SIP Café first opened its doors on a crisp spring day in April of 2009.

I can still remember the first time that I experienced the wonders of coffee. I was about to have an interview for a manager position at a café called Torrefazione Italia. I was presented with a café latte with a beautiful heart within it… not only did it look amazing, but the taste was so creamy, smooth, chocolately deliciousness!

I ended up becoming a manager of this very café and remained in this space for 5 years. After enduring some changes in ownership, I ended up moving on and ended up managing the Steaming Kettle Starbucks for about 1 ½ years, before moving on to a great opportunity with the George Howell Coffee Company.

I learned more than I even could have imagined there, and was lucky enough to be able to taste and critique coffee with George Howell himself. The time was finally right for me to finally open up my own café.

Thus, SIP Café was born within the beautiful park in Post Office Square in downtown Boston.

Um this might be the worst cup of coffee yet. I work across the way and today was my first day popping in not a good idea Got to my office and opened the lid and all the milk was curb at the top never again.

A small-​glass gazebo in Post Office Square Park, in the financial district. The autumn folliage illuminates the café, and makes the outside seating even more pleasurable. Had a dark roasted black coffee which was brewed nicely but I hear the Noccia Bella is a must try! Their house coffee is roasted by George Howell! and this week they have 30% off if you follow them on twitter!

Excellent cold brew coffee in a cool little spot located at the edge of a park. Crowded but the line moved swiftly. High quality coffee and knowledgeable barristas. Worth a visit. Seems like a good place to relax and enjoy your coffee.

Great place to grab coffee and pastries! Love that they have almond milk and soy as milk alternatives. There’s great outdoor seating when it’s nice out, and a couple seats indoors. I don’t love the lunch, but great for the classic coffee shop items.

I hate to be an ass but the experience I had was blah.
I walked in at 1030am, hoping to grab a breakfast sandwich, and they had none. So I moved to plan B, order a lunch sandwich.
I decided to get the mozzarella sandwich with prosciutto (extra $ 1.50) and of course they forgot to put the prosciutto. They had 2 kinds of drip coffee, a normal one and a featured one. I decided to get the featured one, they were nice enough to let me sample a little of it before ordering. And then they forgot to give me my coffee. I had to remind them about it…
I know they had good intentions here, everyone was really nice, but I was disappointed that 1) my order was messed up 2) they forgot to give me my coffee until I asked them.

such a cute café! That is what drew me in for sure. The Pumpkin Spice latte is what I had ordered but it did not have a Pumpkin taste to it at all.
**Update: I guess I was misinformed when I was in the café that day but breakfast sandwiches are only $ 4… I may swing by next time I am in town to give it a try and an updated review!

I work across the street and have given this place a few tries. Maybe it’s just me, but the service has consistently been horrible. I am usually received with a grunt, not hello, and perhaps I’m not used to the nouveau hipster ways… but I’m not enthusiastic about supporting this place. It’s usually in disarray, someone actually put a box of garbage bags in front of me while I was ordering. I mean, do your thing, but don’t make me feel like I’m in your way. In addition to a bored glare, I feel like 13 people behind the counter are usually having prolonged conversations about nothing, this is while I wait for them to acknowledge my existence.
Moving on to the food, the gouda tomato soup is kind of grainy…

I don’t know why i haven’t reviewed this yet– it has become one of my go-​to breakfast spots during the week. I try to pack a breakfast, but when I don’t have homemade scrambled eggs to heat up, I go over to Sip for what I would consider the most healthful breakfast sandwich in the area. I get the Mushroom Breakfast sandwich (they also have a ham one) and it is AMAZING. Soft chewy bread, melted cheese that they somehow manage to contain between the bread and not all over the paper that surrounds the sandwich, flavorful tomato, egg, and soft flavorful mushrooms. SO. GOOD. Disclaimer, I am pregnant and this may have become one of my major cravings, literally can not get enough of this sandwich, I could eat two a day if I wasn’t so concerned about breaking the 200lb mark :) Service is great, slower moving place but kind of goes with the vibe and I tend not to get annoyed because I know they make their food with care. Servers have always been friendly to me.

For an enjoyable breakfast in the nearby park, I had a ginger-​lemon iced tea with lemonade Arnold Palmer and a breakfast sandwich on ciabatta with egg, mushroom, tomato and asiago tea. The breakfast sandwich was very good and the Arnold Palmer was great. It was reasonably priced and quick. The baked goods all looked delicious as well. The only con was the inside was quite warm even at 9 AM when it wasn’t that warm out, so not sure inside seating would be comfortable at all.

College Station, TX
Sip Café has become a regular stopping point for me. For coffee, sometimes I get the Noccia Bella, and sometimes I get the non-​sweetened mocha (oh so chocolatey). Both are good coffee, and have a good latte mouthfeel.
If I’m there for breakfast there are plenty of intriguing pastries that are just fine (if not up to the standards of the North End), and if I’m there for lunch I can grab a sandwich and it will be tasty, filling, and overall good (but not great).
The customer service is always great, and I never have to wait long.
In short, Sip Café is astoundingly reliable and I have nothing bad to say about my experiences. Given my predilection for finding both the best and worst of everyplace I go that makes it pretty amazing in my book.
Still, it’s not the best at anything. There are better sandwiches (e.g., Sam LaGrasse’s), better coffees (e.g., Thinking Cup or Caffe Paradiso), and better pastries (e.g., Maria’s) but each of those is a bit of a walk and none of them can handle all three categories well (or at all). So I highly recommend Sip Café, even as I hope that they’ll up their game just slightly.

I love the breakfast sandwiches here. Lattes and mochas are awesome! Smoothies with REAL fruit. It gets busy in the morning but the line moves pretty fast. The lunch sandwiches and salads aren’t anything special.

As beautiful as this building is, the salads here are truly not worth the money. The worst feeling is when you eat something and think to yourself «I could have made this at home for about a quarter of the price…» I ordered the spinach and kale salad (~$ 6.50) and it was just that. Nothing special, nothing unique. I’ve had some awesome salads that make me feel better about eating rabbit food, but this salad just made me feel like a rabbit. The coffee was quite good, though. I wouldn’t mind dropping by again for a sandwich&coffee when it’s a bit warmer out and the view isn’t obstructed by 4foot-​high snowbanks.

My friend and I met up for a coffee break or lunch here a few times. I’ve had tea, but I haven’t tried the coffee.
The best thing on the menu is the coffee cake. So delicious. I’ve tried other, unmemorable, pastries, but the coffee cake was rich and sinful and worth the weight.
The staff is friendly. The lines are always long, but they do their best to keep it moving. There’s plenty of seating since it’s right inside of Post office square. If you want a table, you may have a harder time. Benches are much more prevalent.

Such a great little coffee shop. It has really great coffee.
My husband got the unsweetened mocha with hazelnut and I got a vanilla americano. I would really recommend the mocha if you have never tried the unsweetened one before… Delish!!!
** they use monin syrups. My fav!
It is situated next to a beautiful little park. And the café is glass backed. Get your joe and take in the beauty.

Talk to Jared Mancini if you get a chance. He runs the joint and will tell you the best food to order and the best drink to drink.
The place has been here for five eyes and it’s probably going to be here forever — seriously, check it out. It’s worth the walk through the financial district.

Sip Café is the glass structure located on a corner of the Post Office Square park. The interior was deceptively larger than I has assumed from the outside, as they have a few tables (maybe 8?) for those who may wish to dine within.
Sandwiches, soups, salads are offered, however, my DC opted for the daily quiche, snagging the last piece of the $ 5.25 bacon spinach quiche — and this was at 11:30am! The other savory option was already sold out, so I went with the vegetable quiche option (squash roasted tomato) for $ 5.35. Both arrived with a small salad on the side, a touch overdressed. To fill out my meal, I also had a cup of butternut squash with apple soup for under $ 3.
The quiche arrived first, so I inquired about the missing soup which, it turns out, they had erroneously packed to go. I was glad to see them using a spoon to retrieve the bread from the baggie instead of their bare hands as they poured out a fresh serving for me.
The quiche made for a nice light meal. The soup was okay, though not as sweet as I had hoped, being more a savory sort.
