Description

Specialties

A stunning transformation… Boston’s historic Charles Street Jail has been reborn the luxurious Liberty Hotel. Reminders of the buildings notorious past are cleverly present. From the restaurant Clink diners look through the original cell and window bars. The downstairs bar Alibi was formerly the jail’s drunk tank. And the old «sally port» where guards brought prisoners from paddy wagons to their cells serves as the entrance to the restaurant Scampo (the Italian word for «escape»). There’s no chance of anyone forgetting its penal roots, or what Boston hotel developer Richard Friedman likes to call it’s «jailness». With this legacy the Liberty hotel promises an unforgettable experience in a truly unique setting.
