Kim P reminded me that I need to Unilocal about Tom. I discovered his shop on last year’s holiday walk in Lower Mills. I hired him to frame a photo for me. It was an old black & white image (from city archives) of my mom’s childhood home in Philly.
Despite being absolutely swamped with projects (I waited behind several people just to speak with him), Tom took the time to make the project great. He sifted through frames to find ones he felt fit the era of the photo. And he spent more time choosing the right mat color than I could ever imagine. Who knew there were so many shades of gray, and that one shade would really make the difference in how a b/​w photo looks?
His attention to detail – and his ability to get the project completed before the holiday – were impressive. My mom LOVED the photo, and it hangs proudly at the entrance to her home.

I am still basking in the glow of the top-​notch service I received at Tom Fiske’s custom framing shop. After preparing to move and deciding that I was NOT going to pack around my academic degrees in their paper sleeves anymore, I went across the street (always, keeping it local) to have Tom help me. The level of care he showed for the project was impeccable: he asked about frames, matting, showed a number of different options, worked on the «wow» factor. I was amazed, largely because if I hadn’t reached my over-​it point, I would have just picked up something from the store and thrown some brokedown frame over it.
Personalized, custom framing – he is so personable, friendly, and frank that your experience will be amazing. I’m oozing, so I’ll stop. I just love this place and can’t wait to get my job when it’s done. AND, it doesn’t cost as much as you think it does (plus, he’ll work with you and give you different pricing options).
Finally, the art that he’s framed and is awaiting pick-​up is lovely to look at – it’s like you get your own little art show while you wait.
