My new favorite Japanese restaurant in Boston! Cold noodle and chirashi don are really amazing! All sashimi are fresh!

Two of us stopped in for a quick dinner before attending a nearby Boston Symphony Orchestra concert. The very extensive menu was a little puzzling at first, but we found our way through just fine. We had sashimi, two sushi dishes, and seaweed salad. We were in Japan earlier this year and the tastes brought us back to that wonderful visit. Service here was fast and friendly. There are about ten tables, many of which appeared to be occupied by young Japanese people. The restaurant does not have a license for any alcohol, but a nearby liquor store can provide sake(not chilled, alas), beer, and anything else needed.

This place is honestly so hidden on Mass Ave. I decided to come here and try it out and I’m pretty glad I did. I was sat down pretty quickly and ordered right away since I kinda knew what I wanted. My food also came by pretty quick also. I got the tempura udon and two slices of the salmon(sake) sashimi. The salmon was fresh and nicely prepared. I love raw salmon so this is always my go-to. The tempura udon satisfied my hunger. The noodles were perfectly cooked, not too hard and not too soft. The soup wasn’t much, just your usual soy sauced base soup. The shrimp tempura however didn’t really taste like tempura. I had a feeling that they fried it with something else but it was still good. Also, I felt like my tempura was a little too crispy. And I was a little bummed that they didn’t give me any tempura dipping sauce since many other restaurants did, but that’s alright since I had my soup. It is accessible the T, just get off at Symphony or Hynes Convention Center by the Green line and it’s just a small walk. But overall, great service and mediocre food.

This is a wonderful little place that I almost passed by, very glad I didn’t. Started with the Sashimi sampler and was pleased with all the pieces, best I’ve had, although I haven’t had a whole lot of it. Then there was the seafood ramen special, loved it, very good pieces of seafood, scallops and squid were perfect. Finished off the meal with green tea tiramisu special, another beautiful success, both flavors were well implemented. The atmosphere was nice, very personal feeling, but a little rough around the edges.

Always passed this place on the street, never went in. I’m at dinner here RIGHTNOW with a friend, and we are both upset we haven’t tried it sooner. The food is SOGOOD, the service is great, it’s tiny and pleasant, the fish is fresh, I could go on and on. We had the volcano and drum roll, and ordered another drum roll. Seriously, give this place a try! The prices are also great. Everyone always loves Symphony Sushi, but in my opinion this is better and cheaper.

My favorite in workdays. It’s near my office, and provides great beef don.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here to get lunch on our way to the New England Aquarium. I had the Boston roll and a small house salad with the iced oolong tea and my girlfriend had one of the lunch combos. The quality of the roll and the fish was pretty good. I’ve had better quality tuna, but I’ve also had much worse. The only downside was the tea being served in a can because I expected that it would be served fresh. That certainly isn’t a deal breaker and I’m sure my girlfriend and I will be back here again before we leave the Back Bay area.

Authentic Japanese Sushi! The services are magnificent. I enjoy eating Torched Fatty Salmon. It costs $ 2.50 per piece.

Came here a while back with the boyfriend, we ordered three rolls and wound up splitting the sushi down the middle. We got a rainbow roll, but I can’t remember anything about the other two aside from the insane amount of tempura flake on top of them. They weren’t memorable enough for me to recall anything other than that, but we did eat every single piece. This place is nothing remarkable, but they do have a lunch special I’d be interested in checking out at a later date.

It is a nice small environment. Feels intimate. I like their beef Don and rolls. For the location and price, the food is decent. So go ahead and enjoy~

Great prices in a good location, very mediocre food. I had salmon sashimi($ 4/2pcs) and a spicy yellowtail roll($ 6ish) for lunch on a Saturday. The salmon was ok, but the yellotail was not fresh– didn’t smell, taste or even look right. The place was nearly empty, and the server was… let’s just say very«hands-off». They have a button you press if you need anything, so the waiter definitely does not«wait» on you. Atmosphere was nice and calm, just what I needed during a quick lunch break while working on the weekend. All in all, this place will do in a pinch, but definitely not anything to seek out.

Just had their sushi, usually go somewhere but decided to give this a shot. As we ordered it, picked it up, had no real interaction with the people or the interior establishment. This review is solely on the food: The basic tuna roll wasn’t tuna. It looked like tuna but was no tuna, it was the cheap compressed crap. And secondly it went bad, smelled horrid. After one bite, I was already sick. The spider roll was all bread no crab — sauce was bitter with no kick at all. The following hours I had an eventful 2.5 hours of hugging my toilet and wanting to die. I must have gotten insanely unlucky or this place doesn’t follow sushi protocol. The fact the sushi chefs were not Japanese might have been a big hint. Won’t be returning, my esophagus and anus can only take so much.

Dropped by here once and not sure I’d return. Maybe for something other than the sushi. Don’t get me wrong… the sushi wasn’t bad. The sushi was just unimpressive and pretty small. There’s nothing worse than leaving a restaurant and still feeling hungry. The inside out rolls were very small compared to any other place I’ve ever had. Even the nigiri was small with barely any rice and such a thin slice of salmon. I’ve enjoyed pre-packaged sushi from the shelf at the grocery store more than this.

Came here with one of my friends to get the lunch special — both of us got the udon specials since it was cold, but I got the chef’s choice sushi and my friend got a spicy tuna roll. For less than $ 10, you get udon, rice, salad, and the sushi stuff which was definitely worth it in my opinion. The fish is ok quality — not especially great, but not shoddy either. Honestly didn’t expect too much out of this place since it only had 9 reviews on Unilocal, but it turned out to be pretty good! :)

I like sushi and this place was a good discover. The server was sweet and recommend what to get and it was yummy! Small place with sushi bar. I wonder why its not popular being on mass ave. Definitely a good place.

I love these guys but what sushi place suddenly stops selling sushi for the past month during lunch hours. It has to do with the rice and inspection.

This place has better than average sushi, and the rest of their food isn’t bad either. The problem is, in the last 2 times I’ve been there, they’ve been out of rice. The two times were spaced a couple weeks apart and I was thoroughly surprised that it had happened again when it happened the 2nd time. The prices are good, during lunch you can get 5 pieces nigiri and a roll for 10 dollars, just be wary that they may be out of rice.

This place deserves more love. I thoroughly enjoyed their sashimi and udon. Very rarely do I get to say that the sashimi is sweet, and while I don’t know if that means fresh, it’s damn good in my book. The beef udon was very well balanced, and a perfect follow up to the sashimi. It’s like I achieved gastric zen in an hour.

2.5 stars They have a fair amount of choices– sushi, bento boxes, udon, salads, etc. Your usual Japanese restaurant that doesn’t really specialize in one particular thing. Their udon lunch specials are a pretty good deal– you have a few choices: maki rolls, sushi, or sashimi I think? I got the spicy salmon maki roll with mine. It comes with a salad, bowl of udon, and rice all for about $ 9. The roll was pretty good, but nothing special. The spicy sauce just seemed like sriracha mixed with mayo, but didn’t taste like other spicy mayo’s I’ve had. It was also a good size and pretty filling. I wasn’t a fan of the udon though. The soup base was a little too sour than I’d like and the noodles seemed like they were cut up, so I kept getting short noodles I didn’t really touch my rice cause I was full from the roll. It’s really close to my apt, so I wouldn’t mind going back if I was craving Japanese, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
