectations. Would recommend this hotel for any event in the future.

Great location to the Seaport, nicely appointed rooms and friendly staff. I had eaten in the restaurant before, but never stayed at the hotel. It is definitely worth including in the mix while in town along with the Hyatt, Westin and Intercontinental.

I was in town for a conference and chose this place since the Westin was not available.
Now, everyone at this hotel with the exception of a front desk clerk one night was very pleasant. The bartender was quick and friendly, the concierge was very kind, but I was disappointed in the size of the room. It was very, very small. I like the look and feel of it being modern and all, but it was cramped. Maybe this works for people who travel alone for business, but my husband was along and two double beds doesn’t work for us.
What really ticked me off was the curt response I got from the front desk when I called to inquire if there was a noise ordinance. There was a concert across the way on the waterfront and it was loud. I get it — I’m old, I’ve been walking around all week at a conference, eating shitty food, I’m out of my time zone, it’s hot and muggy and I just needed some sleep.
I can appreciate music and all that, but I called the front desk to ask if they knew when the concert across the street would end. I prefaced with, «I understand you are not sponsoring the concert…»
I get a «Not sure ma’am.»
I asked again, «What time do they normally get over? Is there a noise ordinace?»
«Not sure ma’am. I suppose I could ask around…»
I just hung up.
When I stopped at the desk the next day to bitch, I was told there is an 11:00 noise ordiance. That’s all the dude had to tell me the night before and I would not have been so annoyed at him. Even post it in the lobby or something.
All in all, an okay hotel, but not my kind of place.

My mom booked two rooms and left a comment of needing two double beds. We came in at 2:15PM in hopes of being able to get early check in, but no rooms were ready and well it does state in the print that it isn’t guaranteed that we can get in… Its such a bummer. Got our keys at 3:45PM (check in is at 4PM — talk about EXTREMELY late?!) and the keys were demagnetized –_​– so had to get my mom go back down which was a waste of our time.
Got into the room and was super disappointed on the size of a room with double beds. It shocked me how tiny it was!!! I think hotel rooms in San Francisco (where I’m from) are bigger and probably half the price. It was about $ 550 from checking in Saturday and leaving Monday. Shake my head… It was shocking how expensive it was too because my cousin planned accordingly for his family members coming from out of town to attend his wedding to stay here. Did the Renaissance even give my cousin a group discount… I wouldn’t be surprised if not. And I don’t even think my cousin stayed at the hotel because of the price — but I would have thought that bride/​groom when they do group bookings they get their room for free but I guess not! Anyway, we had two rooms. Luckily the second room was a handicap room so it was slightly bigger with a bigger bathroom and an extension part for the shower, but not like my family and I spent much time at the hotel room besides showering and sleeping.
We also got the chance to check out the pool and again, to my disappointment the pool was literally 1 swimming lane. Lol, how is anyone suppose to actually swim if they wanted a work out? The jacuzzi was also very tiny… And pretty dark green/​bubbly. Not sure if that is a sign of uncleanliness but I definitely felt a bit of a musky layer of yuck after exiting the pool.
I give this place 2 stars because of the valet service being very punctual and the employees that help maintain the hotel in the clean condition it is in. The bar to the right of entering the hotel looked pretty amazing, but I didn’t have time to check it out. Maybe next time…
If I were to come back to Boston, I think I’d want to stay at a hostel…

Greeted with warm welcoming team, check in was fast! My room had a great view of the harbor! The pool is small, but they always had fresh fruit available after you seam your laps!
The noise level was minimal, the carpet clean & the room smelled fresh!

Great hotel in terms of quality but the price is pretty high. There was a party going on next to my room so I had to call security to sleep but the front desk was pretty responsive. Parking is also extremely overpriced but you are going to pay quite a bit in Boston for parking. Nice hotel lobby and bar.

Love this place! Great area, on point valet service (not too expensive, under $ 50 for overnight parking and they let us keep our car there until 5pm the next day), clean hotel. Room had a mini fridge also.
Great customer service. My friend had an issue that was fixed right away.
Easy to get to from the highway and surrounded by lots of great restaurants and bars.
Hotel bar had great espresso martinis and other cocktails.
Can’t wait to go back!

I was in Boston for two days to take a deposition and stayed at the Renaissance in Boston’s Seaport District. The location is a little bit out of the way, but for work, it was a perfect oasis for me since I had to lock myself in a room and finish my outlines.
I took advantage of the room service, exercise room, business center, and hotel restaurant. All these amenities offer business travelers convenience and predictability. The room was modern, spacious, and gave me an excellent view of the harbor.
If I’m in Boston for work, I’m sure I’ll stay here again.

We lucked upon this location while looking for a place to stay when in the city for a volleyball event at the Convention Center. We had a reservation at another high end hotel, at the last minute we learned they were not able to honor our reservation for a room with a second bed.
The property is very nice and in a great location and in walking distance of the convention center and a lot of great places to eat.
The staff was great and got us into our room two hours before check in because our daughter had a 2 pm game.

Clean is #1
Comfortable beds, nice shower.
Starbucks in lobby
Location is awesome with a upfront harbor view.
3 minute drive to city center
We left a blue tooth iPod speaker behind and contacted loss prevention, who located it (lost items are rarely returned, let’s face it) and shipped it home to us.
