Talener is primarily a placement agency for developers. The recruiters are very nice and will take the time to discuss your resume and strengths, but my primary complaint is that after getting to know me and reviewing my skills, they sent me to interview for two positions that I was not qualified for.
The main issue seems to be that I have «User Interface Designer» on my resume and after connecting on LinkedIn, they sent me to anything that said «UI» even if it was a developer position. Design and development aren’t the same thing. The big tip: Does the candidate preoccupy their time with typography, color psychology, and interface patterns (design), or are their strengths in learning coding languages and browser compatibility (development)?
Some people do both, but I emphasized that I can only code in a support role — do not send me to a developer role. And yet, I’ve wasted time with two interviews that both were surprised that I don’t code primarily and told me that I wasn’t qualified. Didn’t anybody read my resume before they scheduled this?
If they contact you and you’re a developer, it’ll probably work out fine though.
