Sameka Dental

I don’t usually like to say or be negative about others, but please be cautious if you decide to attend this dental office. Unprofessional staff, poor treatment plan and overall shady.

I have gone here for my bi-​annual cleanings for several years. The dental hygienists are super friendly and gentle. However, every… single…time I go here I feel like they are up-​selling me for a service I don’t need. The office manager is pushy and makes a habit of pressuring you into products and treatments that you do not need. I have since found a new dental office who, by the way, found the services/​treatments recommended by Sameka absurd and unnecessary.

I would agree with other reviews here. The hygienist and receptionist were very nice, kind, knowledgeable, ect… Then they told me I needed 3 fillings. 2 weeks later I’m still in horrible pain, have jagged fillings, and am looking for a second opinion. The Dr was 30 mins late to my appt. When she arrived she said she just lives down the road… She drilled me and left me in the chair for 30, yes 30 mins. My Novocain wore off. When I told her, she told me that I was fine repeatedly. She came back to fill the drilled holes in my teeth, and proceeded to watch TV while trying to fill them! I would close my mouth when she was watching TV, and she would get upset with me, almost shouting, «open your mouth wider!» I was lying in the chair crying from anxiety and pain while she kept telling me I was fine. The dentist was rude to the other employees as well, shouting at them while working on my teeth. That made me very uncomfortable. I am just so disappointed. I really should have heeded some warnings on this page prior to letting them do my fillings. I am certainly paying now, with time, pain, and money to have this fixed. I will NEVER go back. This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. This is the first negative Unilocal review I’ve written because I haven’t had an experience I have felt this way about prior.

Outstanding. Very efficient and friendly, from reception to dental employees. Very proficient. After a long stretch out of state, it was far too long between cleanings. They make an unpleasant experience bearable. I don’t have a lot of time for Unilocal reviews, but definitely had to provide the highest grade of positive feedback for anyone looking for the right dentist in the South Boston area.

I have been going to sameka for 5 years now and I fell in love with the people there at one point in time and let me just say the professionalism has gone down the drain Frances the head manager is terrible! So I haven’t been there in a while because of my accident and I had surgery of course you have to heal she asks me the dumbest question Ever! why did I get into the accident??? she’s heartless & unprofessional there are many times I have ripped her a new Anal because of her unprofessional personality and she tries to train the other secretaries that way of life as well she tries to bully people to come in they have trouble keeping appointments I wonder why, maybe if they didn’t charge ridiculously and try to get all there specialist in one day instead of charging your dental insurance illegally for bull crap! You didn’t have done in that day that’s why they make you come back for 3 months straight at a time I’m looking for another dental place this is why dental insurances in Healthcare is so shady you get dentists who illegally steal money benefits from your insurance company and the secretaries helps big time! This is exactly what they do Steal!#

I agree with the last post. This place has gone downhill since it was sold a half dozen years back. The last time I went for a cleaning I didn’t even see a dentist and the hygienist watched the tv in the room as she cleaned. I went back for a quick filling and the hygienist again watched tv as she was working in my mouth. The very new dentist, when I flinched, said to me, «You can’t move like that! Don’t move!». Lovely. I have also felt like I was being sold into fillings and services. The Tvs in the rooms was the last draw. Plenty of other places to choose from.

This place is horrible. They forced me to get fillings I did not want. The receptionist is horrible and rude. Nobody there knows how to process insurance or billing. They overcharge for their services. The dentist was watching TV while she was filling my cavities.
THEY ARE NOT PARTICIPATING DENTISTS FOR GUARDIAN DENTAL even though they claim to be.
Nothing was covered under insurance because they billed it wrong and I was charged over $ 1000.
Do not go here.

Went in today for a cleaning. Its the 2^nd time they did a cleaning that a 5 year old could have done better. Yes, I need a lot of work done, but cannot afford to have it all done now. However, I still feel that since my Insurance is PAYING for a cleaning, I should have a proper one done! My cleaning literally took less than 2 minutes. The hygienist put the paste on the FRONT of my teeth, very quickly & never even touched the BACK of my teeth. Other than using the instrument to apply the paste, she never used it to polish anything. She told me to rinse and that was it. DONE! CLEANING OVER! I usually hate going to the Dentist because I’m always in anticipation of the pain… but not at Sameka. They don’t do anything that causes any pain! They don’t Polish or Floss. When I told them I was unhappy with my cleaning they basically told me that since I needed so much work done, there was really no need to do a more thorough cleaning! WOW!!! Wonder if they’ll tell my Insurance Co. that & just bill them for ¼ of a cleaning? I will NEVER be returning to them!

I have been going there for years. People are amazing there and VERY nice. I highly recommend it

WORST DENTIST PRACTICE EVER!!!
Sameka went ahead with a cleaning when they knew my insurance wouldn’t cover it. I called billing and the lady told me that they are supposed to do a courtesy check and that the receptionist must have forgotten that day, so I was billed $ 117 because they «forgot» to do a courtesy check that day. After telling the lady on the phone I wasn’t going to pay for the cleaning she said that she would just send me to collections. I am a business owner and I would NEVER treat any of my customers this way.
DON’T GO TO SAMEKA DENTAL

The dental hygienist are all awesome. As for the dentist they are fantastic, I am so grateful that one of the receptionist recommended it to me.
I beg to disagree with the assessment of the first person on this site. I find that all the receptionist are cooperative and helpful each one has a delightful outlook, never an issue with changing appointments. Always willing to work with me on my times.
Perhaps, it is how I approach them that makes the difference.
All and all everyone is good at what they do here.

I had been to Sameka a few times growing up, but the last time I was there was just this past month for a teeth cleaning. The dentist only cleaned by bottom teeth and just went over the top a little bit to make it seem like he did something. It was so quick that I didn’t feel like I got a good cleaning.
I have had my teeth cleaned in other clinics before and the dentists took their time that when I left my teeth really felt cleaner… I didn’t get that feeling from Sameka.
The worst part of the time I was there was the fact that the dentist told me I need braces! What!!! I have the most straight teeth. Everyone in my family has straight teeth and I’m 21 years old no dentist has ever told me that I need braces before!
I asked him for advice on getting my wisdom teeth out and he said that they do the surgery at the clinic. I made my appointment and went home to do some research. When I called to ask if they do general or local anesthesia the rude receptionist told me they do local. The dentist wants to take all 4 of my teeth out in the same day with only local anesthesia?! I told the receptionist I needed a referral to go somewhere else and she told me they don’t give referrals. That’s weird.
I had to call my insurance and when I called the receptionist at Sameka again she changed her story and said that they do give referrals, but only to certain doctors and the doctors that they refer to don’t take my insurance. Weird again.
So I had to go back and forth talking to my insurance and the rude receptionist at Sameka who then by the third phone call told me she had no idea what I was talking about because she had never spoken to me about the issue of not giving me a referral.
In the end I got a referral, but it’s not valid because they don’t take my insurance.

The dental hygentist and dentist staff are all awesome — they are friendly and knowledgable — However, there is one receptionist that is so rude I won’t go back there. Whenever I called to make or change an appointment she was just full of attitude even when it was 48 hours in advance. She even gave me an attitude when I called to make an appointment and wouldn’t come in the same day!
The last thing I need on a busy hectic day is to battle with some snotty receptionist over a teeth cleaning and I don’t owe any explanation as to why I need to reschedule or cancel my appointments.
