The fish tacos are the best I’ve had in Boston. The rest of the tacos are also really good, the cabbage they put in with them is also really tasty. Most everything there is fresh, and I’ve yet to have anything bad. The burritos are ok. The combos are ok. You can get much the same at a lot of other places, but the tacos really stand out.

The staff was very friendly, but it wasn’t the best Mexican food experience I’ve had, but it also wasn’t the worst. I don’t think any Mexican food in Boston will ever match the deliciousness of San Diego/Tijuana Mexican food. The flavors were meh and not that tasty, but all in all it was edible and what I expect from a usual fast-food Mexican joint in Boston. It’s good hangover food for students, but I don’t think I’ll be making a repeat visit.

Very tasty, huge portions, plus the people there are super nice. This place is not selling itself as anything other than what it is: good food. Period.

This is the best small joint I have eaten in a long time. The steak was great and they even asked me if I wanted it medium or well done. They cooked it right when I ordered… Really nice people and the food was great. And the portions are generous. All in all a great place and I will certainly go regularly.

Went on a cold, Saturday around 4pm and no one was there. The owner was so so nice and the food came up fast. My friend had the chicken quesidila and I had the chimychanga. Portions were HUGE and neither of us spent more than $ 10 with a bottle of soda. They also make their own chips and have lots of different salsa’s to chose from. Guac was fake and they gave us a teaspon of that and sour cream. Did I mention how nice the owner was? Due the huge portions and nice owner, I will eat here many more times!

Eating in Downtown Crossing can be a bit of a frustrating experience. Unless you like food court chinese food or McDonalds. This place is a nice hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint with big portions and good value.

Every once in a while, I like to give a place a chance that doesn’t really have good ratings on Unilocal. On this occasion like most others, the reviews were right. Enchildas were recommended by the cashier and sucked. This is a great example of inferior Northeast Mexican. Not recommended. If you’re in the area, there’s a bunch of way better food options — Sam La Grassa’s right around the corner. For Mexican(in the neighborhood) — boloco is better… which I know is disturbing.

Isn’t crazy expensive, but they give you a lot. Not the best Mexican I’ve had, but quick and easy.

I’ve been going more and more over past few months because one of my coworkers is nuts about the place. I will say that the food has grown on me. It’s very authentic and we now eat there almost three times a week. I have branched off from only eating burritos. They have great quesadillas, enchiladas, and other classic Mexican dishes. The main guy and his wife are really nice and I wanted to show him some love by updating the review. Check this place out if you are downtown and craving authentic Mexican.

This place has a great location… too bad it sucks! It’s literally a stones throw away from my job, but every time I go I have to ask my self why, when there are so many fabulous options around. NOTHING is fresh in this place!

I had eaten here one other time prior to today and remember it not being the best but I figured I’d give it a try again today. Well, my first impression was right. I really want to like this place. It looks and feels very authentic. The staff is nice(one of the employees stopped to aske me how everything was, atypical of a burrito place). It’s just not good though. The burrito was bland and slightly pricey. The salsa bar was nothing to write home about. Just a disappointing experience. If you want a burrito in the area you’d be better off heading to Hererra’s(cart or actual restaurant) or Maria’s.

This place is about as Mexican as hamburgers and fries. I was very dissapointed. I ordered chicken tacos, and they had very little flavor and appeal. The tacos weren’t bad, just bland… Which is not what I want when I eat Mexican. The place was clean though, and the food did come out quick. But what I want when I order«authentic» Mexican food is good spicy flavorful food, not some butchered American version.

The 4 star«Yay! I’m a fan.» fits with this place. The music and décor made me glad I overshot walking to Boloco. The food was no better or worse than most Burrito places in boston(I got a Steak Burrito, which came with chips) but the service was great. I definitely will be returning here and suggest you check it out.

This is the closest takeout Mexican place to my office in the financial district(as far as I know). It’s good enough if you need a so-so Mexican food«fix». I usually get the chicken taco salad which is a generous size and perfect, especially after a night of drinking.

Under new management. Gone is the good homemade salsa. Gone are the nice Mexican people working there. Hello to a flat screen TV and a cleaner eating area, but who wants to eat there now? It’s gone from really nice CA style Mexican to White-people making bland and forgettable so called«mexican» food — now at an inflated price! I am so sad. I used to go here all the time and it was great. I’m just going to have to think of this place as ‘closed’ so I don’t go back for more crap mexican and disorganized service. Boo hoo!

Im just going to say it… the east coast can’t do mexican food. Its not you fault, you are 2,000 miles from Mexico. But gosh darn you, you guys do try. within a 5 block radius of my office are 4 mexican placesand they all suck. expect for Tequila’s. There is an old adage that my sis-inlaw taught me about mexican food(and she is an expert), which states the more low key the better. the closer a place can get to being dirty, the better its going to be. And this holds true for Tequila’s. i always get the steak burito, which is filling and with some nice heat. however the two best things about this is place are, every thing you order comes with chips, and b, a little make your own salsa barbecause sometimes i just want some back round heat, but on most days, unlike most americans, i want it to be so hot thati can see through time.

New ownership. Tito is gone and a father and son now run the spot. Unfortunately, they have changed for the worst. I went there last week and they messed up my small burrito. This was significantly smaller than the old tequila’s burritos. They didn’t put on the guacamole and sour cream, nor the hot sauce I requested, but had paid extra for. Also, the woman behind the counter wasn’t the friendliest lady I had ever met. She asked me what I wanted about 3 times before punching it in. Bummer. This place used to rule.

Tequila might not be amazing, but it’s damn good when you’re hungry at lunchtime for some greasy Mexican food. These guys will stuff you silly for a reasonable cost. I’ve never had anything bad here actually. I recommend the combo plates for the best deal. My favorite is the Vegetarian Plate, a shmorgazborg of veggies, cheese, beans, rice, and salad. You also can’t go wrong with one of their quesadillas or tacos. Pretty much anything with a lot of cheese tastes good to me! There’s a little salsa bar off to the side with different salsas, ranging from mild to hot, for you to choose from and take as needed. And all meals come with a huge bag of freshly fried tortilla chips. Honestly, eating their food is sooooo good as you grub it down, but it’s the kind of food that leaves you feeling fat and bloated afterward, and sightly disgusted at how much you ate. Remember, everything in moderation.

This place is reasonably solid. The little salsa bar stocked with 6 or so different salsas is nice to see.(The salsa verde is nice, the pico de gallo is surprisingly hot, and the chipotle salsa really kicks.) The fare is pretty standard. I like getting the taco salads or a grilled chicken/steak plate. Definitely good when I need a Mexican fix for lunch downtown and I don’t crave a burrito(in which case I’d hit up Herrera’s). They do fry their own chips, which always makes me smile.

Coming from California and growing up in Los Angeles, I would consider myself a fairly good judge of authentic Mexican food. This ain’t it. But not everyone is looking for authentic food, and this place does have some redeeming factors. If you are fiending for a burrito, this place may do the trick. I’d be really interested in trying some of the other burrito shops in the area though to compare. That’ll have to wait until my next trip to Boston. PROS: — Salsa is decent and the salsa bar is a nice touch — Great service, very friendly CONS: — The rice is flavorless and the meat gristly — A little pricey with a burrito and water running $ 8 — No parking, but that’s not an issue if you are local
